  1. Move to California... our great state put a ban on it ;D. Although we can talk on the cell phone as long as it's not up to our ear. Speakerphone and bluetooth are legal. ~START OF RANT~ I think a ban on talking on the cell phone was pointless in our state. Think about all of the other things people do that are "Reckless" while they are driving. Basser69 mentioned a handful of them. The state put "Cell phone usage" in the category of Reckless Driving along with numerous other activities in hopes of cutting down reckless driving. It seems to me that they would need to "Ban" numerous other things to cut down on this. Changing the radio station, changing the fan, shaving, applying make-up, reading a book, looking at a map, messing with your gps, reaching in the back seat, grabbing a cd, the list could go on forever. What about truck drivers that have to talk on CB's??? I figure with talking on the phone, at least your eyes are on the road (while your brain might not be), and correct me if i'm wrong but it seems to me that most people talking on cell phones tend to go slower than traffic, even if they are in the fast lane :-/. I can agree with California's newest ban against texting or any mobile communication over the talking on cell phones though. But I guess it's just like everything else, there are always a few people that ruin things for everybody. I know I drive the same no matter how I talk on my cell phone. This issue just irritates me . Thanks to whoever brought up this stupid topic anyway j/k. ~END OF RANT~ But I will agree with you BB, people going slow in the fast lane annoys me too!!! You would think they would get the point when everybody passes them on the right.
  2. This may be selfish, but I would rather you keep your baits in the small companies. Once you go to a giant corporation like that everybody will be throwing your baits nation wide.... Matt, you understand how us Cali boys are with our swimbaits.... :-X .
  3. What is everybody using for a durable epoxy to apply to jig heads after the powder paint. Just looking to see if it's worth applying a coat for more durability or if the powder paint is durable enough. Thanks guys.
  4. http://www.redding.com/photos/galleries/2008/oct/05/relics-exposed-lake-shasta/7477/ Here is a launch ramp that is still in the water ;D . This is from Antlers Resort & Marina near Lakeshore Drive in Lakehead. Do a search for "Lake Shasta Low Water Pics" You'll find some pretty cool pics from Shasta right now. Regarding runoff, we would need some really good rain and a really good snow pack to raise Shasta to an "Operatable" Level. And by the looks of things right now, it will probably be a pretty bad summer for California Lakes. . Personally I think this will be yet another drought summer for us. Good luck in shasta.
  5. I still don't understand why he wont come out with one. He comes out with a weedless hudd, a 6in hudd and phantom hudds, but no 10-12in. WTH!!! I know the big bait guys would LOVE a bigger huddleston and would certainly buy them if he produced them. I know I would. I was able to get the Magnum at a really good price so I picked up two ;D. They look really good but havent been able to fish them. Can't wait to get them wet
  6. You guys are missing the best "Survivor" show.... The Grizzly Diaries!!! : :-X
  7. 20#-25# mono. I use P-Line CXX. Big Game works well also
  8. At least you went out in style.... Crown Royale is some good stuff!!! I assume you'll post a link to the YouTube video right???
  9. I guess if the Deep X-Rap is as productive as the original, then it should be a killer bait. I know I got on a couple good bites with the X-Rap. I was able to catch a few over 5 on it. I'm definately interested in your review
  10. When pond fishing I always have a 5" senko and a DT6 rigged up. I have upmost confidence with these baits in ponds.
  11. LOL!!! For some reason that was the first thing I noticed, even before KVD. I'm not doggin you XcoM274, i'm 6'6" so I feel your pain. It's always pretty cool to meet fishing celebs. Last year at the local sports expo, I was able to meet Gary Dobyns, Skeet Reese, Greg Guiterez (SP), Dee Thomas, and Bub Tosh. It was pretty cool because I was able to ask them questions and interact with them. Bub Tosh is a pretty good swimbait stick so I picked his brain for awhile. It's amazing how down to earth these guys are.
