  1. Which Yo-Zuri? The Harcore Drum is my favorite. Along with the Jackall T/N70 and the Spro Aruku Shad, it can be worked VERY slowly and still have an excellent action. It sinks nose first and when it reaches the bottom it stands on its nose with its tail sticking up at 45 degrees. It doesn't plain to either side when it sinks and it flutters even on a slow rise, making it excellent for jigging. In fact, my best fish on this lure it when I've jigged it over structure. IMO, one of the best lipless on the market. The Rattln' Vibe is very good as well. It has a decent action when worked slowly, or you can burn it. It flops over on its side when it reaches the bottom, though. The Live Bait Shallow Vibe is an excellent lipless. It has no rattles at all. It's rather heavy for its size. Has a good action even at slow speeds. It doesn't sit upright on the bottom, though. It is good for those times you need a subtle bait.
  2. My experience is that the STX and the SX perform equally on the water. So go with the one that you think looks the best.
  3. I'd take the All Star. I've fished one of the older Titaniums and I understand they are substantially the same as the Platinum. It was an incredibly sensitive rod. Top-notch components and great craftsmanship. Given how my All Stars have held up, the five year warranty is more than enough.
  4. Don't forget your vitamin C.
  5. That snake is bad news, too. It's a Central Asian Cobra. Apparently, they aren't particularly aggressive, but their venom is highly toxic.
  6. This would make for an unpleasant suprise...
  7. I've tried rigging them with the hook way back like that. The front end gets pushed down, bends, and throws the whole action off. For me, rigging them that way never resulted in a fish and ruined several baits.

I'm an amateur WWII aviation historian. I love the subject. I have a pretty big library of aviation related books, some signed. Books signed by Joe Foss (highest scoring USMC ace) and Tex Hill (Flying Tigers) highlight my collection. Sounds like you're going to have a good time. I'd love to chat it up with a P-61 pilot.
  9. Nice bird, man. That's some good hunting - spring gobbler.
  10. X2. But I've always liked St. Pauli Girl. The beer isn't bad, either.
  11. When they said Avian Flu was a pandemic threat, I said "when pigs fly." Little did I know those pigs are coming home to roost.
  12. The Space Moneky has been my most productive lure this year. I've been fishing it on an Owner Twist Lock 4/0 with a 1/8 oz weight on the shank. The rig will keep the lure upright, and underwater on all but the fastest retrieves. Hookups are effortless. 9 times out of 10, when a fish gets on, there is just pressure and it's there. I swim these slowly along weedlines, etc.
  13. No. You must have inadvertently loosened the screw and twisted the sideplate. You'll need to contact Abu Garcia for a replacement.
  14. That's a big-a** fallfish. I've caught them here in Virginia in the James River. Thay are quite good fighting fish on light tackle. They will readily take little Rapala Originals.
  15. I like them as a simple swimbait. I like rigging them on a 3/0 EWG hook. I fish them weightless. Or I will rig them with a pegged bullet weight. Lately I've tried them on a 3/0 Owner weighted Twist Lock hook. They seem to perform best on these.
  16. Here's a scary "dead" snake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZyrKaxnzcU
  17. It is never going to come out. Superglue on fabric is permanent. Resign yourself to wearing the shirt for yard-work, or using it as a rag.

Ditto with Sam. Thyroid cancer is highly curable. In fact, I think it's the most curable type of cancer there is, next to some minor types of skin cancer. I think cure rate is just a tad under 100%. There are some ladies at my job who have had their thyroids removed many years ago and they are all fine. I do think they have to take some kind of medication to regulate their metabolisms. That's not so bad, though. About a month after that baby comes, and you've only had an hour of sleep in that month, you're going be ready for that woman of yours to be taking another kind of pill for the rest of her life, if you get my drift ;D. And here's something a little bizzare. And I can't back this up with proof, but I swear, and the women I know swear, that after they had their thyroids removed, their skin improved. I know two ladies well, both of whom have incredibly smooth and blemish free skin. (No, I haven't seen them nekkid). But they both swear that their skin got better looking after they had their thyroids taken out, and they swear other women they know say the same thing. They say they were told that once their bodies started getting the correct level of hormones their thryroids weren't producing, their skin became dramatically better.
  19. Don't bother with new Brownings. The old Browning spinning reels (made in Korea) were very good, indeed. They were so similar to Pfluegers that it was clear there was some kind of relationship. I had a couple of Citoris that were great but I ended up given them to some co-worker's kids. They are now using them and they are still ticking. The new (made in China) reels are unworthy of the Browning name. I used one a few years ago on a smallmouth trip and it simply failed on me. After a few hours use it got all but impossible to crank. When I got home I found that a very thin copper washer on the shaft got sucked, somehow, into the anti-reverse bearing. I broke the reel down completely and found slivers of copper in the bearing, and some wrapped around the shaft. In short, it was a mess. I didn't even try to fix it. Right into the trash. Right now, all I use is Abu Garcia and Daiwa. The Abu Garcia Cardinal 700 series is bullet-proof. It's all metal - frame, sidecover, rotor, bail arms, etc. It is a big roller and line twist is minimal. It's smooth, but not super smooth like a Shimano Sustain. But the upside is that you do feel very connected to your lure with this reel. On a sensistive rod, it makes the whole package come alive. I recommend this reel highly.
  20. Pretty soon, you'll be ready to move up to Abu, then Daiwa. Only kidding, the Curado is a very nice reel.
  21. Come on, RW, lighten up. I've seen worse reviews about other brands and you were nowhere around to do anything about those. AFAIK, this is a forum about reels - good or bad. I didn't know Shimano was paying Glenn to keep negative opinions off the boards.
  22. Leave it to Burley to fart during communion.
  23. I find that 10# is perfect for big crankbaits. I use 12# for heavier duties.
  24. Those aren't American Eels. They are Sea Lampreys. They are native to our waters so they don't cause the problems like they have in the Great Lakes. Those lampreys will migrate to the very endest of creeks to spawn - hundreds of miles from the sea.
  25. I fish heavily stained water I like green pumpkin with black flakes. That's by far the most productive color I've tried in heavily stained waters. For a soft plastic lure, I would want something with some good action. I would try a bigger twist tail worm, or a Rage Tail bait, like the Space Monkey. The Space Monkey has a been a big producer for me this year.
