We are a bigger group of anglers in NY, and yet when you go to meetings, bass get about 5 minutes of time. The dollars and cents that go into trout management and conservation is grossly disproportional to the dollars and cents bass and panfish anglers generate in revenue.

Maybe salmonid production costs should be reduced consummate with bass production costs?  ::)

JF is right on about the salmonoid vs bass money issue. And this does involve politics. At least it does here in Chicago. I know the former president of Salmon Unlimited and some of the stories he told me were amazing. The charter guys took out politicians and suddenly a more extensive stocking program is established. I could go on and on. Money gets money and the guys who own and operate $150,000-$200,000 boats tend to mingle with the right crowd.

I'm guessing bass anglers outnumber Salmon/Trout anglers by 500-1 or more.

good job RW and Glenn... we're discussing the issue at nybass too and i see a blog and facebook threads at WFN... it's important to have intelligent discussion on the subject, but most importantly, let people know that this is a baseless rumor.
