Ipods? Yes or no?
When the fishing sucks and there is NO way to save the day, i'll listen to the tunes. Makes a horrible day more enjoyable.

SwimBaiters,I need your input!
PLEASE DON'T SKIMP ON THE HOOKS!!! I hate when companies put on crappy hooks. I would gladly pay an extra dollar or two for good hooks. Stick with 2X owners. Either 1/0 or 2/0

Need Info W/ Drop Shot
I would go with a spinning setup as this is more of a "Finesse" Tactic. Usually small line, small hook, small bait, and small weight is involved therfore a spinning setup can handle this better.

Need Info W/ Drop Shot
Use the search bar on the top part of this page. We have had numerous threads regarding drops shots in the past month. A few members have taken lots of time to right "Short Novels" about drop shotting. Just my .02 cents

Damiki rods, confused?
Look at their 8ft Swimbait rod. I just don't see how a rod can throw a 2oz bait as well as a 10oz bait. I'm calling BS until I hear otherwise

Drunk + Classified Ads = $$$$
So Saturday night I had some friends over and got pretty wasted. Not to the point of hugging the porcelain, but enough to not remember much. Sunday morning I wake up feeling pretty good, go to work, and start my normal routine of checking email and a few fishing forums I'm on. I noticed I had a message from somebody on this site about pay pal address's and shipping, etc for a huddleston. I shrugged it off thinking they sent it to the wrong person or something to that degree. After about an hour, I happened to stumble on the Flea Market and noticed a good swimbait deal. While getting ready to make a post for it, I noticed my name already posted . Sure enough, I had stumbled onto BR the previous night and bought some stuff. That got me thinking about other sites I'm on. Sure enough, I went on to another forum and bought a lot of swimbaits. All in all I spent $120 on a couple swimbait lots which had a total of 13 baits. At least I can spot good deals when I'm drunk. I told one of the guys what happened so he was nice enough to hold the lot till I get the money to pay for it. Moral of the story... stay off of the computer when your drunk :-[

where do you work?
I work at the corporate office for a medium size supermarket chain in California and Nevada. I support our companies time and attendance system for 15,000 employees and 150 stores. I am the first line of defense to ensure the employees get paid correctly. It's a really cool job. It's a set schedule, 40 hours a week, great benefits. It's a desk job where I work on the computer all day, but at 22 years old, I'm fortunate to be able to use my degree to my advantage and have a secure job. ;D

Swimbait Braid Users
I very rarely use braid for swimbaits. When I do, it's usually smaller baits that I just happen to throw on my normal rods. Usually they are small baits like the 6" hudd, mattlures, etc. With these setups I always use a leader. Normally 15-20# mono. It has very little to do with the "No Stretch" deal, but everything to do with abrasion resistance. I fish swimbaits in rocks, around trees, etc and braid just won't hold up to these conditions, therfore a 4-6 foot leader of mono gives me that piece of mind that allows me to fish in the tuff stuff. Ever get a major backlash with braid while throwing a 2oz + bait? your bait goodbye. Having that little bit of give with a leader helps in this situation as well.

Mattlures softplastic bluegills?
I have had a couple of his gills. Definitely use his tips that he put on his website and put a little bit of super glue where the hook meets plastic, as well as the eye where you tie line. This will add a lot of extra life to your bait as this is a week spot for the plastic

Most money lost during a single trip....
It was all brand new line. I was using 20# P-Line CXX and 30# CXX. I don't know what he was using. We were using a bait knocker. Up until this trip, the knocker recovered 100% of the lures I used it on. This time it failed us twice. That is why jay had to swim for a lure. All in all, I think the fishing gods just hated us. Oh well, you gotta pay to play right :

Most money lost during a single trip....
I'm just curious as to what is the most money (In baits) you guys have lost in a single trip? And also, about how much you guys loose during an average trip? Me and 4bizz just got back from a trip where the fishing gods hated us. What should have been a great trip (5 bites and 1 dumped 5-7#er within the first 30 minutes), ended with almost $300 worth of lost baits and one good fish. It was absolutely horrible, we were loosing baits left and right. We lost them anywhere from breaking them off on the cast, to breaking them off on a fish, to breaking the off on a hook set, to breaking them off on timber. At one point, 4bizz even jumped in the lake (56 degrees) and dove down 9 feet to rip a stump out the the ground that had taken his bait (2 hours later he ended up loosing the same bait ;D) It was one of those trips where we shoulda stopped at noon and said "Lets cut our losses and go home and drink beer". I think we lost around 5 swimbaits and at least a dozen jigs. >. It's time to go stockpile my swimbait collection again. :'(

Akita swimbait?
Yes Glenn, I actually owned an Akita Swimbait. During my "Nooby" swimbait days, I used to browse eBay for cheap swimbaits.... obviously Akita's SWARM eBay constantly so I bit and bought one (http://cgi.ebay.com/-Akita-8-IN.-HAND-PAINTED-JOINTED--WOOD-SWIMBAIT--LURE_W0QQitemZ220361072547QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090213?IMSfp=TL090213123004r30521#ebayphotohosting) It was very similar to this one After 2 trips (Maybe a total of 3 hours thrown) the back fin had broke in half, the top dorsal fin was MIA, and the paint had 2 dime size chips taken out of it. NO.... I did throw it in rocks, timber, etc as this was an "Expensive" lure to me at the time and I took good care of it. I was very disappointed, especially with the action. It was such a tight wobble, it almost looked like the joints were stuck , also add to it the fact that it didn't swim totally upright. I've seen lures that were swam worse, but it just added to the "Suckiness" factor of this bait. So no, I'm not just passing along rumors among the swimbait crowd, or making judgments based on price.... There are lots of great swimbaits in the $10-$20 that I would recommend in a heartbeat. This just happens to be a crap bait that I feel other members should be aware of. I think Akita swimbaits are one of those topics that come up every month, most of us get tired of explaining why we don't like them.... now we just say they suck..... no explanation necessary!!!

Bass thumb pics (Thumb and palm if you're from California, lol)
I wish I snapped a picture of it, but last year I had one cut the web inbetween my thumb and index finger. At first I thought it was the fish bleading, so I rushed to get her weighed and a picture. Once I released her, I noticed more blood and looked down and realized my hand was dripping blood. It hurt for awhile, but the joy of catching a solo 35-1 pound sack outweighed that pain ten fold!! I also had the torn up palm and thumb that felt like heavy grit sandpaper last year.... we call it "Hudd Palm" 8-)

Tru-Tungsten & Spro BBZ-1 4" Swimbaits Question
Sounds like you are already using the right stuff. I wouldn't really call these swimbaits.... Just think of them as jointed lipless crankbaits. No need to buy anything fancy to throw these. :-/

Brush Hogs??????????????
I made fun of my dad for using a baby brush hog as a jig trailer once. He had the last laugh after he stuck his new PB a few minutes later. I don't know if I would use a regular brush hug as a trailer, but definately a baby brush hog.
