  1. I'm down for tonight.... 4bizz finally hooked me up with ethernet cable. Haven't created a gamertag yet but will tonight.... SWEEET!!!
  2. x1. For those small baits, you don't really need a "Swimbait Rod" If you already have a flippin stick, or even a Heavy rated rod, you might just consider pulling double duty with them. If you don't have a rod that can handle 1.5 oz baits, then the 7'6" MH Okuma that you mentioned would be perfect for your needs at the moment.
  3. I read his Wake Bait article and I like that he gives information from first hand experience. Seen the fish he has caught, too. Steve is a class act guy... I've had the pleasure of hanging out with him a few times. (First time I ever ran into him I launched a 10" wakebait at his boat from shore : He was getting to close to my area). But most recently I got to spend a day with him on the boat during a tourney. I didn't fish but gained a huge amount of knowledge just chatting with him for 8 hours. Definately one of the most knowledgable anglers I've ever talked to. Not only in the fishing tackle, equipment, catching aspect, but the forage, water, seasonal characteristics aspect as well. Chris - To your original post: that lake is different than any other lake i've been to. Like I wrote you in the PM awhile back, it always seems like your fishing two different lakes at times. I do find that especially during storms, going into the river arm always helps my "Catching" ability. That and the fact that during a storm the main body can get pretty wild .

  5. Tell us what your going to throw!!! I will tell you that the 7'6" H is a GREAT all around rod. it can handle a variety of swimbaits. All the way from 1.2 oz 3:16 minnows to 8" ROF16 hudds and everything inbetween. It holds up well to abuse and is at a great price point. The only complaint I have is the hook keeper SUCKS!!! I ended up drilling a hole in the trigger for a hook to pass through. As far as the 7'11" MH goes, you could expect to throw most swimbaits in the light to medium/light range. I would personally go with the Heavy rod, just because it gives you more versatility in weights of bait. You can still throw the smaller baits (1oz). The MH might throw baits down to 3/4 oz, but i'm sure you already have rods that can throw 3/4 oz baits, therfore there is no reason for another. Anyway, it really depends on what you are going to throw. Just remember one thing, even though you might only throw small 1-3 oz baits now, think about the future and if you start to really get into swimbaiting, your going to want to upgrade.
  6. I want one of those!! ;D
  7. Topwater can be worked all the time. I find that it works just about anywhere during morning and night (Points, coves, etc) During the day I find that it works best around cover, shade, drop offs, etc.
  8. I use these - http://www.***.com/descpage-OOW.html 7/0 for 7-10" worms. 11/0 for 10'+
  9. LOL, That night when I was fishing that scene popped into my head.... Funny stuff. On the way home from the lake (1am) I stopped at the bridge to see if I could see the deer... that's when I realized how far it dropped to it's death. Needless to say I couldn't see it from the top of the bridge.
  10. It's been awhile since I've messed with the map setting's for mine, but I believe that "Navionics" will NOT be one of the choices in the map list. I beleive there will be a few choices of different states. But I beleive the choices won't say California, or Nevada, it will be some jibberish words like CA93442kdsks or something similar. What are your options from your map list? : 8-) and blonde? ;D Glad you "Finally" got it working .... have fun with it. I know it's helped me out a lot on my lakes!!!
  11. not even the hot ones... whats the point? :-/ http://www.fox40.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-ml-egypt-mutilation,0,2313849.story *NOTE* - The male "genital" is mentioned in proper terms in this artical
  12. I'm no clear lake expert whatsover, nor do I fish there, but I can say that bank fishing isn't easy from what I have heard and seen. A majority of the shorline is private property. 90% of the remaing "Public" shoreline is not fishable. Good luck bank fishing I would suggest renting a boat for the day, or getting a tube. As far as baits, the frog bite seems to be happening up there right now. I don't think you could go wrong with topwater baits . Throwing any baits with exposed trebles up there might be a nightmare... especially from shore. That lake can become extremely weedy and I heard this year it's worse. When are you going up there?
