  1. I agree. If your going to hold them horizantol like that than make sure your supporting the belly area with your other hand. Too much stress is being applied to there jaw area. Something I'm trying to teach my son more about.
  2. Big bass doesn't have to be a trophy bass though. Like I said.....20" bass are big bass up in my parts and a 3" senko will get them up on shore.
  3. I use to think the same thing until my wife started pulling out some nice 18 and 20" bass with a 3" watermelon gold senko. Those are some big bass for up here in NY. So the answer is yes.....you can catch some bigger bass on a 3" senko.
  4. I see the point in the C-rig but I don't have the proper rod for it. I also hate to cast it. Tried it once and really did not care for it. So I go with a split shot rig from shore. Not as good as feeling out whats down there with the smaller weight, but it still does the job.
  5. Fat Ikas in natural colors on those drop offs have produced some nice bass for me. Sometimes even in only a couple feet of water.
  6. Right now I'm only fishing maybe once or twice a week. Summer time it's at least 4 times a week if not more. My four main spots are all equal distance away from me. It's great to be smack dab in the middle of everything. Pretty much a 10 minute drive to all of them. Fish from the shore if I only have a couple hours but I will bring my raft with me if I plan on fishing for more than two hours.
  7. Well last night the bite was on like Donkey Kong. No pictures because I didn't bring my camera so your just going to have to trust me. Again the Fat Ika in Green Pumpkin Black Flake was a killer. Caught a couple of nice 3lbers and a bunch of two pounders. Total fish were ten in 45 minutes. If the fish didn't hit on the intial fall than they hit after jigging it up and down off the bottom slowly. In spurts of 8 seconds of deadsticking. So you were right JWO it didn't change nothing as of last night but I'm interested on what is going to happen in the next couple days when it stays at this 50 degree mark.
  8. I think some of you guys need to chill. The kid just wants to see some pics of fish that were caught on a senko. Don't like it......than don't post. No need to tell him that he is beating a dead horse. I post here everyday and I don't skip over these "Senko" threads. The thing I like about the plastic stick baits is that anyone can fish them and catch some nice quality fish. Like my wife and son. My sons fish. My wifes fish Brents Trick Stick has been my #1 bait this year in many colors. I'll post some of those pictures later. I don't have them with me at work. Keep catching those fish Dave. And remember no thread is a stupid thread. Keep it up with your nice pics.
  9. Hey everyone. Going to start putting some more cranks in my tacklebag. Right now I have a Bandit 100 series in Baby Bass and the rest are just lipless rattletraps. So I'm looking for lipped crankbaits for this situation. One small 80 acre lake with a man made dam. Around 18 foot around the dam. Shoreline drops from 4-8 foot in most spots. Shore lines are mostly weeds with some brush. Fish this small lake in my raft. Some rocky structure as well. Bluegill, pumpkinseed and some small white perch and yellow perch are the smaller fish in the lake. With some brook trout scattered through out. Not sure if there are crayfish in there or not. Catt Creek for smallies: shale and rock structure....nothing for weeds....fish the current and calm waters. Minnows, crayfish, and creek chubs are the main food source. Any baits that you have in mind that could help me out here? I want it to be known that I'm not going to be buying expensive cranks. Especially if I take them down to the Catt where hangups do occur. Something in the price range of 6 dollars max.
  10. http://www.***.com/descpage-O5139.html Been fishing these now for the past month and my hookups have been great with the 4/0 and 5/0 hooks. Doesn't take much of a flick of the wrists to set these hooks. That cut into the fish clean and they stay put. Not noticing big gaps in the fish from these hooks. That probably is due to not having to set the hook hard . This is resulting in a lot more fish being landed for me. Just very impressed. I was a Gammy and Lazer Sharp user before but I think from here on out its going to be Owner for my larger EWG style hooks. Using the 4/0s last night on my Ika I was able to land some nice 3lbers out of my dads pond. I guess the point of my post is to give these a try in the bigger 4/0 and 5/0 sizes. Very impressed.
  11. Lol that's why so many dudes are divorced in this country. We smart men learn that a secret to a good marriage is to keep the wife happy. ;D :'(
  12. A Zebco spincast combo. THought that was the ultimate rig. Than I saw a spinning setup and was wondering what the crap was that! Bought my boy his first combo this summer. Mitchell Espirt spinning combo 6 foot rod. Caught some nice bass for him. He wanted a Zebco spincast as well but I would have none of that. ;D Nothing like getting a birdsnest out of a Zebco. You myswell just throw the darn thing out.
  13. Wow...... My wife would kill...... 8-)
  14. See thats my beef with it. I want as less stretch as possible with my plastics. Going to try BPS XPs Flouro in 8lb next year.
  15. Not sure what the temps for you guys are today but we are around 50. Want to get out so bad today because it is a nice rain free day but not sure if anything will be biting since it has dropped around 25 degrees. Thoughts on weapon selection? 8-)
  16. Have you tried Zoom? Sometimes there are colors out there in production that aren't even on the internet.
  17. Yeah they have been the same as you up here just south of Buffalo. But now were back into the 50s again this week so were back on our Fall schedule. Will get blasted with snow here in a couple of weeks. Happens all the time. We got slammed in the beginning of October last year with a MONSTER snow storm. So we up here in Buffalo.......we don't get that Global warming propaganda. ;D Just enjoying the fishing while I can on some of these nice days sprinkled in.
  18. They sure are one ugly fish lol.
  19. Just can't bring myself to buying those. Even if I did I know that I would rather tie on a big powerworm or something else. Just not a fan of those gimic lures. IMO the fish would probably hit anything when there hitting the snakes.
  20. Almost looks like a purplish junebug color on mine. Nice looking color. I need to start tying them on again. Gave up on it a while back.
  21. Exactly. I'm happy to just be out there working a lure. Catching the fish to me is the bonus. Big or small it doesn't matter to me.
  22. Quality fish right there. Good job! 8-)
  23. Brought a smile on my face but it also brought a thought of I don't understand? Being a good christian man I didn't say that out loud lol. I just wish they were in the main resevoir though. THere not going to survive in this small stream. That is what is so odd. I have no clue how they got there. So its not like I found a new smallie spot. Because there is no way nothing of size could be in only a couple inches of water.
  24. I only have a Dicks Sporting Goods by me. Never have I walked out empty handed. The best that I ever did though was walk out with only one pack of Fat Ikas. I was a proud man for standing up to the bait monkey that day. Usually I'm dropping at least 50 bucks. If we actually get our BPS store here in Buffalo than my wallet is going to be hurting.
  25. Yep...... It's a no win situation though when I have to go into Victoria Secrets with her. I always get slapped for looking at the sales associates. Truthfully I don't check them out because of the fear from my wife. But I get punched in the arm anyway lol. But the pain wears off as soon as I set foot in Dicks sporting goods and I check out the sales rack. ;D
