  1. I made the choice 23 years ago and have never regretted it.
  2. 23 out of 26 ain't bad considering I zeroed my first three. Congratulations on having a great time. FYI the disease only gets worse.
  3. Great pics. What I really *** is that you have a jacket on you. Man I wish the weather here was like that.
  4. Welcome. You will like it here.
  5. This lake is well known in Texas for the many large sacks that it produces. It is about 3,000 acres of large fish producing water. The lake record is about 15lbs. Starting Sept. 1 you will be able to keep fish under 16". All fish between 16-24" have to immediately be released back into the lake. Any fish over 24" may be kept shortly for weighing to see if it qualifys for the Texas Share a Lunker program(Bass over 13lbs.). If it is over 13lbs the Texas hatchery will pick it up, otherwise if it is not over 13lbs. it has to immediately be returned to the lake. Story going around is that the parks and wildlife electro shocking boat shocked up two over 18lbs in March of this year. I have not been able to verify that though. All fish picked up by the hatchery will be kept until spawning in their facility and then released back into the lake it was taken from.
  6. We have a 13 year old son of one of our members that began fishing with his dad two years ago. He is: Very well spoken Well dressed Extremely polite Very shy(To the point you have to drag a sentence out of him) Nonpromoting May 2008 he fished his way to 3rd place in our monthly club tournament Was recognized by BassProShops, Garland, Texas at the Battle of the Texas Bass Club state championship on Lake Ray Hubbard in March of this year. They called him up in front of the crowd and presented him with a new rod/reel combo Is one of the best young fishermen I have ever seen Has been offered and accepted a position as a pro staff member by one of the largest rod manufacturers in the country This was announced at our weighin Sunday morning and it could not happen to a nicer child. He has no resume, just let his rod do the talking. He is a fishing machine. As soon as I have permission I will post the announcement. I posted this so a few of the young guys can see that if you do it right it will come to you.
  7. Wrong...It was not large enough either
  8. Bass love little kids.
  9. Take it off the automatic mode Turn the fish ID off Get over an area that you know what is under the water, read the unit and see what it all looks like, how it compares Make your on the water adjustments to suit yourself Enjoy
  10. They are not the same as a jigging spoon. Put a plastic trailer on one and throw around any grass or other structure and hang on. They go through the water with a side to side wobble and are deadly. You can fish them shallow or let them fall and fish a deeper layer such as along the tops of submerged grass.
  11. They are great for gifts. They are not the best for catching bass. Most of the standard lures will do the job better at a cheaper price. The lures and adds on this site are designed to do one thing the best. Seperate you from your hard earned money.
  12. Congratulations, now it is on to a specialized rod, reel, line, different colors/combinations, and of course the box to hold them.
  13. I cannot find a wrong way to fish the Jitterbug unless I leave it in the boat. I will also use it when the top water bite is on and I need to follow someone down a grassline. It will usually be good for a few that have passed up some of the more popular top water lures that most or throwing these days.
  14. I must admit I too voted for the plastic worm.
  15. I use Bang Crawfish attractant. I do not use it as an attractant, more to hide or cover up any thing that could turn off or keep the fish from biting due to scents that you gather and transpose from the handling of the soft plastic lure. Welcome to the forum.
  16. You did the right thing. It was her decision. If you had put it back just think of all the enduring conversations you could have had with her and her new divorce attorney.
  17. Once the fish set up for the summer in their deep haunts they are there to stay unless something drastic happens to make them move. That would be a change in water quality, depth, and/or forage base leaving.
  18. Some will follow the water as it rises. They can be found in water only deep enough to barely cover their back if the conditions are right.
  19. 20 fish and you are wondering what you could have done different? Well, you could have stayed home, or taken the wife out for dinner. Sounds to me like you had it going on. Congratulations.
  20. Unfortunately that is not always the case. It was a great night though.
  21. All the post on this thread have been very well said. Great discussion and information I have enjoyed reading and learning from. Keep up the great work.
