One of our fellow South Florida captains spent the afternoon in the hospital after freak split shot accident. Capt. Steve was helping a client free up a split shot weighted senko when it came back and hit him in the neck.

Steve said, "They had to have a plastic surgeon come and cut it out after the Dr. in the ER cut an inch long gash in my neck and could not get to it...and that was with the line still crimped in the weight".

OUCH!!!

Another reason to make sure you wear sunglasses when you fish.

Okay, not funny. There had to be some incredible force for that splitshot to bury itself in his neck.

i got hung on the other side of a small creek one time. i did everything i could and couldnt get free.

i was fishing a "bullet" weighted t-rig. i stepped behind a bid tree and start pullingto break off. the weight came back so hard it was stuck in the tree and bent into a "U" shape.

I took an ounce and a half bullet weight to the side of the head. I still twitch at the sight of tungsten.

Amen to that one. I had a trap come flying back while trying to get it loose, left a little dent mark on the side of my sunglasses. Scariest moment fishing without a doubt. Not only do I now always remember to keep on the sunglasses, even if I think I don't need them, but I've worked on better ways of getting unstuck!

had a heavy jig head come loose from a tree I was snagged on and smoke me in the balls. Luckily the hook missed but that didnt keep me from laying in the bottom of the boat for a minute and almost caused my buddy to fall overboard mostly from him laughing and me trying to throw him overboard but o well lol.

Ouch, that had to hurt. Totally agree with the sunglasses comment too. I once pulled a lipless crank free from a snag only to have it shoot out of the water and hit my shades dead center on the right lens. Could have been a very bad way to end a day of fishing.

Ouch! Thad worse then my crankbait trebles to the temple and forehead last spring. I'll take the trebles over that split shot any day

So they got it out??? I can see my buddies saying "hey just pull the string". yeah they would even hold me down and call me a wimp, lol

Looks like Mr McDonald if I had to guess. If so I may need to go crack a couple jokes at him for that one.... Glad everything worked out. That's a dangerous area to have something get lodged into you. Looks awfully close to the Carotid artery. Bet that didn't feel good at all.