  13. Go to Wal Mart and get their 29 series Everstart Deep Cycle Marine batteries. They are Yellow with Black letters They go for $75 +/-
  14. Another 20+ pound bass :-/ hmmmm
  15. Old news man... she died. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing/news/story?page=world_record_bass_dies
  16. So you can't afford a Calcutta but you can afford a Curado 300?? : Well assuming your talking about size 300 and above reels, if that's the case you can find Calcutta 400B's for $150 used. I just bought one for $100 spooled with 65# Power Pro. You can also find the older Curado 300D's for around the same priced used. Besides the obvious size difference, it comes down to personal preference. Do you like Round reels or LP? Both can easily handle medium sized swimbaits and have plenty of line capacity. I used Cardiff's for awhile and they are great for the money, but just recently moved over to all calucutta's. Either way you won't be dissapointed. Good Luck

  18. I do the milk and Mayo addition to my scrambled eggs, so I guess I could see where you are coming from with your invention. My mom always made them with milk and mayo (Just a little bit) so i've always liked it that way. Some people say it's wierd, but they taste blah without it
  19. Good to see that they are useful for at least one thing :-X ;D
  20. You know what, cool stuff like that usually happens for other peoples eyes, so i'm really glad I got to see it. The El Camino didn't seem that damaged as it only hit the upper parts of the legs. The slammer fish were cool at first, but when your throwing big baits at night and you get bit, you automatically thing "BIG FISH" until you get it close to the boat to where you can see it. But after numerous 1lb fish, I was getting pretty frustrated.
  21. So yesterday I took my little cousins out for some trout fishing during the day and my uncle out for some nighttime bass fishing. While the fishing was a lot of fun, the best part of this trip was the drive to the lake... I witnessed one of the most epic suicides ever. So i'm driving on a semi rural highway towing the boat, I'm stuck behind 3 vehicles, a El Camino, and 2 SUV's behind him. We come around a slight bend in the road and come upon a long bridge, maybe a 1/4 mile long and a couple hundred feet high. As we are coming up to it I notice a couple deer that have climbed up the hill from underneath the bridge and are emerging on the side of the bridge. As the El Camino gets closer he notices the deer emerging and starts slowing down (Going 65MPH). The deer, of course, jumps in front of the Camino and gets hit. At this point the El Camino is only going about 35 MPH during impact. The impact more or less just knocks the legs out from under the deer, but from my vantage point I can see everything. I see the deer go on top of the hood, up and over the cab and right into the bed of this El Camino. At this point I'm like "HOLY COW"!!! What are the chances of that. What happens next though just totally blew my mind. After all this went down, the driver of the El Camino seemed to be pretty flustered and pulled over on the shoulder of this bridge. By now he was 200 feet onto the bridge and stopped. Well apparently this impact didn't kill the deer, only flustered him. As I get closer I see the deer jump up in frantic in the bed of this El Camino. You could tell it was scared, startled, and didn't know what to do, so what does it do? It jumps out of the bed of the El Camino and up and over the guardrail of this bridge . 150 feet to it's death :-/. I was in absolute aww. What a way to go though. The two SUV's ahead of me stopped, but I was in a hurry to get to the lake so I kept going. I've never seen anything like it before... But onto the fishing. - my little cousins were able to catch lots of trout. It's always fun to see their faces light up when they catch fish. The night fishing was pretty good as well. I found a pretty good top water bite that produced about 15 fish. The biggest going just under 4#'s on a Mattlures Hard gill. I kept getting lots of 2 pound spots on the gill, so I decided to go bigger to hopefully produce bigger fish. I bumped it up to a 9" slammer, but only got smaller 1 pound fish on it. All in all it was a great trip, and I got to see a part of "Nature" i will never see again. ;D
  22. Like bizz said, If a big girl died on me for some reason, I would definitely honor her and mount it.
  23. LMAO..... Bizz we could add that to the "EPIC NUT TAP" video ;D
  24. After seeing the sneak peeks of this bait over the last year, I really thought we would be looking at a $80+ bait. $70 seems like a steal, as did your hardgill at $50. But once again I have an itch for quality baits. Not all people are like me I have a buddy that i'm fishing with tomorrow who has one of your new baits (He won't tell me how he got it though :-/). He told me if I bring beer, I can throw it ;D
  25. A 11# catfish while bass fishing. She was everybit of 30+ inches. What sucks is I thought it was a GIANT bass because it was fighting so hard and got really excited till my dad netted it.... then I was like WT.H. Caught bigger saltwater fish though
