You need to drive an hour and a half east. Il and IN waters of Lake Michigan hold plenty of perch in the 13-15" range. Did you at least invite him over for dinner? :D

Very few lakes with true perch in them around here. I caught a couple walleye fishing in Canada probably similar size to that one. They are good eating though!

Being in Florida I miss eating perch, no markets sell them here and never have seen it on a menu.

When I was a kid I used to take the bus to the Detroit Free Press dock and catch perch to bring home for dinner. My dad owned a fish market, all the perch we wanted, but wasn't as much fun as catching them myself.

Sorry no pics. I have eaten all of mine :D

I caught a perch when I wasn't really all that into fishing on a rapala coundown I swear was at least 2 pounds. Didn't think any thing of it If I caught that thing now I would be thrilled!

Almost every restaurant with seafood in Michigan, serves perch. They taste great beer battered. I've caught some nice perch by the detroit princess off the wall.

Beautiful perch in the OP's photo but you shouldn't lip them, very bad for their small mouths.

ive never caught a yellow perch. ive caught plenty of white ones to the point where theyre a nuisance if theyre a school of small ones. but last summer i was fishing a super fluke off a dock and had what i estimate to be atleast a 15 inch yellow perch follow my fluke in, it was huge and fat...

How much did that one weigh?

Jeff

No clue. Not three pound. Not even close. I kept 50 that were 11 to 14" that day. That was one of the fattest.

my Best for Yellow perch maybe 7"-9"

At lake Orange while bass fishing I tossed out a minnow and caught this one.

My best was 12" caught while fishing for bluegills....completely accidental.

I haven't caught another once since then.I'm not even sure it's local to that small lake.very strange to me.

No pic, but my PB was through the ice last year - 15 in. and one ounce shy of 2 pounds

Mine was from April 19.

Last October my buddy and I were flipping docks and wood. My buddy got whacked and flipped this pig into the boat (15"). We sat there sort of stunned and laughed a bit. It smashed a 1/2oz Jig/Paca chunk.

For some reason it will not allow me to upload a the picture... Think of a wicked bright Walleye.
