I am still a firm believer that this line shouldn't have been discontinued. I know it can still be bought on ebay now and then but you never how long or where it's been stored.

I probably didn't give it a fair chance but I thought that stuff had terrible memory. It was strong but almost impossible to fish with when I tried it.

it had very low stretch and hkgh sensitivity.

It came out in the early days of braided lines. It kinda reminded me of Yozuri Hybrid with that copolymer feel to it, but I thought it casted a bit better. I loved its durability and while it did have some memory I loved using it for light line applications. It was one of the first monos that had me loyal for a couple of years and usually I have no loyalties to brands.

I miss that line. I used 17 lb the most. I liked it for spinnerbait and shallow crank applications. Yeah, it did have some memory while it was dry, but after a few easy casts to limber it up and a shot or two of line magic, it worked great. It was incredibly abrasion resistant and I liked how it was so slick. I was happy with the distance I got with it. I had a couple of spools of 10 lb test and I thought it worked good as a deep cranking line. The only issue I had with it was that it was hard to see, so I never used it for any soft plastic or jig application. I never did try it in any test less than 10. I know a few crappie guys who used a bunch of it in 4 lb test, becase it was so abrasion resistant.

8# Ironsilk was the only line I ever used that caused a bird's nest on a spinning reel.

Looks like I'm 10 years late to this party...

 

Gave my stepdad an old spinning reel that was spooled with 10# IRONSilk.  He got hung up and pulled 3 grown men and a 16' boat with it.

 

I miss this stuff.  It was my go to line when I was younger.  IRONsilk, Gamakatsu EWGs and a couple packs of Senkos was all I needed to catch bass just about anywhere. 

 

Not me

Never tried it.  I do miss Berkley power jigs and the frenzy divers.
