  1. All I can say is wow, that is a lot of money for gas for your boat. Ii now costs me about $30 a month rather than the $15 a month for my boat then I spent last year. I am sure glad I went with a small boat and motor. It may take me a while to get where I am going but I am not spending all of my money on gas either.
  2. I have a sports room/bar in my house that has all kinds of signed memoriablia on display. I also just got my first signed bass angler picture to display which is really cool.
  3. I have pulled about 8 to 10 ticks off of me this year, 4 of them did bite me. I did not get the rash so I have not seena doctor about them. The first warning sign is supposed to be a rash and or a fevor. Lyme disease is nothing to mess with, if you think you could have it due to a tick bite go get checked a.s.a.p. I stopped shore fishing for now because of all of the ticks this year. Now I only go out fishing in my boat.
  4. Preseason tickets are not worth the money, you do not get to see the starters play much at all and the teams really don't care if they win or loose. Save you money and go to a regular season game.
  5. Here is the tide information for tonight. It looks like you will be fishing the falling tide. If I were you I would work on the outside of the grass mats and throw spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, Manns -1 and some Rapala top water baits. If you are up for the challenge put the boat in the mats and work some plastics (swim senkos work well) and jigs with pork trailers, throw them right into the middle of the mats and work them slowly. This is a lot more work but it may pay off with a nice size hawg. Chatterbaits have been a really good producer the last couple of weeks. I caught four nice keepers using them last Saturday. Good luck, Ron Day High Tide Height Sunrise Moon Time % Moon /Low Time Feet Sunset Visible W 11 High 1:56 AM 1.8 5:44 AM Set 1:30 AM 53 11 Low 8:26 AM 0.2 8:33 PM Rise 2:14 PM 11 High 2:18 PM 1.6 11 Low 8:39 PM 0.2
  6. Fillip, One thing you neglected to mention is that the Potomac is a tidal river with a change of about 3 feet between high and low tide. I fish this river and the Occoquan River a lot during the year and can always find the bass. On the high tide you are going to want to run spinnerbaits, rapalas, manns -1 and topwater lures above the grass. During low tide you are going to want to work the grass with plastics and jigs by pitching right into the grass. You can also work the grass lines with some crank, spinner and chatter baits. I know it can get frustrating because of the grass but you can pull some big fish out by pitching right into the thick of it. I have also noticed that the bite on the Potomac is really good lately using chatterbaits. I hope this helps.
  7. Jay, Send me an email letting me know how you made out. I am also looking forward to reading your blog for the trip.
  8. I agree, he should have made sure he had a clear title for the boat before doing any work to it. If it turns out to be stolen not only will he will loose the boat but he can be charged with possesion of stolen property.
  9. Most of these ponds sit on government contractor sites and therefore do not allow fishing. A few of them do allow fishing and they have some nice lmbs in them as I have already caught some nice size lmbs (2-4 pounds). One of the ponds also sits at the Ford Motors training facility and they have a gaurd watching the pond and he will run you off if you get any where near it.
  10. There is no access because the land that VDGIF was leasing got sold. None of the remaining property owners want to lease land to VDGIF so it will remain a private lake now.

These are not a top water bait. I posted a picture on the first page of this thread.
  12. Guys, do a search this has been discussed many times on here. The general opinion has not been very positive from all of the threads I have read.
  13. Our prayers are with you and your family, good luck with the surgery.
  14. Congrats on the new addition to the family.
  15. Pound for pound you have to go with smallies.
  16. I am not sure what model it was, I don't know that much about them. I just sat there laughing at them because he really beat on that vehicle. I had my camera but didn't even think to take pictures. Next time something like this happens I will get some pictures. I usually see stuff like this about once a month. We have a lot of inexperienced boaters launching at one of our tidal rivers.
  17. I would just replace the tire if you haul the boat on any long trips.
  18. I went out fishing Saturday morning and came back to the ramp around 1:00 PM. What I saw when I arrived at the ramp looked like I was watching an old Abbott and Costello show. I guy was using his BMW SUV to launch an extremely large boat. Needless to say the back end of the SUV was sagging so bad it almost looked like the tires were rubbing against the top of the wheel wells. When he backed down the ramp he bottomed out the trailer and he got it stuck. They took about 30 minutes trying to figure a way to get the SUV and the trailer moving again. In the mean time the ramps were backed up with people waiting to launch their boats as well as fisherman trying to get out of the water. They finally rocked back and fourth putting a major strain (smoking the tires) on the BMW before they got the trailer moving and the boat in the water. Once they got the boat in the water they kept the BMW blocking the ramp for an addtional 15 minutes. I could only imagine how they were going to get the boat out since this is a tidal river and the tide was going out.

I went out Saturday with the chatterfrog and put it to the test myself. I caught 4 nice keepers in about a 2 hour period throwing the chatterfrog up against the pads. The lmbs slammed this lure hard and the fights were a lot of fun. The only problem I had was when a long-nosed gar attacked it and cut the line with his teeth. On my way home I stopped by the local tackle store and picked up a couple more of these lures.
