Replica Mounts

Featured Replies

I know there was a thread here at one point and time about replica mounts a while back, but I can't find it after searching for the past 30 minutes.  Just wandering if you all could reccomend a good place to get fish replicas done.  Hopefully this year I'll catch one big enough to get one lol.

I believe most taxidermists could help you. They'd either have them or could get them. Or you could do a google search for fish taxidermists...

As a former Taxidermist of over 10 yrs, if I were to have one done it would be done by Lake Fork Taxidermy or Ron Kelley.  Just make sure whichever ones you interview, make sure you see several examples of their work.  Good Luck!

One of the best is Lake Fork Taxidermy in Texas.

I have been in their shop many times and their work is awesome!!! Take in measurements and a photo and they will duplicate your fish not just give you a bass.

What is the deal with it costing more for a replica than the actual skin of the fish you caught.  Kinda sucks that you have to spend $100 more to save a lunker.

Yes, both are excellent.

I have a couple replicas. The one on the right here, was for my 16.5, and was done by Lake Fork. The one on the left, was for my 18.4, and was done by Robert Munoz, from So Cal. I love the natural, closed mouth pose. He does absolutely fantastic work..... but is next to impossible to get a job set up with :( Over booked. No secretary... which he needs. But anyway....

Robert Munoz owner of Roberts Fish Mounts is no longer in California and his business status is unknown at this time.

Roberts father passed away and he returned to Arkansas to take care of his family last summer.

Robert does phenomenal work and was restoring my 19.3 from slight earthquake damage when his father died and It was nearly a year before I could get the mount back without being restored.

If you have a mount at Trophy Fish Mounts PM me and I will get the contact information to you.

Replicas are better because they are much more durable than a skin mount & they leave that fish in the system to reproduce & maybe let some else catch them. They don't fade, they don't bleed thru oils & the fins don't break off when your wife decides it need dusting. ;D

You'll be happy with Lake Fork. Really nice work.

Thanks for all the info fellas.  Hopefully this year I'll catch one big enough for a replica.
