Bass Fishing Destination?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just found the site and it seems to be a great forum!!!  I am from Wisconsin and do alot of musky and bass fishing in the summer months.  There has only been snow on the ground for a week and already I have the itch to get back out.  I have decided to do an out of state trip this winter, but am having a hard time finding a place to go.  I would really love to find a place with great bass fishing.  They don't have to be monsters as I am looking for quantities of fish because my wife would be joining me.  Does anyone on here know of a resort or something in Florida or another southern state?  Maybe somewhere you have stayed and had a good experience???  Thank in advance??

Welcome.

Like RW said , George Welcome will put you on the bass.

Anywhere warm. ;D

I would love to go down to Florida or California and do some fishing.

Stickmarsh/Farm 13 in Florida. If you want to come to Tx I personally would fish either Falcon or Choke Canyon. Should be able to find lodging and guides on the web.     www.texasfishingguides.org

It sounds like you're already on track.  I just posted to welcome you to Bass Resource.   :)

I recommend south Florida for peacock and largemouth bass. The peacocks are plentiful, hard fighters, and beautiful to boot!!!

Choke Canyon.

X2 !!!!

Welaka Lodge and Resort on the St. Johns River. Straight across from the Ocklawaha river that runs up to Rodman reservoir. Just down river from Lake George. Terrific cabins and dock setup with power lifts. Golf course a few miles down the road. Got my personal best up Bear creek which runs parallel to the Ocklawaha for quite a ways. There is a cross connect between the two a couple miles up. You can run up the river and drift back down the creek. Just don't let the gators get you!

Thats a great idea, i fish that area alot, in rodman you can catch tons of fish. in the river its a little tougher, but there are great guides who can put you on fish.

If you're looking for numbers - lots of bass and peacocks it's hard to beat the everglades - saw a boat do a 110 peacocks and over 30 largemouth in a half day at holiday park last week

nothing big

I wouldn't suggest northern (SF Bay Delta area) California in the winter, too many sudden changes in weather.  For instance, last week on Sunday we had a sudden onset of severely cold weather and rain.  To illustrate the change, it went from 65 mid-day Saturday to 35 in some places by Monday mid-day.  As you can imagine the bite was turned OFF.  The Sacramento delta didn't seem to suffer as bad, but definitely felt the effects.

If I had my choice, I'd go to one of the states along the gulf for largemouth or spots.  Or maybe to Mexico!

In the winter....South Florida Everglades for Bass and Peacocks is where its happening, unless you want to get out of the country. I would stay in Miami or Everglades City and crush some Big Cypress bass!
