School And Bass Fishing: How Do You Do/manage Both?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have about 3 and a half weeks left until school starts for me ( I go to a private catholic school). I'm going into 10th grade........ Last year was a tough year and my parents think fishing got in the way a little to much and got to the point where I was not allowed to fish the last month of school. My Grades weren't bad, I was getting one or two A's, A few B's, and like 2 C's. What I was wondering is how you guys did well in school and do well in school, BUT still get to bass fish........ In middle school I could fish 2 hours every days and have mostly all A's because I would do my homework at Lunch. Any suggestions how I can fit fishing in?

If I don't have ball practice I come home straight from school, finish my homeowork then I fish till dark.

Why not do your homework at lunch in high school?

Im surprised you still have homework to be honest.

Around here it seems the more years your in school the more homework disappears.

I did all of like 3 worksheets for math last year.

Thats what I try to do :) My mom thinks that if she doesn't see me study or do my homework, which I do before she gets home, then she thinks I don't do it................

I would do it at lunch, but my parents want to SEE me doing my homework at 6:30 at night when they get home, I used to just tell them its done, but now they want me to sit down every night and do all of my homework and review my notes, etc.

Review your "Notes" from all the ladies cool.gif

Write "essays" back to all the honeys, cool.gif

Looks like homework, but its not. Win win.

Or you could just show them you already did your homework.

You still write notes?

I skip sometimes and fish. More often than I should.

Well...sounds like a reason to use my favorite excuse, "the fish ate my homework", I am in 11th grade and I do all my homework in class and at lunch and show my parents when I get home.

I teach 11th and 12thgrade and done hand out homework so my kids can fish haha.

No but when I was in school I fished more then then I do now I never got the best grades though either if I wasn't on the river I was chasing cheerleader tail. You probably get home at what 230 3ish if you do homework or study for say an hour or even 2 that leave plenty of time to fish everyday

This time of the year, I just wait for the fish to school, then I manage quite well.

My problem is is that I don't get home until 3:50-4:10, because I carpool with another kid my age. The place I fish is 10 minutes walking distance away from my house.

If your parents want to see you do your homework, listen to them first. If you get home by 4, rush out or even get dropped off at the water by your ride. Then fish until 6 and go home so you can score brownie points and study after fishing. Make your parents happy and maybe they will buy you some new tackle if you pump out A's consistently.

pay attention and focus on school now so when your older you can get a good job and make a good living, buy yourself a nice boat and fish as often as you like!

Come home from school, do your home work and lay it out neatly so your parents an look it over. I would think they care more about what you have done than watching you do it. Your education is going to provide you with the job and funds to finance you fishing in future years so the education is very important to your fishing.

If you were my child I would be very receptive to this but if you tried to sneak one past me I'd ground you for so long you would be dying the grey out of your hair before you went fishing again.

Quit school and try and make it as a pro!!!!!

Get up 2 hours earlier and go fishing then go to school

Let's see. 10th grade = 15 or 16 years old.

School is extremely important if you want to have a boat, motor, trailer and the time to do some serious bass fishing.

Seems you want immediate gratification in fishing when your school work is vastly more important.

Your parents are fantastic. Checking your homework is a blessing. They want you to do well and they are willing to take time out of their day to spend with you to make sure you are doing a great job.

So take some advice from a old coger who does undergraduate recruiting for LSU and keep those grades high; get into a good college; graduate; start a career; make a lot of money; buy a nice rig; and pay as much FICA as you can!!!! :D:D:D

Just come home, get a snack or something, then start almost immediatley on your homework. Once you get it done, you can fish! Just don't rush through it and make simple mistakes on your homework so you can go fishing. Homework and School, are more important than fishing(i hate to think like that at times but they really are). Good luck! Catch them up!
