After arguably the Worst owner in professional sports

After running Barry Sanders out of the game

We wont even start with Matt Millon......

They don't have a chance against Green Bay.....IMO,but then again.....I've been surprised by less.

I have to admit I'm highly impressed how well the lions are doing.Whatever they are doing they need to keep doing it.

I do remember 1957,and everything else up till now. I don't want hear "restore the roar", or "another one bites the dust", but to quote Ben Crenshaw

"I've got a good feeling about this"

Is there really a color called Honolulu Blue?

With a defense like Detroit has got. I think they'll beat greenbay. Heck their defensive line alone is unstoppable.

Isn't it fun to have your teams do well?

Detroit can use the success.

The Tigers with Virginia's Verlander are looking good but baseball is a funny sport and the best teams sometimes don't win.

The Flyers will defeat the Red Wings for the NHL crown and the Saints will take out the Lions in the NFL playoffs.

That leaves the Pistons, if they ever get back on the hardwood, to take the NBA title.

Then there is Michigan who just may beat TOSU this year and go to the Rose Bowl if Wisconsin plays LSU for the BCS championship.

Time will tell. :)

I believe in baseball, because of the 7 game series the best team usually does win, football with the 1 game and out playoffs, thats where sometimes the best team doesn't win.

I would agree. Cinderella teams usually don't go all the way. In football the team playing the best going into the playoffs does the best, not always the best team.

As much of diehard Lions fan as I am, and what they are doing is great, but they are not a complete team. At present their big weapon is Calvin Johnson, what if he goes down. What they need is to bolster up that running game, at present I don't see them being able to keep getting 1 st downs to run out the clock. When leading by 7 points with a few minutes to play, the last thing you wanna do is toss ball. Lombardi said " three things happen when you pass and two of them are bad ".

Jahvid Best has looked pretty good to me. He had 163 yds yesterday.

The yankees were definitely not the best team this year, they had serious holes in their pitching. They had the best record in the A.L., but when postseason time rolls around, the game changes to pitching and defense.

After running Barry Sanders out of the game

We wont even start with Matt Millon......

You Forget about Russ Thomas......his job was W.C. Ford's babysitter, Ford's personal problems were well known.

They totally wasted Barry Saunders talent's, I didn't blame him for leaving the game. He never had a good offensive line in front of him ( like Emmet Smith) and ran for too many negative yards. Had the Lions built a team around him he would have made records that would withstand the test of time. He may not have been the most sociable guy out there, but if there was ever an unselfish team player, it was him. Just my take.

Best will not be a bulldog week in and week out, he's a journeyman, but had a great game. Taking off 1 88 yd running he is averaging 3.7 yds per rush, with the big gain it's 4.9, I don't expect too many big runs from him.

I agree, the Lion's really held him back. He would have 3 rushes for -12 yards, then break one for 60. Not the best ratio. The man was incredible, but had no supporting cast.

It is all about pitching from now through the World Series and Detroit has some very good pitching. :)

You can't block for Barry Sanders. All you could do was stay in front of your guy and let barry pick his holes. And, lets not forget the lions lost 2 very talented offensive lineman. Andolsek, who got run over and killed while doing yard work, and the paralizing injury to (crap, i'm forgetting his name). A lions' home game has not been that loud since their only playoff victory against the cowboys in 91. It was awesome. C'mon redline, nobody will crush the lions. They may beat them, but no crush. Hairball's luck is about to run out....

The Lions are a perfect example of how a team can climb out of the cellar just by excellent drafting and development.

Considering the Lions have been in or close to the cellar for 50 some odd years, they have had some great drafts and players.

In the 90's Herman Moore, Chris Spielman, Barry Saunders and several other notables, unfortunately no outstanding QB and Wayne Fontes( he loved to hang out at the Eaton St bar in Birmingham).

I think the difference now, in additional to some good players, is the coaching.

How can you NOT like a coach who's favorite band is Iron Maiden and routinely blasts Heavy Metal in his office. I listened to Schwartz on the local sports talk radio 97.1 give a dissertation on heavy metal music history. It was epic.

May the Schwartz be with us all........

68' was a great series, Lolich (no longer has his lake Orion donut shop) not McLain, who won 31 games that year, won 3 games and Mickey Stanely came in from centerfield to play short. Impossible not to think about Kaline in that series, a true superstar and gentleman. If memory serves me correct they were down 4 games to 2. Great downtown celebration, I was riding around on a Detroit hook and ladder fire truck. The last game was in St Louis, and Detroit erupted seconds after the game ended, very cool.
