Mods suggestions
I'm not expert, but I have heard that the chemicals/heavy metals in pressure treated wood does not react well with aluminum. Have a breeze through this stick.http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1213554116 Must haves would be a well plumbed, large livewell. A well wired and well detailed switch board (my boat came with rusty alligator clips, everything was connected this way!). A rod locker. Under deck storage. Bilge pump, lights, etc. are standard. Don't deck it so high that you will fall overboard. No need to put a floor where you can't stand on it. These old boats are great, your imagination is the limit!

have any of you used these?
Definitely not if you want that thing to float. I can't tell how thick the body is, but if a 5/0 offset (not EWG) hook works I'd use that.

Tru-Tungsten vs. Spro
Thanks fourbizz, I'll keep those in mind. The baby wake looks well worth the few extra $$. Matt, I'm excited to see what you have in the works, and I'm sure quite a few other people are too. I'm sure you're going as fast as you can with the bait still being of mattlures quality at the end. At least Castaic is making an effort to improve their lure making process and overall product line. Hopefully they can be a contender in their part of the market. The consumer can always appreciate some competition.

2 guys in a 10 foot john boat
It will work for sure. My experience has been it's real hard for both people to stand up. Maybe my jon was of different dimensions?

Tru-Tungsten vs. Spro
Matt, Aren't you coming out with a baby bass of your own? Fourbizz, Are there any hard swimbaits that you would buy that are 50$ or less? Some of us might be wanting to test the waters before diving in. thanks

One bait, one month!
What!?!?! no Gene Larew 7" worm in Camo? No oldham trailer hitch jig with a 5" craw? Something is wrong! Glad to see new things are working, definitely gonna get me some.

essential skirt colors
dark green \ light green ----- 2 styles of each of these (i.e barbed wire w/ blue, brown / dalmation etc.) black \ these 2 are as standard as it gets. blue barbed wire / You'll be able to make more than you can reasonably lose very soon.

Is this a good jig setup?
My short answer is no. Long answer is H E double-hockey-sticks no. Jig fishing for bass is usually done on a 6'6 -7'6 M --- H rod with a fast action. 12lb test is the lightest I would fish the smallest jigs and throw all of mine on 15lb flouro or 30+lb braid. A 5:2:1 gear ratio will really crank a fish out of cover, but a high speed reel has been the more popular choice lately. The nature of jig fishing requires a hard hook set and is usually done in or near heavy cover. Your rod and line will not give you the best chance of hooking up and landing a fish.

Towing - HP vs. torque
Does the 4 cylinder come in 4x4? Do you need 4x4 drive?

how to get lower unit off of mercury 25 hp?
Your shift linkage is still attached. There is either a bolt or pin holding it in place. You have to find that little sucker before it's going anywhere. Maybe this http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=137004&highlight=remove+lower+unit+25hp will help?

Checking out this boat tomorrow, advice?
I think it's overpriced too. If the price is greatly negotiable, really try to go for a test ride before you buy. That way you can make sure the motor not only starts, but runs well, see how leaky the boat is, test stability, ease of loading/launching. etc. Older engines can be temperamental.

Some Swimbaits
Wow those are great. The fact that they swim is even better. How's the action on that giron? Have had my eye on them for a little while, as my woodworking shop doesn't exist.

How often are you "SKUNKED"?
I just missed getting skunked the last time I went. phew!

Braided lines and terminal tackle
I would say no, tie directly to the lure with a Palomar/ double wrapped uni know. Your line is thin and in a low-vis color. If you're having a problem with abrasion, a leader might help. I assume this is on spinning gear? Maybe try stepping up to 20lb test if you are breaking off on the hookset at 14.

xcalibur xr50 lipless crank
Lose the tail hook and bump up the front hook to a short shank size 2.

Straight up Swimbaits
Have you looked at the Sebile Magic Swimmer? The 5" model weighs 3/4oz, which your M rod should be able to handle. I like mine. Just a thought.

Taking Bets: Who's gonna be the first to buy this?
I would never buy that horrible looking piece of crap!

10" Ribbon tail
I just picked up a pack of the Yum Big Show worms, I'm pretty pumped about them. Anyone else tried them yet? For the money, Zoom MAG II 9.5" curly tail worm, 20 pack for 3 something I believe. The ole monsters are a 10" worm, little thicker, but come 10 to a pack and cost more.

Storm Sunfish Swimbait
I haven't used them, but the general consensus is you get what you pay for.

Taking Bets: Who's gonna be the first to buy this?
T-rig and Raul both already have them. But Raul wins because he has 4 and T-rig only has 3.
