I have rage toads and shad as well as some stanley ribbits. Which of the "floating" frogs do you guys use. I know there are spro and snagproof, and cabelas has some branded as their own. Which do you guys use and why?? Also, any fishing/rigging tips would be welcomed. Thanks so much.

I like using the spro ones, I haven't had much luck with the soft plastic types as they snag on the weeds frequently for me.  They seem to love getting stuck in that "indent" part of the pads that I have in my area.  The spro kinda floats over them.

I have used the ribbit frog and had good luck. I think the best soft plastic is the zoom horney toad. bull frog works for pretty much any condition. they seem to stay on top better in weeds. my favorite hollow body is the is by far the spro. they are very strong  and don't fill up with water as fast.

I primarily use the zoom horny toads.  But they aren't really "floating."  Unless I'm doing something wrong, the ones I've got have a slow sink rate.  Could just be the weight of the hook though.  I also use the frogs that a local bait company down here hand pours.  152nd St. Baits.  They make a mean frog for topwater fun.

has anybody ever used the popper frogs from spro. I have some strike strike king grass frogs that are the popper kind. hope to get out to try it if the rain ever stops

I have always used the soft plastic ones such as *** and zoom, but just recently bought a new spro. I have had great luck with the soft plastics, but I have had problems with them flipping over. These do sink, but you really never work them that slow for it to affect them. I usually burn them across the pads or grass at a pretty high rate and have no problems missing fish or getting the hook caught up.

That is the model spro I got. Looks like it has great action and I am looking forward to throwing it this year.

cant beat spro frogs imo.

working on a limited budget... i have not tried the spro.  but am sure they are good.  just a little pricy for me.  i have had great success with the basic scum frog and their trophy series.  never ever had a problem getting hung up.  always land on their bellies and the body is plenty soft for hook sets.

I like the Stanley Ribbit and the Mann's frog myself.

    I also like the SPRO brand in the original size. Another brand I like is the Rage Tail Toads, they have a great sound as they are "buzzing" through the water.  Last but not least is the Zoom Horney Toads, they also have great action and sound but they are not as good as the Rage Tail Toads.

I like the SPRO Bronze Eye frog, in regular and junior.  I have a couple of the new popper frogs to try but haven't gotten to yet.  I also like the YUM Buzz Frog.

i bought a topwater mouse/frog kit over the winter months from Bass Pro Shop.  i have not used them yet but one of the toads in the kit is a Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Lazer Eye Tender Toad.

I like the spro bronze eye frogs, the bronze eye popper, the scumfrog popper, and the bigfoot frog.

Not to throw a wet rag on the Spro party going here but I like the Snagproof Bobby's Perfect. Just a little softer than the Spro IMO.

Bend the hooks on the Spro frogs out about 1/16" and "exercise" the plastic for a few minutes to make it soft.  

On twin skirted frogs, trim one "leg" shorter than the other and use a Duo-Loc snap to connect the frog to make it easy to "walk the frog."

Those are good frogs too.

Anyone here use the original snag proof frog with the real legs? It doesn't have much action and is pretty stiff, but I have a friend who just consistantly bags 4 - 8 pounders on them.

Go with spro, dont buy the "snag proof" ones the weight falls out of them and they fill with water.

I know you were asking about floating frogs and i was lookin at the same question last year. i tried ribbits, rage, zoom horny toads, spros, and spros competion which i forget the names. i found i get much greater action out of baits that have a fall to them like a dieing frog. most of my hits i was eeither ripping them across the surface or just after i let it "die" for a second or two then ripp it. my favorite was the zoom horny toad just because its got great action and the legs are easily able to fit in the frogs mouth for a good hook set when you use a 3/0 ewg gamagatsku. i know this probably didnt help hahaha but just thought id give my .03 cents. and by the way i fish in some of the nastiest stuff which is about in inch thick of much and just ripp that braid through it.
