  6. I guess that makes you the oldest fart here since there are none at 60 and older. Where's my prize?
  7. Good, I hope they all have to eat crow. After years of sticking it to us the worm may be turning. I will be the first to admit that they have priced me out of a new boat for a while. Sorry for the hijack.
  8. All they can do is say no when you hit them with about 7,000-7,500. Pick a starting point and get after it. Be sure to leave your phone number when you walk away(And you should at least once)so they can beg you to come back and talk. Good luck and good hunting!
  9. Welcome Enjoy and a speedy recovery to you.
  10. That's kind of of the way I feel about Alabama. I was born in Texas and moved to Alabama when I was 21. Took about 20 seconds to fall in love with it and the school. I miss it.
  11. Alabamabassmaster, keep your head up. It will come. Everyone that you think has it made got there with hard work. Keep at it and fish , fish, fish.
  12. They are all out on the water. No sense in checking the hotels until late. Get on the water and you will find them.
  13. Welcome Enjoy 90% of the info you are searching for is right here in the library. Books I reccommend are: Fishing on the edge: Ike's story Bass Strategies: KVD Secrets of a Champion: KVD Jay Yellas, A Champions Journey of Faith, Family, and Fishing Anything by Doug Hannon
  14. I prefer BC outfits. When I need to downsize I will still fish a BC on 6-10# line and use a light 7' Spec rod that I own. Works for me.
  15. I'm 59 . Just another old fart with too much time on my hands
  16. Everyone has a good story or two. I will start with mine and everyone else jump in and let's hear it. I was fishing a state top 6 tournament many years ago with one of my buddies. It was the first weekend of June and a very raw, wet, and unusually cold for the time of year with high winds and 4-5 ft. rollers. I had a rod come out of my hand on a hookset and as I was reaching for it I went in. Since I was in my buddy's boat I had no extra clothes. I got back in the boat, striped off everything and was standing in the front drying off with a towel. There were several boats very close to us and I started borrowing clothes from several members of our club. A pair of pants here and a shirt there. I had gathered up enough clothes to put on, but was not dry enough to put them on without getting them wet so I continued to dry myself off while standing in the front of the boat. All I needed was a jacket. There was another boat about thirty yards from us that had taken in everything and I hit the TM over toward them to see if they had a jacket I could borrow. They did, but it happened to be a two women team that was bundled up due to the weather that was fishing the same tournament. They loaned me a jacket and needless to say they were in an earlier flight at weighin so everyone knew the story before we arrived. I was totally embarressed and took tons of grief that afternoon. There was one other instance happen to me with no clothes and other people that is posted under the boat ramp thread if you would like to read it. That's where I got the idea for this thread after posting it. Let's hear the stories.
  17. It's the right move to upgrade if you have the chance. Those older parts will be harder and harder to come by. Reliability will be the name of the game.
  18. They were backing down the ramp as I was idling up to the ramp. It looked like a ton of kids and a wife or two, but was actually two men and their wives and three children all under the age of ten. They were laughing a lot when they found out I only had a small hand towel and a life jacket to cover up with. One of the men grabed my shorts and tshirt off the back of my truck and brought them to me thankfully. I laid down in the boat and put them on and we all had a good laugh.
  19. We have a lot of guys on this board that agree with that observation! 8-) Heck yea.
  20. Welcome. I used to live just north of Birmingham and fish Pickwick, Wheeler, and Guntersville a lot. Join a club in the area and those guys will have you on them in a hurry.
  21. Heck yeh and the SM on Texoma absolutely crush them
  22. Welcome to the forum. If you were here you would have a back seat anytime you needed it.
  23. Been there and done that, except I had launched on the river below Sam Rayburn d**n. I was alone also. Left the truck and trailer in the water, striped off completely and swam for the boat. Did not think about it at the time but there were gators in the river. As luck would have it I got to the boat completely naked, drove the boat back to the ramp just as a family arrived to launch their pontoon boat. That was a little tricky but everyone had a good laugh about it and I did not embarress myself any more than I already had.
