  1. Bonk em' on the head with your bait. When they will guard the bed, but just won't bite when you put it in front of them, hitting (Not snagging) them with your bait will usually tick them off enough to defend the nest and bite your bait. Each bed fish has a unique character that they will play... it is up to you to figure out who they are playing and then you will know how to approach them... Practice makes perfect
  2. Hmmmm so that explains it J/k Bud ;D I enjoy 2%. I used to drink whole when I was little but ended up getting major stomach issues and had to stop drinking whole milk. I enjoy a glass of whole every once in awhile at a resturant. I cant stand non-fat though... yuck!!!
  3. BINGO!!!! I would start with this. I have most sucess fishing S-L-O-W! It will usually take 20 seconds to turn the handle once. Follow that by a sudden hop or two and that usually triggers some good strikes. Good Luck!!
  4. Free :-/ Hands down it's Alaskan Amber.... Blue moon is really good too... But I really cut down my beer intake after I got a minor beer belly at 22 :'(
  5. When fishing swimbaits I horse them in and try to get them to "Ski" across the top of the water ;D . With a 4+oz bait in their mouth all it takes is a little slack in the line and they can easily throw the bait. It's no fun loosing a swimbait fishing. With normal tackle I'll bring them in as fast as they let me. If they want to pull and pull, i'll let them for a bit. If they aren't putting up a good fight i'll get them in quick. With light tackle I "finesse" them in and let my rod wear them out a bit.
  6. It is his home's AC genius. Your so smart :-[ :-[
  7. I don't mess around when it comes to nets. I have a giant rubber net that I could land a 30 pound salmon with. I got real tired of my old net and the fish sinking into the nylon, rolling around a bunch of times and getting it's gills and fins wrapped up. With my new net the fish lye in comfort when I net them. They don't roll and bounce around anymore, now they are chill and relaxed, it's like a hammock ;D Whenever I'm fishing swim-baits I always have the net handy and call for it as soon as I hook up, cause chances are when your using swim-baits it'll be a decent fish. If I'm fishing normal gear, I usually take my time determining if it's a "Net-able" fish. It's got to look more than 3#'s for me to think about netting it. Cause lets face it, it's embarrassing when you net a 2.99# fish with a salmon net :
  8. Where were the fish biting the bait at? You can sometimes see teeth marks in the paint. While I don't fish swim baits that small very often, people relate it to a hollow body frog. You want to wait a split second longer than you normally do to set the hook. That way the fish will be able to bite down on the bait and expose the hook, thus giving you a better chance of hooking up. Also try putting some sort of scent on it.... like some pro-cure or mega-strike. This might make the fish hold on to the bait for that extra split second you need. I haven't given the the 6" weedless much time (Waiting for a 8" Weedless ;D) but it's got real potential and if you've already got 5 hits in 2 hours, your doing something right!!!! Swim baiting is that way, it can be GREAT when it's on, but it is frustrating when it's not. Don't give up on the bait yet, your off to a great start. BTW, is your paint coming off on yours. I've fished mine through some weeds for about 15 minutes and a lot of the paint is coming off. It's not a big deal as I find that my beat up Hudds always seem to do better than my new ones. Just curious? Good Luck
  9. "All you do is dress fancy and sing.... ALAHALAHALALALALALAHALAH!!! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!!!"
  10. They created those coffee injected plastics right??? Maybe the fish would like some nicotine to go with their caffeine :
  11. +1 for the H20. It has alot of features, but is VERY simple to mark waypoints. All you do is press the "enter" button twice. You can be more advanced and name each waypoing (Stumps, rockpile, etc) but by what you said in your original post, it's very easy to mark them. Good luck
  12. Haven't used those two kinds, but I own the suction cup mount and love it. I can easily move it from the window in my car/truck to my boat and mount it on the dash. As long as it's a smooth surface it will take a pretty hard jolt to make it come loose. Just something to think about
  13. The one in Rocklin, CA is the same ( I know a manager lurks on this site... so if you are reading this, please take note of my disappointment.) I went in Thursday night to pick up about $100 worth of various stuff I needed. I walked out with a bottle of water, some jerky, and a bag of tubes, none of which were on my list. I know the company is going through a rough time, but for those stores staying open why would they stock the bare minimum. For heavens sake there "Rapala" section was nearly empty and I've seen gas stations that had a better trout fishing section than SW did. I mean seriously, every yuppie bank beating bucket grabber thrives off of rapalas, kastmaster, and panther martins... I think i'm just going to wal mart from now on when I need something right now!!! ....Rant over!!
  14. After signing up for the sweep stake/tourney thing, I fully plan bringing it with me fishing tomorrow and will make a post on my experience. It should be good considering I will be fishing in a lake that HAS state record breaking fish in it :-X
  15. I have never seen them in the stores. I ordered mine from tackledirect.com. It ended up being $50 shipped. The warranty is what finally sold me over any of the other rods in this price range. There is no point in buying any of shimano's lower quallity rods without the warranty anymore.
  16. Thanks for the heads up on the tourney thing... I didn't see that. ;D
  17. Yep... been there done that. Nice try
  18. Burley... It's your calling http://www.kcra.com/money/19262774/detail.html
  19. WOW!!! There is some good information about BPS rods here. I'll add my .02 When I started bass fishing a few years back, I bought a 7' MH BPS Extreme Casting rod paired with a Citica 200D for $115. So it was a good deal to start off with. Being my first baitcast combo I didn't have anything to compare it to and it was love at first site. So I don't mind the power hump, it makes no difference to me. But it is very heavy compared to all my other rods (Higher end). I no longer use it for techniques that involve sensitivity (Jigs, senko's) and use it for small swimbaits, cranks, etc. I like this rod because it is very durable and versitile. I use it when hiking to ponds, or bank fishing in the dark. It's been through some battles but still stands proudly in my arsenal...
  20. there is a pretty "decent" review at tackle tour that has lots of reviews regarding soft sided baits. Most baits reviewed are great starter baits (Cheap and on the smaller side of swim-baits) that can be your "gateway" bait for getting into the swimbait scene. It is worth checking out if your on the verge of getting into it. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewsoftbodyswimbaits.html
  21. http://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-voltaeus-freshwater-spinning-rods.html I don't know how many of you have seen these. But I ordered a 2piece 6'6" M for some backpacking trips I have planned and will use it as my trout rod. I got it yesterday and was able handle it a bit. While I won't be able to fish it until tomorrow, it feels great. They are very light, full cork grip, good tip action, solid build, great price, and what really sold me is the lifetime warranty they offer just like their higher end models. I plan on buying another 5'6" 2 piece UL for streams in the very near future. I'm very rough on my trout rods because I normally go for trout in the rugged mountains. Either backpacking in, or 4X4ing. Needless to say I usually get 1 good season out of my trout rods before they break. Since most of them are cheaper rods, they don't carry a warranty and I'm back to the tackle shop to buy a new one every spring. So have any of you used on of these rods? Any comments on it. Seems like this line is in direct competition with the Ugly Stick. They are a bit cheaper and carry a lifetime warranty instead of a 7 year on the ugly stick TackleTour's Review - http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanovoltaeus.html
  22. Hopefully its got a different destination though. So I guess you wouldn't know if the kid was yours or not :
  23. They will definately add a few years to your rods life. Especially when transporting them in cars and such. I personally think they are a great investment and I use them at home and transporting them to the lake, but once I get on the lake I don't like dealing with them so I usually take them off.
  24. This is what I call a BIG FISH BAIT http://www.natesbaits.com/Wakebait.php
