Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Muddy, your the man. Good luck and congratulations on the success. Now to me. I have been offline for over a month. Most of you know that I have had a series of neck surgeries. I have had to cancel the B/R roadtrip due to having a Halo installed on my head to correct and allow my fusion to completely heal. Got it off last Friday but still am having problems sitting over a keyboard for any length of time. Getting better but am still several weeks away from getting back into the everyday deal. P-Rock, sorry to hear of your loss.

kb here man did i get a surprise (credit card bill)
My wife had her purse stolen while at work several months ago. Within an hour she had a call from one of the credit card cos. wanting to know if a 45.00 gas purchase was correct. We had never used the card to purchase gasoline and it threw up a red flag. They had immediately locked down the card until they questioned her. She was not even aware that her truck had been broken into at the time. We keep a list of all cards with account numbers and phone numbers in a drawer at home for access to cancel if anything ever happens. Everyone should.

tournament ettiquite towards non-tourney fishermen
Treat everyone as an equal, especially someone that is tied to the bank.. If I come on a spot that has another boat fishing out of an area I will ask them (With an arm motion) which way they would like me to go. If they wave me away I respect their wishes wave back and go to another area. If fishing down a break behind someone else I try to fish something other than what the first boat through is throwing.

Can you pre-fish the day before the tourney?
If you are expecting to draw a check and it is within the rules you better. Conditions change hourly so why would you not take advantage of the time on the water. Bend the hooks down (Then replace them) after you leave the water. I never stick a fish the day before. You would be surprised how far you can lead a bass without setting the hook. Many times you can get a quick look before he blows it out.

What do you guys think????
Why don't you look at a wrap just for the top deck. I had a friend that priced a wrap for his 19' boat instead of shooting clear coat. The price for the top section was 475.00. That's a lot cheaper than painting and you can have any grapic if you wish for no extra cost. Granted you will have to unrig the boat to install correctly but it sure saved him a ton of money and it looks great. He had the company design it exactly as it came from the factory. It was an exact match, been on the boat for almost two years and looks great. I priced one for my backup skeeter and I am going to wrap the top instead of shooting the clear later this summer.

Fishing Girl buys boat and now has questions....:o) NEW PICS!!!!
Glad you asked before you forked down a grand for seats. You can buy a couple of seats to sit in and a couple of more to fish from for less than250.00 from most of the outdoor suppliers. Congratulations on the boat, enjoy, ask any questions you like. We don't bite. Tight lines...

If red fishing line is invisible in the water then why isnt red hooks?
Not for or against either. Never purchased either. I am comfortable with the tackle I have been catching fish on for years, never bought into the hype, Thankfully.

Buying Jon with no title? Difficult?
If you do not do it correctly it will be your responsible for the fines. No one else. If there is no title there is a reason and you need to research the issue. If the boat belongs to someone else they can take possesion at any time, reguardless of the story.

Gary Dobyns injured in boating accident....wear your PFD's!
I have become lax about wearing my PFD even though the kill switch is attached to it. Think I will get back in the habit of wearing it after reading the story. Everyone else should read and take heed.

When do you opt to pre-fish?
My prefishing begins about a week before the tournament. Not with actually fishing though. Map study and weather observations and if it is a river lake the discharge times. Usually begin fishing three days before the tournament and seldom stick a fish. If it is a lake I am familiar with I will start the first day covering water I have never fished. Cut the lake down to size by picking out an area(Upper, mid lake, or lower), and learning as much about it as possible. If I am in an area that I am getting bit I will change lures to see if the bite picks up or not. If I have decided this is the area I intend to fish lots of idling around reading depth finders and learning to navigate the water. Look for isolated stumps or brushpiles off creek channels or points. check the inside and outside grass lines if vegation exists in the lake.

Fishing cold, muddy water????
I fish a jig, big blade spinnerbait and a large plastic. I fish tight to cover as the fish in our area will hang tight to anything when it is way off color. I find it is the most challenging type of senario for me when the water is cold and muddy and try to avoid it if possible. Usually can find fishable water by moving down lake.

I bet there are not mant drunks getting any sleep on the beach at night. Sounded like that last one gassed it right before he hit the runway.

Reaction to the Hydrilla problem in Lake Conroe
I was involved in the first grass war on conroe. The result will be the same. The homeowners association will not let up until every blade of grass is gone. Each homeowner wants a nice clean sandy beach in front of their home. Happy mediums do not exist here. The H/A is the deep pocket 900 lb. gorilla in this fight.

curious about GPS wide open speeds on 18' & 19' glass boats
My nightmare is to buy a used boat from a dealership, then 1 or 2 months down the road have some kind of ridiculous problem that they won't follow up on. I've read a couple horror stories on these forums that have me a little gun shy as far as buying a used boat. And there's just no way i can afford to buy new. Luckily I have a guy i can take with me who knows boats and motors inside and out, so I'm keepin my fingers crossed. I'd love to find a '99 or 2000 Triton 196 w/ a 200 Merc in real good shape. Finally someone that gets it. You are a wise man. Taking a mechanic with you to check out a used boat is the only way to get a prized possession instead of someone else's nightmare. Congratulations on your expertise. There are many wishing they had done the same.

Baits for March
I personally don't believe that a bass won't chase in cold water. I have caught them in 50 degree water ripping traps as fast as I could. You cannot possibly take a bait from a bass if he/she wants it...They don't make a reel that will crank that fast.

Skippin with a baitcaster
I use a roll cast and start to feather the line after the lure hits the water the first time. Took a while but can do it now. If you have a pool or access to a lake make sure you practice with your body the correct height above the water. I didn't the first time and when I got on the water I was totally off. Get a short stool or anything to elevate you about a foot above the water line or make sure you are practicing about the height your front deck is above the water.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
P-Rock, glad to hear the storms spared your family...I jerked my brace off and fished a tournament saturday. Did not make it through the entire day(called it quits a little after noon), but did finish fifth with a small limit weighing 13.61. Thank the lord for pain meds, I got through it. Brace back on as soon as it was over. Trying it out with doctors permission to see if Guntersville is going to be a reality. Long Mike, call me tonight if you read this
