Tennessee has stocked Chick and produced a new State Record.

Schitts Creek Hello GIF by CBC

That’s because they stock them every single year. The First generation hybrid fl/northern make up 99% of the trophy bass (genetic tests) and when you stock every year there is always a first generation hybrid. The Florida bass Genes would be gone from the population (bed out by natives) if they didn’t continue the stocking every year

Martin Edwards lost one on Fork that was huge. Told me where it was lost.  For you old school Fork guys, it was up next to the Spanish galleon that sat on a stump.  I took 2 clients up there the next day and the guy in back had it  hooked on a C-rig.   He rolled the fish up next to the boat and his buddy tried to grab it instead of letting me get it.  Lost the fish.  I promise, that fish was 20 plus.  The fish below is 29.25 long and 24.25 diameter.  That fish was easily 31 or 32 inches long is going to be 26 or 27 inches in diameter, that would put her over 20.  Biggest fish I have ever seen and Ive saw both the big ones out of Fork. I know of one other guide up there that told me he had on in Little Caney that was 20.

that was about 1994.  Most likely there is still one like that, but the number of 12 plus fish from for has slowed down as the gene mutates back.   Dont get me started on the grass.

@WRB, you mention waaaay back in this thread hair jigs and horizontal jigging wouldn’t be as effective in shallower bodies of water. What would be your go to in these kinds of water?
