We just returned from that debacle at Kentucky Speedway. She's got over 80,000 on her now, still on the original 20" tires, with almost 1/8th inch to the wear bar indicators. She's a good road vehicle for travelling. It handles my Z7 ok. You don't know it's there once you get to cruising speed, but getting it up to speed is a bit of a chore for the 5.1 and four speed automatic.

Wouldn't you know it, they came out in 2008 with a five speed option.

Man that traffic at the Speedway was the worst I've ever been in.

I had an '07 with the 6L motor. I agree in that once you got to cruising speed, no problem. Getting there however, different story.

Can't wait to get it back Friday! Will post pics once it's done with the next set of mods.

Once you get to about 200k she'll start getting broken in, LOL.

I think the 2500 Chevy has the best chassis in it's class.

I had over 120k miles on the 07 Sierra SLT, no issues. These trucks are meant to be driven.

All vehicals are meant to be driven nothing is worse then just letting them sit collecting dust rotting from the inside out. My fatherinlaw does this he bought a mercedes 3 years ago and he's put maybe 500mi on the thing and its all rusted and dry rotted now and he doesn't know why. He just likes saying he owns a benz just last night he's looking at a 19' citation with a sleeper so he can park it in front of the horse barn and look at it. Boats, trucks, cars are ment to be used I hate seeing people leting them sit rotting getting destroyed

Sweet ride RLR! I love my 03' Silverado.

That's a beauty Robert, I aspire to be able to buy some of the stuff you do.

I think the Duramax is a beast of an engine, and with the Allison it's a no-brainer.

Get that college degree and have a rewarding career like Robert so you can purchase vehicles like him.

Do this before you get married.

And get your bass boat to go with the truck before you get married.

Robert, beautiful truck. Love those side mirrors. Would love to have them on my SUV. :)

Sam, it's hilarious how all of your posts about my future involve setting everything up BEFORE I get married. Haha, I plan on going to college and hopefully getting a good job that will allow me to feed this monkey that never leaves me alone!

Do everything befor marriage otherwise u end up like me having to beg like a dog to buy a 3dollar pack of havoc and only allowed to get 1 pack. Plus when u get into money SAVE it I blew so much money in my day and have nothing to show for it.

Save...that's something I'm not too good at. Everyone tells me to save...maybe I should listen to the experienced people that have actually gone through my current stage of life.

After I get my next rod and reel...I'll start! haha

I agree. Get it before you get married. You'll get some enjoyment out of it before she takes it in the divorce.

Maximize your purchasing power. SPEND NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put away two dollars today and in ten years it will buy less than one dollar will today. Savings interest is horrendous, so you won't earn much on your savings. We have almost four grand in our contingency savings account. It makes pennies per month in interest.

But, don't spend it on raffle tickets, tobacco products, or other such frivilous things. Investing in fishing gear is the prudent thing to do.

Yours truly,

The Bait Monkey

It would look like heck in short order from getting peppered with road grit. Plus, it's a textured finish and would have to be smoothed out to get the same finish as the bumpers. Armorall or tire shine will spruce it up, and the road dings will hardly show. Paint on the other hand........................................

There's a reason they put a textured finish on those vulnerable spots. It's the same reason they do it on appliances, refrigerators in particular. The textured finish doesn't show fingerprints and other blemishes.

Looks great. I'm glad to see Chevy got rid of those hideous end caps they had on the bumpers. They looked like an afterthought.

By the way, I like the new sinister look.

Thanks guys. I'm more than happy with the truck. AMP steps are next, as well as the audio upgrade. Leveling will be last. I think I'm going to stick with the stock wheels and go up to a 285 60 20 from the stock 265 60 20.

That thing is sweet. Surprised you didn't go GMC. Same difference on the upper trim packages, though. I test drove one like it, you're going to dig the torque when towing. 700+ foot-pounds at basically idle revs. I have a 1/2 ton Sierra, with the big motor, Z71. Mine is 2010, already put 30K miles on it, no troubles. What you have might be my next truck.

Yeah I get that bout road rash. Its not hard to do make smooth iv done it on some of my cars in the past I love doing autobody and custom fiberglass jobs but then I switched and had a change of heart and decided to go fast rather then look good.

Where's. The interior pics of the new steering wheel

Gas Mileage be damned!!!!! Go big or go home. That truck looks fantastic!!!

I don't know about the diesel, but mine gets 20 mpg, 15-17 towing.
