  1. I'd like to meet you guys also. I live in Williamsport, PA, which isn't to far away from Hamburg (couple hrs.) Let me know when you are going to try and do it. Is it a guy only thing or can we bring the wife? (she likes to shop anywhere ) Plus I already know I'm getting a gift certificate to Cabelas 8-) Doug
  2. Thanks for the help guys, but the "easy fixes" didn't do anything. I think it might be in or it has something to do with the foot control. It is variable speed, but if you put it on 5 it hardly even turns? Turns faster on 1? On 10, it doesn't turn much faster than 1? Called the boat place and they are shut down from Thanksgiving til Dec. 4th, so it's going down next week. We have a big cold front coming in now so it won't be too bad not having my boat. Hopefully they won't have it to long, because most people around here have already winterized there boats. Doug
  3. Just bought a pair of the ice armor brand gloves. Have not tried them yet, will try and let you know how they work, has not really been that cold here in PA...yet. Doug
  4. If you wear perscription glasses, especially bifogals, where you need them to tie your line, the cocoons work great! Doug
  5. Avid, I like your last few lines.... think I'm going to copy them 8-) Doug
  6. This is also the first time in more that 20 yrs that I am not voting. I know it's always said, but all they do is make promises that they cannot come thru with, even though they may have good intentions. Plus the ads on TV are just getting to be to much. All they do is put each other down, they are worse than little kids fighting! I would be upset if my kids were talking about someone like they do!! I know it's not the"American way" not to vote, but it doesn't seem to matter anymore.
  7. I'm sure I've also heard KVD talk about using it in some of the tourneys. I've seen them in BPS catalog and they are EXPENSIVE! More than I can afford. Can't really say I'm against it though. Doug
  8. Thanks for all the replys guys and gals. Interesting to see what everybody does, keep them coming. Doug
  9. Good for you 8-) congrats!! Wish my wife would!
  10. Seen on another site they asked what the occupation of its members were and I always was wondering the same here. Tried to do a search and couldn't find anything, so what does everybody do for a living?? I work at a company called Lonza, a chemical plant. We make alot of food grade additives (the kind you can't say in the ingredients), cleaners, chlorine based products, metal and plastic additives, just to name a few. Fishing is my next occupation according to my wife! Doug Doug
  11. I'll pull the prop and check it to make sure nothing is there. I'm not sure what kind of prop is on it now, but I'll try to find out. What does a power prop look like? Does BPS sell them? I don't know what size wires they are coming from the battery, but the wires run from the back of the boat to the front, approx. 16-17'. Will have somebody that knows wires at work take a look and tell me the gauge. Thanks for the help, Doug
  12. I have a minn kota powerdrive 50# 12v variable speed TM and it just seems like it does not have the power that a 50# thrust motor should have. I've checked the connections and my battery is fully charged. I've always thought this about my trollong motor, but kinda just lived with it, but now other people in the boat have made some comments that it should move my boat better (16' alum., not over loaded or a bunch of stuff in it). Anybody have any ideas? Thuoght I'd ask here first before I take it to the boat place for them to check out. Thanks Doug
  13. Reelmech, why don't you do cleaning on certian types of reels like the pflueger president spinning reels? I don't mean repair work, but cleaning and lube? Thanks Doug
  14. Way2slow will tell you exactly what you should do, he has helped me alot! Doug
  15. Does anyone know where I can find a piano hinge that is rust proof? I need it about 4' long. I'm going to put a raised deck in the back of my boat and want to make a access door in the back. I've bought all my aluminum stock for the supports and bought one piano hinge already, but just sitting outside for a week, not even installed yet, its rusting already! Thanks for the help, Doug
  16. Thank you very much, that's exactly what I needed to know. P.S. It's just a regular radio, and I just play it loud enough to hear. Doug
  17. Ok, so your saying to only hook the TM to the deecycle batteries-got it. What about everything else? Is it ok to hook everything else to the cranking battery? I use my radio everytime I fish, the lights about five times a year, the depth/fish finder all the time and my livewell/aireator only four times a year when I fish two tournys, but I run it constantly. Would this be to much for the cranking battery? Or would you buy another just for this stuff--a fourth battery? Thanks
  18. Way2slow, so how do you have your batteries set up? I know you know alot about this and I value your opinion. Where do you hook-up your extras/ to what battery, cranking or trolling, or would you split them up between the two? I also have a dual purpose battery that I use for starting (50horse) and have all my extras:radio, aireator, depthfinder, beilge pump, lights, hooked to and have had no problems yet. Is this OK? Thanks Doug
  19. I also would like to know what everybody else does to hook up there "extras",--depthfinder, radio, lights, aireators, etc.-- do you hook to your trolling motor/deepcycle battery or cranking battery? Do these type of things draw that much? I don't really understand what, when, say an aireator draws 1.75amps, it really means on a 12v battery. Thanks Doug
  20. Been reading about some of you putting decks on your boat and was thinking of doing the same with mine. The front of my boat already has a raised deck, but the back does not. It would give me so much more room and storage back there. My question though is would it be stable enough. My boat is 65" across the top and 48" on the bottom. It is about 22" deep, 16' long. Want to put a pedistal seat up on it to. Going to build it all out of aluminum to save on the weight. Any ideas from anyone if this would be stable enough? Thanks, Doug
  21. Just wanted to thanks you for everything your doing for our country and be safe. Hope your home soon! Doug
  22. Great site Glenn!! Thank You very much! Learn so much here! Doug
  23. I don't worry about it to much, maybe I should, although I had a tetnis shot about 3yrs. ago, so I guess I'm good-to go. On a good day of fish, my fingers do get pretty rough from lipping smallmouth and the occasional brush with a hook.
