  1. Shad, If you look back in history at previous suggestions you will notice that we (Glenn and Mods) usually don't respond to any ideas. It's not that we don't like them. We read them and then discuss them with each other. Then Glenn decides if it is possible or not. If you ask any of us who have been around a while we will tell you that not much has changed and changes only happen once or twice a year. Putting new ideas into effect takes time, planning, and sometimes lots of money. If you only knew how many ideas us Mods have had that we have discussed and in the end just couldn't happen you would understand. So don't get upset about it. It was nothing personal against you. So don't attack us for not responding.
  2. That's a great buck. 163 sounds a little big but you put the tape measure to it. Just looking at it and compairing it to mine on the wall I would say it's probably in the low to mid 150's. But those main beams are huge between G1 and G3. They may bring it back up to the 160's.
  3. That's what, three or four years from now?
  4. Outstanding RW. Those are great.
  5. Because Varner is mostly underwater cover and subtle structure, time on the water is your best bet at understanding it. It was a thorn in my side untill this year when I started going regularly. I have put several thousand miles on my truck to get it done but it was well worth it. I now have confidence in that lake and it feels great.
  6. If he is talking about Lake Varner then "fast" is only 4 to 5 mph. It's an electric boat only lake. So to run and gun 100% of the time is pointless.
  7. I run and gun untill I catch a fish and then I slow down and fish that spot out good.
  8. Running and gunning is great if you don't know where the active fish are. (Randall is a huge run and gun fisherman if he hasn't found them.) But once you catch one or two fish it's time to slow down and figure out why they are there and what they are looking for. The fact is that bass are schooling fish. They don't occupy on spot like a crappie but the hang out in an area moving in and out as a school to feed. Just like in September when Randall and I finished #1 and #2 in that Varner tournament. We had found the spots by running around looking for spots that matched the pattern that Randall had found the week prior. In my three days of prefishing I only caught 4 fish, but I wasn't looking for fish. I knew that if I found a spot that matched the pattern (green grass in 5ft close to deeper water) I would find fish there come tournament day. I ran around the lake pulling up grass with a heavy jig for three days. I found three spots and that is where I fished. Come tournament day I camped out on those three spots and the rest is history. When you get your boat. Take him out with you, try the run and gun thing until you find them. Then slow down and clean house. Show him how it's done.
  9. 9.98 Largemouth on a Mojo Rigged, Watermelon Gold Trickworm, #1 offset Gammy worm hook, 8lb Seagar Florocarbon, and a Med-Light G-Blank Costom Spinning Rod. Oh, and senko77 with the net.
  10. I'm gonna have to go with troutfisher on this one. My dream care will be my next and it going to look exactly like this.
  11. The first thing I would do is put that front seat in the center of the boat. There isn't many things worse than fishing while leaning sideways.
  12. How long was the hair, and what color was it, white or brown. I can usually tell where the shot was by looking at the type of hair that is left on the ground. Just by the deer's reaction, it sounds like either a low liver shot or a shot that went low and clipped both front legs without hitting the bone too much. With a liver shot you should have found blood. But with the leg shot he is in the next county.
  13. Exactly, I would go with the Fuego. I own two of them.
  14. Lane and Toni are the experts on this subject. They make the stuff you put in the live well to keep the fish calm and stress free. It's called Please Release Me and Catch and Release. I have used the stuff and it's great. I used it when I caught my 25lb limit with a 9.98 kicker. I kept them in a larger cooler with an aerator and added Please Release Me. The fish were calm the whole time and hardly ever jump around in the cooler. The two big fish were in the cooler for almost 6 hours and the picture shows what they looked like just before we released them. Notice very little red in the tails. The statistics on the additive is that 98% of fish kept in a live well with Please Release Me survive even after being released. I would suggest if you are serious about the health of the fish in your live well they you read about this stuff on Lane's website ( http://www.sure-life.com/pro_catch_and_release.html ) and decide if it's worth a try. Or you can just talk to them when we get to Fork. They are bringing their holding tank for our SALs. 8-) On a side note. The other additive that is available Rejuvenaid, is not good for your fish. It has garlic in it witch is an irritant to the bass and causes a large amount of stress to the bass. If you use it you will notice that the fish are very active and jump around in the live well and scale basket allot giving the false impression that the fish are doing fine. You will also notice that after a couple of hours in Rejuvenaid that the very edge of the bass's gills will turn white due to the lack of blood. This means that the fish is not getting the proper amount of oxygen it needs to survive for very long after you release. The death rate with Rejuvenaid is staggering. Lane, Feel free to jump in on this when you log on.
  15. One of our members (Triton Mike) used to be sponsored by Powell Rods and is still good friends with the man that designed the Max series. He would be a good contact for a honest opinion on them. Just send him a PM.
  16. I bet Lane knows the answer, but I will tell you what my experience with it is. I have noticed that bass's fins and tails get access blood flow when stressed. Like while being kept in a livewell for several hours.
  17. What the crap. > I guess I am jinxed. Those fish are great.
  18. I am part of a group of guys that build electric-only boats. We have tested just about everything out there and we have settled on the Minn Kota for power, battery efficiency, and all around ruggedness. It is heads and shoulders above the other motors.
  19. I guess you could blame it on human nature. But I feel the same way sometimes.
  20. Now I can put a face with a name when we get to Fork. Great fish RW. Proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
  21. You are more that welcome to come along, and that goes for anyone else who would like to give it a go. It is going to be one heck of a good time.
  22. Like you said, Just whack it off with a cutter. And weld the hole shut.
  23. 300 Opti Minn Kota Humminbird 987c at the dash Humminbird 787c2 Combo on the bow
  24. Requesting a new picture of RW please.
