Swap Cassette Player With Cd Player

Featured Replies

So i just upgraded my current boat...well, i guess i shouldnt say upgarded since the old on is still sitting in my yard but my 1990 bass tracker that i just bought has a working cassette or a track..something like that player in it. And before i got my Ford Fusion my old Grand Am had a Pioneer CD/mp3 player which i took out before the car was junked. And i was thinking...it really cant be that difficult to swap out the two right? maybe some minor modification if at all...i know this means dick unless i got pics and stuff but the boat dont get dropped off until next week but just wanted to know if it was even worth it.

Usually you'd install a water proof marine model in a boat, but if it's collecting dust, I don't see the problem. Make sure it won't get wet.

Yea I was going to do some modding in regards to keeping it water proof, a simple plastic housing for the face plate or cover or something. Im not too worried about it like you said its just collecting dust

It's just a couple of wires and maybe some filler in the front depending on the size difference between what you took out and whats going in. If you decide to keep the 8 track, I would bet there might be some older members here with some 8track tapes kicking around not getting use...

Wait. You have a boat with an 8-track player in it? How awesome is that?!

Almost as awesome as if it had a paddlewheel on each side.

No way, I'm with Robert....8 tracks have nostalgic cool, appeal.

Always wanted to add one in my Comet Convertible, but never got around to it.

Used to have an 8 track adaptor to play cassettes back in the 70's Could rock out with modern technology in the car

That technology back then is the equivalent of today's Ipod.

Shouldn't be too hard, just re-wire what was already there. U might want to think about adding an I/O switch with an inline fuse if it doesn't already have something like that installed. It is pretty bad *** if the thing has an 8 track player in it tho lol
