  1. It will be my first time out this year. Not sure if there will be even a thawed spot to fish. But I'm going to make the 15 minute trip to find out. Temp outside will be around 40. If I do find some open water what would you recommend? Especially if there is only a little bit of un-iced water. Might not be worth going but I really just want to get a line wet. If anything I can at least practice my new baitcasters.
  2. Beauty of a fish. Congrats!
  3. Caught my personal best smallmouth on one. I actually had a GULP shakey worm on it. Think it's a fluke because I haven't caught anything on the GULP since.
  4. They shipped it. I'm in the money! Well not really. But a few extra bucks ain't to shabby. 8-) There is no way I will keep it. My 200d came in today and that's probably as large of a reel I would want to throw all day.
  5. $9.37 for up to 14 lb test. Not worth it if that's all you plan on getting with shipping at 4 bucks and some change but there are some other items on sale that could make it a deal. Picked up some Bomber Square As along with some of the 14 lb test Fluoro. Just a heads up. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=37510&hvarTarget=search&hvarAID=&cmCat=3334205
  6. I'm thinking the same thing is going to happen to me. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
  7. Thanks Carp! I bought a Revo S from an Ebay store a couple weeks ago. Going to mail my rebate in right now. Wasn't even aware they were offering it. Thanks for the heads up.
  8. I know....I know..... But making money sounds good as well. If it was a 200 size than I probably would keep it. Not sure what good the 300 can do to me. I was thinking about swimbaits but than I have to buy another rod/lures. So it will cost me more money in the long run anyway. :-/
  9. lol I made the purchase before I posted this thread. Hopefully they will ship it. Still trying to decide if I want to make some money on this or keep the reel for 60 bucks after rebate. Choices....choices....
  10. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_73517_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 Now I may end up using this and I may not. Depends how it feels. Like Alpster told me in a PM, it's pretty big and heavy for a bass reel. So in the end after rebate I will have payed 60 dollars for a 249.99 dollar reel. I'm happy. ;D EDIT: Must have been a mistake on there end. Link doesn't work anymore. My order is still up and processing though. Time will tell if they ship it.
  11. I like the knobs on my Revo S the best.
  12. Two for me. Anymore would be a pain if your moving around.
  13. 79.99 Pretty good deal for those looking for them. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90572_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1
  14. Nice! Nothing like a 20 incher to start off the year. Hopefully by mid April I will have my first one as well. Waters still iced up!
  15. I bought around three shoe box ful worth of plastics this winter. Along with 4 new rod and reel setups. Two storage boxes worth of jigs and one 3700 full of new cranks. It's fun though. Passes the time until spring comes. Especially just getting back into the sport last summer. Now I won't "need" as much stuff come next winter. But I'll bet I buy just as much. : As far as your bag goes. My stuff won't fit in my tackle bag now. It use to before the winter but not now. Just take what you think your going to use. That way you won't be overwelmed with choices. Store what your not going to take in shoe boxes or Plano boxes for your hard lures.
  16. I use there T-mac worm.
  17. Didn't even think about Reel Mech. Before I read all these responses I ran a thin line of super glue around the border. Worked like a charm. So no more worries. Adjusted the brakes and now I'm ready to go. The only thing that I do not like about the brake system is that the collars are very hard to snap from the "off" position to the "on" position. My citicas snap back and forth really easy. Are these collars plastic or will they hold up to the force it needs to snap them on and off.
  18. very well thought out points.so as far as for bass rods that just about leaves lamiglass,st.croix and loomis as the only 3 whose lifetime warranty means lifetime. I would say Shimano as well.
  19. Curious to where you picked that up at. Nice looking reel for the price. Wouldn't mind picking one up for a beater rod when I head out into the woods.
  20. Never held a Carrot stix. Own a 6'8" AS68MXF spinning model and LOVE it. Very very light and the blank is very strong. Lifetime warranty on the Avid.
  21. I'm retarded...........seriously. Being new to baitcasters I was used to getting to the brakes with the Shimano lineup and the BPS lineup. With a dial or turnkey access. I read the manual for the Revo but it didn't say how to open up the spot with the brakes. So I'm looking at that thumb rest on the left hand side and thought to myself....."Looks like that will come off.". : :'( :-? Well it did come off but so did the little tabs that kept that into place. :'( Only after than did I see the stupid screw on the opposite side that undid the sideplate. > My own stupid fault. So that thumb rest cover is not secure because one tab broke off that keeps it in place. Would running a small about of super glue around the edge of the cover keep it in place? Will it bond the plastic? So so far my Revo experience is already tarnished by my stupidity and lack of thinking. Not to mention the brake system doesn't look as "sturdy" as the Citicas. Love the feel of it in my hands though. Definately love the paddles.
  22. What other 100 dollar reels and brands have you used , in order to make this comparison? Just going off what I have seen so far. My REVO S came in yesterday. The Citicas seem to be put together a lot better IMO. The REVO S seems to be smoother but not as quiet. When I went home and opened up my Revo I was happy but the Centerfuge Brake system doesn't look as good as the Citica IMO. The VBS system of the Citicas are very nice. Plus the access to the braking system on the Shimanos is a LOT easier to get to than the Revo. Took me a bit to find out how to even get to the REVO S brakes. So who knows for right now. Until I fish them I won't have an opinion that really MATTERS. On looks alone the Shimano system looks more "sturdy" and well built.
  23. Mine just came into work today. Been playing with it a bit. Really really smooth. Smoother than my Citica 100 for sure. The real test will come when it's time to hit the water but I'm thinking this sucker is going to need some extra thumb control to keep it under wraps. Really like the feel and profile of it. Deftinately going to throw it on my all purpose setup.
  24. Good to know. Pretty much have all the setups I "need" now for different applications. Fish the horny toad last year and hookups were horrible. But I was also using what I could afford at the time.....a 7 foot medium action cheap spinning rod. Can't wait to use these new setups. Thanks again guys.
  25. What did you find it best suited for? I'll find out for myself eventually but I would like to here your take.
