  1. Trussville just east of Birmingham off U.S. 11. Twenty minutes west of Lake Logan Martin. Spent many hours on it, Lay, Mitchell, and the rest up and down the river. Went to work after I got married for the wife's father. He owned a large construction company. We built Oak Moutain State Park, and did the site work in downtown Birmingham for the Jefferson County Civic Center, but mainly concentrated on water treatment plants.
  2. It's still alive and well, for the moment. He did get another one last night though.
  3. I picked up and moved to Alabama when I was 21. Had a possible job, but no guarantee. enrolled at the University of Alabama, got the job, got married, had a child, and stayed 13 years. Probably would be still there if not for the untimely death of my wife. Moved back to Texas a year after that. Personally, i loved living over there. Beautiful area with tons of fishing opportunities.

  7. I am going to try and go the first of next week and spend a couple or three on Rayburn and one or two over on toledo. Wife has high school renunion this Fri and Sat night. Throws a kink in all my plans. Put the new side imaging unit on last saturday and it has not left the driveway.
  8. If you will work with that jerkbait you can make it turn around and look at that following fish. Keep a little slack in your line and when you jerk it give it some more slack . Just as it pauses touch it lightly and it will reverse directions for a moment. It's a timing issue that you have to get just right. You need enough slack to allow the lure to swap ends. Work with it and you can figure it out. I've had a few that just could not stand it when you do this. At times they will just crush it instead of turning away. It's a little easier for me working with a suspended jerkbait. If you don't have one, get one and try it if you are having issues. I don't jerk it hard either. mostly just pull it down, get the slack in the line , and snap the head around when it is off to one side. It usually takes me a couple of quick snaps after the lure pauses to get the lure to swap ends. It will work so give it a try. Once you get it to turn around it won't stay but a moment. Be ready, as the lines pulls the lure back around, see if you can do it again if the fish does not hit. For some strange reason i can't get it to turn around when the head of the lure is off to my left side(As you are staring at it). I can only do it if the head is off to the right. May be because I hold the rod in my left hand, but I have no clue. Good luck
  9. Sad story. My wife told me about it last night, and then started in on me about being more careful.

  25. Depends on the local money. Citys bid on it. The one that guarantees the most money gets the show. At least that's the way it's been for years around here. Probably not going to change with the new ownership either. Sorry to bust your bubble.
