(11.33 kg), the replacement must weigh at least 2 ounces (56.69 gm)

more than the existing record.

This will surely have some drama, LOL.

it would be considered a tie and both names would go on the record. that is if every thing was done write with the weighing and what not.

This fish looks legit to me and calculates out close to the reported weight, based on the photo. This catch, if submitted to the IGFA, will be closely looked at. How it was caught, witnesses, all the validation needs to be right. The fish needs to be examined. It looks like this angler was prepared to take photos with measurements, however no photo of the scale was included.

Time will tell the tale.

No matter the outcome, congrats to the angler.  Awesome fish.  Now, let the debates begin.

I was thinking exactly the same, it 's missing an ounce to be the new WR. Man what a bummer !

Wow awesome fish! I guess I wasn't aware that Japan had lakes capable of producing a world record fish.

As much as I congratulate the fisherman, I wouldn't want to be him. This is going to be the most scrutinized catch in the history of fishing.

Just my own opinion, the 2 ounce rules bites.  Bigger is bigger.  If a scale is certified, it should be considered accurate and an ounce bigger is bigger.  Just another in a LONG list of reasons that the IGFA sucks.  Their greatest claim to fame is that the manage to create controversy at nearly every turn.  

My only question about the fish is, in Japan- you'd think someone had a decent camera.   :-?  Why are there never good pictures of things like this??  The guy has a $200+ reel and a $20 camera.  Hope is scale was more expensive.   ;D

That would be me  , my camera is cheap, most of the times I don 't even carry it and my scale, it 's cheaper than my camera and like the camera, most of the times I don 't carry it.

it measured 29.4 in legth unsure on girth. perrys measured 32.5 and its girth was 28.5

I agree with Keith. 1 oz bigger is 1 oz bigger. Plus, this is bass fishing not ping pong, you shouldnt have to win by 2.

They are out trying to bring the record back to the US (which I would love to see them do).

I always thought if the largemouth bass record was broken in another country, it would be in Mexico.  I never would have dreamed it would be Japan (especially since I heard they wanted to erradicate all their waters of "non-native" species, such as the LM Bass)

That fish is insane!! Unbelievable that this fish came from Japan. I really thought California would be the one to break the record. Are Japanese Largemouth some sort of hybrid, or pure Florida Strain??
