My addiction with bass jigs has grown a lot. However, I have been losing jigs . I have 1 jig left from Stacey king kit but I do have a lot of trailers. I was wondering if you guys preferred the jig and pig or simply pegging a weight to a trailer? Or if you are indifferent.

The similarities between a Jig & Texas rig end at used to penetrate vegetation; I personally do not peg my bullet weight even when punching grass.

Buy more jigs and don't be afraid to lose them.

Otherwise, if you are fishing shallow go weightless

and weedless with soft plastics. If you are fishing

deep, soft plastics weedless and unpegged.

I fish lots of rock piles and rip rap.  I plan to lose at least 1/2 dozen jigs per trip.  That is just part of fishing around here.

If you are losing jigs then you are fishing in the right place where the bass should be. Odds are you will probably lose your plastic and weight anyway unless you are skin hookin the plastic to make it weedless. The only difference in what you want to do with the bait is that you will eliminate the sillicone skirt that the jig has. Buy more jigs.

I forgot to mention in my last post to check your line for nicks and also check your knots a lot. Re-tie frequently. Maybe change your line to braid. Good luck.

3/4 oz parasite weights and a Paca craw are tough to beat. Since I discovered that setup, I have not and will not throw a jig.

Match your jigs to the cover you are fishing!

You will be amazed at how many less jigs you loose when you get it right.  I'm not saying you still won't loose jigs, just not as many.

Use a jig with a tapering bullet head and a verticle line tie in grass. Use one with a rounder head and a horizontal line tie around rocks and wood.

As for the Jig vs T rig.  Some time the fish prefer one over the other.  You just have to try both till you figure 'em out.  Though generally I throw a jig in cooler temps and/or when I want a big profile.

Build your own jig and they'll be 50 cents a piece; then you wont mind throwing them to where the big girls live

It is hard to beat a jig and craw, if you want a bigger profile use a jig and lobster.
