Thermostat Setting
I used to frequent an archery shop near where I live. The owner was an older guy, and he heated the building mostly with a wood burning stove. I would go there on a saturday to hang out. There would be a pot of chili on the stove, and 6-8 guys sitting around the stove, watching the fire, and taking turns falling asleep. I long for those type of "gathering" places. Just a bunch of guys, having fun, razzing each other, hanging out together and sharing...stories, experiences, advice. Good times.

Thermostat Setting
There is nothing, for me at least, that is as comfortable as the heat coming from a wood stove. My in-laws had a wood stove and for awhile thought I didn't like them cause every tiime we visited, I fell asleep!

Reel Handle Grips
I use them on my Citica 200E reels and the Curado 50E reels. I do not use them on the curado E5 &E7 reels. The grips on the handles of the Citica and 50E are smaller and the reel grips make these more comfortable for me. I also use certain color combinations on my Citicas to help signify which ones have been to Mike at DVT to have the spool bushing? I think it is replaced with a bearing.

Brand Loyalty
I find what I like, and go with it. I have found over the last 6 years or so that I REALLY like the shimano citica 200E and the Curado 200E5 , E7, & 50E. I came to this conclusion AFTER trying reels from Daiwa, Quantum, BPS, Pflueger, Cabelas, and Abu Garcia. After I found what I liked, I sold/traded all the other reels and bought all shimano reels. Fortunately, they were on closeout then, and I scored some major deals. Same thing with rods, I have tried Daiwa, Quantum, BPS, Cabelas, Shimano, and Abu Garcia, and Powell. I settled on Shimano with some Powell rods and again, scored some major savings with the cumara line being revamped. I guess I am brand loyal, but more specifically as JFrancho stated, model loyal. However, I still have eyes on the flea markets and will not be afraid to give other brands a shot if they strike my fancy.

Major League Fishing 2013
Wow, just watched the extended coverage of round 1 of sudden death. A few random thoughts: Denny Brauer still has it. I was surprised Jason Quinn did so well flipping docks Kreit..what a whiney basket case he is. I have always liked him on different shows (Zona's) and others but I was really surprised how negative he is. I really do enjoy this format

Big Time Sports Vs Fishing
I am a rabid Ohio State Buckeye and Dallas Cowboys fan. I have found that it if much better on my health and my family if I DVR the games, go fishing and enjoy my day, and come home to watch the games later. It does two things for me....Since I know if they won or lost, I can watch the game without getting all bent out of shape, and a 3 and half hour game only takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to watch.

I Finally Got One!
I have not tried it, but I saw on In-fisherman (I think), where a guy had a wacky rigged senko fishing with a bobber...aka "strike indicator". I fish from the bank, and wacky rigged senkos are nearly the same as saying "snag". I have thought about trying the wacky rigged with a bobber to see if I catch fish and NOT get snagged so much? Anyone else try this???

Do You Use A Skirt On Your Soft Plastics?
That looks great A-Jay. I have never tried using a punch skirt, but your explanation certainly shows that this is a very versatile lure. Do you use a certain brand of tungsten weight?

Xcaliber Lipless 5/8 Oz Cranks
I like them as well. My favorite color is the citrus?? or citrus shad color. Did pretty well with this lure last year. Also, I think they are very made and the finish is as durable as other lipless cranks

Do You Have A Lucky Song?
Ahh...the good old days. Since you shared a maybe not so fond memory, I will do the same. When I was about 12 or 13, I had really, really curly hair and was given the nickname...wait for it... Poodle. Normally I would have fought over such a thing, but the high school head majorette and summer lifeguard who was at that time the absolute love of my life...even if she didn't know it.... gave me the nickname and told me in front of a few of my classmates that she thought I was really cute. So the nickname sucked, but I also had the "cute" card to defend myself with...so to speak....when the grief got to be too bad.

John, what do you mean "inside the band of the hook"? When time permits, could you post a photo? I am having a hard time picturing what you are saying. Thanks.

Bank Fishing In The Dark?
I have found myself fishing thru the night more and more over the past few years. The lake nearest my house gets a lot of not only fishing pressure but also many pleasure boaters and folks riding jetskis. I usually go after dark....maybe 9-10 pm, then stay until 8-9 am the next morning. I often will catch a little powernap in the middle of the night. I take a few rods and have a few more in the car, carry my normal tackle bag, and also have two headamps...just in case. one more thing, I take deep woods off, but have noticed that after about midnight or so, the bugs seem to go away...apparently it is past their bedtime. I use the same lures I normally would with two exceptions..I throw a black jointed jitterbug and I throw a booyah "moontalker" spinnerbait. I also have luck with same lures as in daytime..senko, grubs, squarebills, lipless cranks, and craw-type lures.

Decisions! Decisions!decisions!
I agree with Snook, shipping and insurance to and back plus the cost of the repair will most likely be around 40-45 dollars plus...unless you think they will repair the reel "under warranty". You can get find a new Shimano Sahara right now for less than 60.00 bucks. I would find a local repairman as well.

Which One Of These Combos To Buy?
If you haven't yet, find and read Goose52's post regarding the pro qualifier reel. That alone makes the difference for me. I have fished the PQ reels, but none of the others. Nor have I fished the rods, so I can't really give you an informed opinion. Good luck with whatever choice you make. Maybe you could do a follow up post and let us know what you chose and how you feel the combo is performing?
