I just started fishing jerkbaits this past fall...so my experience is somewhat limited. That said, I caught the vast majority of my jerkbait fish on a pearl or bone colored lure.

How about the reels being "properly" lubed vs WAY OVER lubed right out of the box. Seems a shame that to get out of the reel what it is capable of I have to send it to DVT...when I get it back it feels much smoother and casts much farther...why can't it be like that out of the box.

No, Sorry. I am a Cowboys fan...I get to watch Jerry Jones screw everything up and then talk about how talented his "super-bowl contending" team is...uh, yeah, right? So, I can feel your pain I do think the teams in Buffalo don't get nearly the RESPECT they deserve for going to 4 straight superbowls. That in and of itself is Quite an achievement.

I too had really good success on both the lucky strike jerkbait, as well as the Xcaliber erratic shad jerkbait. I don't have a lot of jerkbaits....maybe 20 or so, but I have a few each of the following...Lucky strike, Xcaliber, LC pointers, smithwick rogues, rapala x-raps, and some damiki slimjacks. I have done nothing to any of these baits as far as modifying goes.

I threw them on #6 yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft this past year. Just started down the jerkbait road, so not sure if other line types may be better, but I did have moderate success with them this year.

What's the name of the jig in the second pic? type and skirt color please?

I am a member of the posse... (curado E5's and E7's and citica 200E7's as well as stradic 2500's with mostly cumara and crucial rods)...but retain the right to experiment as I see fit...so "they" will not give me my Shimano posse card until and only if I swear allegiance :grin:

And, so it begins! Just messing with you a bit. You are always a good sport. I liked my revo reels as well especially the Winch, but, for me, the shimano E series is just so much more comfortable in my hand. I have been buying some cumara rods for as little as 90 bucks, and they are a major upgrade on everything else I have fished. I am looking at a 7 ft veritas spinning rod as I have a reel with no mate...but I am afraid the posse might ...run me out of town...

Has anyone else seen this show??? I am just such a huge fan of his. Although we fans most likely will never "really" know our favorite pro anglers...I just get the feeling watching and listening to him that he is a really decent, righteous person who has class and dignity. I just read Brent Chapman's blog on the Bass Master website and he tells the tale of Horton stopping to help him at the tournament in Green Bay. I also really enjoy the fact that Horton treats the fish, the outdoors, and his opportunity with such respect. Finally, I appreciate his teaching style...friendly, informative, and lots of details to help all other fisherman.

I have never used 6 lb. test on baitcaster, but for what it is worth, I have a shimano curado 50E spooled with #8 yo-zuri hybrid and use it for unweighted plastics...with no problems.

might I suggest trying the trilene big game mono??? I use it quite a bit, esp in heavier test like 15 and 20 lb. and have not had any problems. I actually think the line performs pretty well. Is is maybe not quite as inexpensive as the Bass Pro excel, but much cheaper than Trilene xl.

Shipping fees and tax do not count. When asked...You have just SAVED 119.98 dollars....which is the difference between regular price and sale price! This is called WOMEN'S MATH. Most men don't have the courage to use this. We are counting on you!

I didn't say taking the PED's automatically makes one an elite athlete. I am aware, just as you stated, that one big advantage is recovery time...which is huge for an event like the "tour" where you are riding every day, every other day. The other advantages include much faster increases in strength, explosiveness, and endurance. Coupled with the blood doping, you have a stronger faster athlete who is more capable of of performing longer and utilizing oxygen in their blood better further increasing endurance. I also disagree with the doping in all sports. NOT a fan of Barry Bonds, Lyle Alzado, Mark McGuire, Marion Jones, Ben Johnson and countless others. The facts remain that when an athlete is competing at the highest of levels of their sport, those that dope have a DISTINCT advantage. To take that one step further, an athlete that dopes that is competing against other "like" athletes...those of similar skill or ability...has a DISTINCT advantage. Said doping athlete still must put in the work and training to gain the advantage. Obviously, if I dope and sit on my couch, I am still not gonna be able to beat Lance in a time trial. But to make the comparison, If Lance dopes, and for instance...Cadel Evans does not, and they train the same...Lance will have a huge advantage that actually grows over time...considering that they are both roughly the same talent-wise and age-wise.

I think you are making my point. I don't agree with the doping at all. However, when you consider that cycling is absolutely filled, top to bottom with dopers(at the highest levels), then you either doped or you could not compete...no matter how dedicated or in shape you were. It has nothing to do with talent or skill, and everything to do with the immeasurable advantage doping gives. Look at Marion Jones, Ben Johnson, Armstrong, Lyle Alzado (RIP), and others who have doped. Carl Lewis was the fastest man in the world for a few years, all of the sudden, he can't even COMPETE with Ben Johnson...why...steroids, HGH, EPO. Nothing to do with Lewis talent, skill, or even work ethic, and everything to do with the advantage that doping gives the dishonest athlete.