  12. Some people call them baitknockers, some call them lure retreivers. They are basically used when you get a swimbait stuck in some sort of cover. They have a heavy weight and chains attached to the weight. It will either Knock the bait off of the snag, or the chains are supposed to grab the hook so you can pull it free. There are many brands of them, but here is the one I have. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_52869____SearchResults It has saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars already. Just be sure if you get this one that you retie both knots. The one that is on the bait knocker, and the one that is on the line retriever both have horrible knots from the factory.
  13. Here is my take on this. If i'm fishing a spot that seems to be producing lots of decent size fish, lets say 3-6 pounders. I firmly beleive that there are bigger fish stacked on this spot as well. So instead of pounding this spot for hours and possibly ruining any chance I have of catching these larger fish, I'll fish another spot for an hour or so and let the original spot take a break. I might go to another spot that has the same characteristics in hopes of more big fish. I wont necessarily leave to find bigger fish, but I leave to let the original spot die down, even if it is producing fish. I guess this is the downside to fishing for quality, not quantity. Me and 4bizz got on a bite like this one day. We fished every spot on a lake that had certain characteristics. We would fish it hard for an hour, catch 3-6 quality fish. Then go to another spot with the same characteristics and catch more. We fished each spot 4 times that day and everytime the spots kicked out fish. 90% of those spots kicked out fish over 5#.
  14. Played it two years ago on the PS2. Good game graphics for the PS2. Probably only second to God of War 2. Resident Evil 4 was so 2006.... it was a sick game though. I was sure glad they brought it to the Playstation system. I've only played the first God of War and it has entered my top 5 game list. I would get the second one, but it's hard to go back to the PS2 once you have the Xbox 360.
  15. Most of the stuff I use for bed fishing i throw on a BC. But when the bite is tough and they don't seem interested in the big stuff, I'll either throw a drop shot or wacky rig on spinning gear. Both have their time and place.
  16. Look at the 3:16 soft baits. I believe all of his soft baits are under $20. Mattlures as well. These all are PROVEN swimbaits. With a $20 limit it's hard to stay away from the cr@ppy baits. But your doing the right thing by asking everybodys opinion first/ This will save you a ton of wasted time and money by buying horrible swimbaits. I would highly suggest raising the limit though. When swimbaiting, you don't want to put a spending limit on your potential. I'm sure after you get hooked you'll be willing to fork out $50 for a lure.... I know I did. And as far as loosing baits, you gotta pay to play. Buy yourself a $10 baitknocker and you will have a hard time loosing baits. I know in my 1 1/2 years swimbaiting, i've never lost a bait. Good luck man!!!
  17. Thats why you listen to metal, its so loud you cant hear the crowd while the bands playing ;D Speaking of Metal, found this article this morning. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/12/18/health/webmd/main4675285.shtml I love how the suggest to "You can reduce your chance of injury by using protective equipment like neck braces". LMFAO!!!!! Could you image if you wore a neck brace to a metal concert. You would get beat up in a heart beat!!! Jay, Can you say "Lamb of God Concert??" =
  18. I own the same combo and have 25# pline CXX on it. I just switched over from Big Game and love it so far. I would suggest the KVD Line and Lure Conditioner to apply to the CXX as it has a good amount of memory. I'm not sure what other swimbaits you will be using besides Hudds, but that is the PERFECT huddleston setup IMHO. I know certain other people will agree as well. Best of luck with the new combo, I know I LOVE mine!!!
  19. Best money i've ever spent. I did spend the extra $3 to get the nifty little line wind-up feature for people with midget fingers
  20. That's good because the fishing SUCKS here in March anyway..... :
  21. That's pretty harsh to look at. I thought we had low water levels last year... :-/ The bad thing is that ALL of our lakes look like that. I think I only have 2 lakes I fish that are less than 50 vettical feet down. As 4bizz put it once - "Our lakes look like the neighbors dog peed in the sandbox ;D"
  22. Breaking strenghts of fishing line. Not sure of the correct equipment you would need but maybe get a few different brands of mono, in the same pound test and see what the actual break strenghts are. Always thought it would be interesting to do this. Just a thought. Good luck on the Senior Project!!!
