  1. Im really focusing on all types of jig fishing this year. Instead of focusing on if it acts like an actual crayfish, bluegill, shiner, I outlined what I'm thinking below. Its probably pretty basic, but it definitely helps my confidence in presentation and making decisions on the water.. I don't feel compelled to have every color of every trailer, yet the bag of plastics keeps growing haha. 1. Profile/Size 2. Drag - fast/slow fall or high/low water column 3. Vibration/Action So for craw/flapper baits I have paca chunk/craw(small profile lots of flap), Bug baits (large profile, action depends/more vibration). For slimmer profile, curly tail grub (action) or paddle tail (thump).
  2. Thanks for the suggestion and my eyes are bleeding haha
  3. Hello! Life took me away from bass fishing for the last 12 years, but I never could bring myself to part with my gear. This year, I'm back! I could really use some input on getting my rods and reels matched up, along with what line and lb tests to go with. If you think I should swap some combos up or just flat out different set ups for kayak fishing, let me know! For some constraints... -I'd love to get out on the water this week AND it looks like my local BPS is having a sale, so something I could get there. I know Sufix 832 and INvisX are on sale right now, so I'm leaning towards those 2. -Kayak fishing, looking to stand up when calm -I live in Central Tx. -Straight braid, flouro, braid with leader, I'm down to try it. Ok here is what I have going on and what I'm thinking I'd throw with them. 4. All it needs is a little butter, garlic, and a frying pan. Slice of lemon on the side and it doesn't get much better.
  5. Those are awesome! Looks like I'll be fishing, trading, and selling a lot of jigs to friends to make room.

  7. Has anyone tied up some of the Living Image skirts from fishingskirts.com? Thoughts?
  8. Joe anne fabrics carries 30yrd coils of 28ga.(?) solid copper wire, comes in different colors too. They go on sale from time to time for a few $$ a piece. 3 or 4 wraps and you're all set.
  9. I'm curious about the action that lil cutie is going to have and get.
  10. Wow, I'm surprised that no one has said anything about using a Palomar knot. The Palomar is generally regarded as one of the strongest and easiest knots to tie, you guys should really give it a try. I did some striper/surf fishing this weekend (gorgeous in RI) and asked someone at the local salt water tackle shop what knot he used when you're using a double mono leader. He said the Berkley one was THE BEST, so I thought I'd ask the experts. Has anyone tried the Palomar? Anyone know any good knots for this application?
  11. To answer your question, yes. You could probably save some $$$ and get a one piece mold as "trick" worms generally have a flat side. Linky Check out tackleunderground as people are selling and swapping that kind of stuff over there too.
  12. ^ excellent
  13. Thanks for contributing.
  14. Thank you, and spelling counts!
  15. bummer about the first one being the suck, link replaced. Do you have/know of any threads about doing the joints? I saw one around here using cotter pins, but I can't find it atm.
  16. Over the past couple months I've seen a lot of people making their own swimbaits and this has generated some great discussion. I compiled a lot of that into one thread for people starting new projects (like me) to be able to research. I apologize if a thread you started that is related to building a swimbait wasn't included, I probably just missed it in my search. Feel free to post a link and I will add it, along with any other useful stuff too. 17. Whichever one looks pretty at the moment.
  18. Thank you for all the replies everyone. I've learned a lot more from this thread than just where to look for some insurance.
  19. vertically, nose up?
  20. My car was hit in a traffic circle not too long ago. Minor damages, no injuries and I was found to be 85% responsible. I am going to stress here that someone changed lanes into me in a 2 lane circle, but that is a different story. I was towing my boat at the time and do not have any boat insurance. Since it is an '81 I haven't been able to find anyone that I can carry more than just liability with. I was thinking, with my terrible luck with fender benders, traffic cops, and traffic law in general...If I'm towing my boat and something happens and the other driver's insurance company denies my claim I need to have some insurance of my own here. If anyone knows any companies that offer insurance to older boats please let me know. Thanks Cory edit: mods- I meant this for the bass boating forum, sorry.
  21. Ok, I'll level. They look a little thin, how many tabs are you using? Also, the strands look to be clumped up some/uneven. I'm sure the fish could care less. The colors look good and so does the paint, a very solid turn out for your first jigs. Hope you catch some good ones. Cory
