Bait snob
I have a couple high priced lures. But in the end I go back to my plastics and have far better luck "usually" than my more expensive hard lures. All this tackle isn't needed and I'm guilty of wanting to scoop everything up that I can. If I went back to my roots as a kid and just had a small tackle box with one or two packs of plastics and a couple of rapalas than I would be doing just as well as I am now. In the places that I fish anyway. I would agree with the marketing statement that was made. Sure some lures have better components and artwork....but in the end is the fish really going to be inspecting it? Usually not.

Water temps and plastic fall rates
Okay I guess what I'm really asking is what do the fish like in a fall rate of a bait during warm and cold seasons. Probably a smaller weight in the fall and something heavier weight in the warmer months correct? That is what I'm truley getting at. Sorry if I didn't explain it well enough last time. Hard to type my thoughts. ;D

Lake going downhill fast...
I understand where he is coming from though........and sometimes you have to act selfish to keep the fishing good in your neck of the woods.

Shad Shape Worm - GYCB
Thanks for your thoughts. I may try them on a spinnerbait as a trailer too. This is also a reason why I only buy one pack of a first time bait. If I don't like it them I'm not out of any serious money. If I love them than I will buy more.

Watching My Line
Yellow is bad? Chart is the best producing color for me on spinnerbaits. Parrot, hot mustard, firetiger, and many other Rapale crankbaits have lots of yellow and they catch lots of fish too. Would you be able to look up the book later and see if what you wrote is correct? Seems weird. I think he is talking about using yellow as a LINE color is not the best move for line selection. I could be wrong though.

Calling Dodgeguy!
Dodgerguy I'm looking to by one more spool of line to try this year. I already have Invizx, BPS XPS Fluoro, Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft, and I also want to give this red line a go. Is it the Cajun Red "Advantage" brand? I thought I saw a couple different cajun lines.

Keeping a bass as a pet?
Than I wouldn't even think about keeping a bass until you have kept smaller fish like guppies or tetras. There is a TON of work involved to get the community up and running. Just like FishChris said. The tank needs to be cycled. Tank needs to be vacuumed once a week with about a 1/3 of the water emptied out. Fish need to be monitored for diseases.....filters need to be replaced and cleaned....temps need to be fairly stable.....water movement needs to be there for some species. It's not like putting a gold fish in a bowl and thats that. Fish tanks are a TON of work with just small tropical species. Even just keeping my Oscar in the 55 gallon was a big chore with keeping the water clean and fresh for him. I had a couple big filters going just for him. Do your research on fish keeping community forums. There great for learning. Than make your decision. The cost alone for a starting up a tank for a fish the size of a bass is going to be over a thousand dollars easily. Tank size....filter systems....filters......gravel......wood......plants.....water stabilizers.....pumps....food....etc. I mean just BUYING THE EMPTY TANK will run you close to a grand.

Plastic Swimbait tips - swimming senkos etc
I use an unweighted, 4/0 GY Sugoi hook(EWG hooks of other makes will work too but the Sugois are my hook of choice for 10 years) on my Swimming Senkos. If your SSs are twirling, then you are reeling too fast or the SS isn't dead-straight on the hook. The SS will have plenty of tail action at a slow retrieve. I've had 4 and 5 lbers pick one up in shallow(where I could see them) water even by dead-sticking it. They are a fine bait but fish them slowly. Dan Thanks Dan. That is one question that I was glad to get an answer on. It has been so long that I'm not sure how fast I was retrieving it. I do remember throwing the bait on the hook fast though. So I'm betting that it wasn't straight on the bait. Thanks for your response.

Plastic Swimbait tips - swimming senkos etc
Ordered some Bass Pro XPS Grub heads that are similar in hopes of using them on the Swimming Senkos and possibly the paddle tail knock offs. But I was looking at those hedz before hand.

Shad Shape Worm - GYCB
Going to try and use them Saturday morning. With daylight savings time coming I'm not going to have too many days left to fish due to my work hours.

Broken Rod :(
Funny.....I thought I busted mine yesterday after I got a lure stuck in the brush on the bank. I walked over with the line tight (stupid I know) and than got slapped in the face with a pricker bush and than fell. I thought for sure I busted my Avid. But she hung in there.

Shad Shape Worm - GYCB
I've read that as well. Going to give them a whirl on the wiggle rig to see how they work that way. It's always exciting to get a new bait that you have no clue how erratic it can be. 8-)

Shad Shape Worm - GYCB
Just got a pack of cherry coke ones in. Should I fish them like a fluke/jerkbait? They were cheap so I decided to give them a whirl. Picture doesn't do them justice. There definately a different kind of lure. Round body tophalf with a flat bottom. Going to have to play with this one to find out what works best.

Water temps and plastic fall rates
Just some info that I would like to collect. Ordered a good amount of different sizes of tungsten worm weights. Now I want to use the correct size in different situations. I know that I want a heavier weight to punch through mats and grass. But what about water temps and fall rates? Take for instance if I'm rigging a power worm and I may be looking for strikes on the drop. Cold water.....slower fall rate? Warm water.......faster fall rate? Muddy conditions? Clear conditions? Thoughts on weight usuage. I bought 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 for now. I may go bigger if needed but the 1/2 punchs the mats just fine in my waters.

Texas Rig trick
Yes but sometimes you want that weight up against the hook. Especially when fishing mats or just stabilizing a certain bait. Most of the time I do have my weight go free. But when I want to punch through those thick weed mats..I want that weight hugging my plastic.

Does your head hurt too????
I agree. Lots of choices. The other day my head was hurting while planning my big offseason order.

Keeping a bass as a pet?
I agree. Just go with an oscar. Seriously they are very very lively and they actually will welcome you when you come near the tank. Mine used to jump out of the water and grab shrimp out my my fingers. He died a couple years later though when I went away. Electric went off in my house and it messed my whole system up. Got a disease and died. :'( 55 gallon minimum for one oscar though. Do not try two unless you have a 100 gallon tank. They will beat up on each other and stress will come into play.

Is right now a good time to try the X-Rap?
Okay so this post got me wanting to try my small xraps up here in the cold Northeast. Caught two......both bluegill lol. Must be they were in the way or brushed up against it because I snagged both. :'( Got them free quickly though and they same off fine. No takers from the bass though. I tied on a actual GYCB watermeleon senko and threw it in the same spots that I ran the xrap through and caught two 13" inchers. I fished it like a jerkbait too. Guess I just have more confidence in my plastics as of right now. But I'm not going to stop with the jerk..jerk...jerk...pause either. Fun bait to fish and I did the vary the pause with 3 to 10 second stops. But no takers.

Plastic Swimbait tips - swimming senkos etc
That is why you stick the eye of the hook up through the baits nose instead of threading the whole weighted hook through the nose. Little tip that tackletour shared. Also this post wasn't just for swimming senkos.....that was just my example of the type of swimbait I'm talking about. It was more toward the shad shapped swimbaits and the basstrix knockoffs.

Plastic Swimbait tips - swimming senkos etc
just went on tackle tour and those are the hooks that they reccomend. Yes I picked up some 4/0. Also going to pick up some 5/0 for my larger flukes from Brent.

Texas Rig trick
No I don't have pics. Just go to BassPro.com and search for sinker stops.
