I usually don't weigh. But honest guesses. Best smallies were over 4, and close to 5.

Large was without a doubt over 6 and probably close to 7 which is huge up here. On a 10" power worm while "musky fishing" early in the season.

Hope to break 6lb smallie this year by hitting the places that have them in numbers.

If the guide is worth his money and you let him know before he shouldnt have a problemw ith you marking spots afterall you could hire him with the express purpose of helping you find fishing spots.

So does paying $150-250 to go fishing with someone.

What is the point of a guide if not to provide insight on how/where to catch fish on a strange and/or large body of water.

Well you are entitled to your opinion just like everyone else.  But I can tell you lots of tournament anglers hire guides to help them out on lakes they arent familiar with its not against the rules so its not cheating.

Now to get the thread back on topic.

As long as my guide has the " spots " thats all that matters to me. Its 8 hrs drive from my house so im going to fish and have fun and fish.

My best LB was 23", 7.5 lbs, caught on a 810 acre lake, June 17th over 27ft of water on a Chrome/Black Risto Rap. Fish were schooled up chasing shad over an old creek channel.

My best largemouth was 7lbs, 12oz.  I caught it last March on the Farm 13 side of Stick Marsh.  As a bass pro would say:

I caught that monster in a stump field in about 2 feet of water.  The water temperature was 72 degrees, no wind and a bright sunny day at about 3PM. 

I was able to get that bucketmouth to the boat because I was using my Johnny Morris Sigature Series left handed reel with a 6.4 to 1 gear ratio.  Though intense the battle was short due to the 7' Medium Heavy action Bass Pro Shops Extreme rod that I was using.  I was not worried about the XPS 14lb test line breaking on the hookset or through abraision on the stumps because experience has taught me that this line is pound for pound the toughest yet easiest to cast fluorocarbon line on the market!  Though the fish was an acrobat the Gamakatzu 4/0 EWG worm hook never came unbuttoned!  This huge fish just couldn't turn down a tantalizing treat like the Zoom Baby Brush Hog in Junebug!  Junebug is a fantastic color for those tanic colored Florida lakes!  I was able to imediately tell that the fish had eaten the bait due to the density of the 3/16oz Tru Tunsten bullet weight that I was using with this Texas Rig.  With Tru Tungsten I never miss a bite!  Woo Hoo.....NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!!!

Sounds like you have it down, now you just need these companies to pay you for that spill.

As far as SMB never broke the 5# mark but caught plenty of 4lb+ out of Lake Michigan

never caught a smb before but for lmb 3 maybe 3.5 the monster seen in my avatar lol caught him on a watermelon zellamander t-rigged on a 5/0 hook with yum attractant using 15# braid and 15# fluorocarbon leader. caught on a relatively small lake my girlfriend lives on lake Florance.
