So I've seen this done on plenty of other forums I post on and thought you guys might enjoy it as well. If this is against any rules, by all means mods please close.

Here's how it works; I start by stating a single combo of mine (Generally your favorite)

The next person to post will then give my combo a 1-10 ranking, then state their combo.

The person after he/she will then rate the above person's combo, and leave theirs to be rated.

Continue cycle.

Most people usually state what they like/dislike about the combo above too, to justify their ratings.

Also, you shouldn't post much unless you add a combo to be rated also cool.gif

I think it's a fun game to me!

I'll start off:

BPS Johnny Morris Sig Series II - 6'8" MH/XF

BPS Prolite - 6.4:1

Seagaur InvizX 15# fluorocarbon.

The taper on the rod makes for a mean squarebill rod, and also doubles as a nice senko rod cool.gif

  • Well Clary, The economic system we live under here in the United States drives prices of goods/services that are limited/desired up, and goods/services that are plentiful/undesired down. To illustrate

  • Gave this a 7............ I mean it is only a 1,000 dollar combo

  • 8.5 9 3 with a 10 applicant on it Love the Shimano lineup for rods, and the curado is a great reel. Vanish is junk. It's weak and I found it to be stretchy, as well as poor abrasion resistance.

  • Super User

Idk anything about the rod or the reel, but I'd give Invizx a 5 out of 10. Too stretchy, and average abrasion resistance. There are many better fluoros in the same price range, although I guess it depends on what qualities you're looking for. Spiderwire Ultracast fluoro is a much better alternative and the one I like, when I use fluoro (very rarely).

My combo:

Mattlures MH swimbait rod (10/20 lb line, 1-4 oz lures)

Shimano Curado 301E

15 lb (20 lb true test) Yo-Zuri hybrid.

A very decent and economic set-up for 5"-7" hard swimbaits.

Deep, the only problem with your swimmie combo is that it's not in my hands. :D

Shimano FX 2500

6' Shakespeare Graphite Series M/F

8# Stren

...seriously.

ummmm....I have no comment to say on that one!!! :P:blink:

St Croix Avid 7' mh/f

Shimano Core 50mg

Yo-Zuri hybrid

just my favorite rig, and 90% of the time has a T-rig on it! Plus my wife bought it for me, so it's my fav!

I have that same rod and while I like it, it seems to be a bit tip heavy to me. Now the Core on the other hand...Im drooling over that thing. Yozuri Hybrid is some great line too.

Questionable rod with questionable guides on a questionable blank with a questionable warranty from an otherwise excellent company.

The reel doesn't suck at all.

The line does.

What do you drive?

Ford F150 XLT. I spend my money on things that matter; diamonds for my wife, gear for me.

Can't touch Hooligan's reel (I have a Curado on my 893c), so I'll go with:

Dobyns DX743c

Curado 200e7

12# Trilene Fluorocarbon

NB,

I've never seen a Dobyn's, but I can +1 the Curado 200E7...

My fav is: Falcon McClellan 7'2" MH/MF Swim Jig rod

Revo MGX-HS

12# Berkley Vanish "for the time being"

@ TossinHooks props for the MGX-HS

I don't really know which one I like better, so I will post both.

Shimano Curado 201E7

6'9" MH Daiwa Ballistic

40lb. Power Pro Braid

Daiwa Tierra 2500

6'6" M G. Loomis GL2

8lb. Trilene XL Armor coated

Not Familiar with the rod but the Curado is a great reel.

8.5/10

Abu Garcia Veritas M-MF, awesome spinnerbait rod!

Revo Premier 6.4:1

17# Vicious Flurocarbon

BassHole, I don't know anything about at all about your set-up.

Mine is...

GLoomis MBR844C-IMX H-F

Shimano Calais 100A, I just bought the reel off of EBAY. When it get's here, it will go on the rod.

The rod is one of my favorites: 10

Same with the reel: 10

I have heard a lot of great things about the line.

My favorite:

MBR842C/ Core 50MG/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12

This isn't an "all-around" rig, but it's perfect

for small swimbaits, Rage Tail Space Monkey, Smokin'

Rooster, Silver Buddy, single tail grubs, and

swimming small jigs.

:D :D :D

Kent,

I've heard of G Loomis. I think they are manufactured 25 minutes from my home but I don't own one.

The Core is pretty high tech but I recall you had one for sale some time back ?

The line is the bomb. I read your OPS on it when I joined and it's all I use now.

My 10 of 10 combo........ POPIEL POCKET FISHERMAN with #6 WhoKnows mono.

GAME OVER

Rod: 9/10

Reel 9.8/0

Line: 8/10

I like the feel of Cores, the ergonomics are excellent. They feel a tad hollow to me, otherwise a very good reel.

The 852, I've heard, is an excellent rod.

YZ has too much stretch for my liking.

Curado 50E

Cumara 7'2 MH/F

14# Sunline Super FC Sniper

8/10

Wish it was a Core 50, but I love this little 50e's and happen to have a few myself. :D Cumara's are a super stout rod, and are downright hard to beat for the money. Good set-up I like it.

Stradic 2500FI

Cumara 7'2 MXF

8# P-line CXX

Shakey head combo.

Reel 9/10 love my Stradics, have at least 3

Rod 8/10 really like them, just like my Dobyns better

Line - won't comment, let's say its not my favourite

Legend Elite 7' MH

Chronarch Mg51

Sufix 832 30lb with Flouro leader

jigs and t-rigs

rod: 10 out of 10. Nice rods.

reel: 9 out of 10. Never fished one but heard they were the stuff.

line: 5-10. Line is a preference thing and I tried suffix and just didn't like it.

I would love to have that rig with different line! LOL Nice outfit!

Reel: Quantum Tour KVD 150 SPT 6.6:1

Rod: Quantum KVD Tour Cast 1. 6'9" Fast Taper

Spinnerbaits

Reel: 7 out of 10 (Not a big Quantum reel guy, but I have heard a few good things about that reel)

Rod: 8 out of 10 (I do like the KVD rods)

Line: 7 out of 10 (Never used this line, but not a huge fan of mono.

Overall: 7.66/10

Reel: Shimano Curado 50e

Reel: Shimano Curado 50e

Rod: 7' MH/F Avid

Line: 15lb Invizx

Use for T-rigs.

Great little reel, without a doubt one of the best values in light line reels.

Avid is a great line of rods, again one of the best bang for your buck rods out there.

InvizX is a fine line, it isn't my first choice, but it's a good mainstream fluoro.

Chronarch 100MG

Cumara CUC77M

12lb Tatsu

Lipless baits and squarebill up to 2.5 size.
