  1. No You still must make the time and effort to get on the water Find the fish Figure out what it takes to make it bite Land the fish
  2. I know Mike. He's a very consistant, good fisherman. I hate to hear that stuff about White Oak. Too many people messing with that area. The jig could have been left under cover. Very few people fish that rig. Until now. Good job by those guys, glad they did well.
  3. I thought the catalogue looked great, especially the section showing the pictures of the side imaging senarios .
  4. I am really surprised no one has mentioned: "Knowing when you are on fish." That was one of the hardest things I ever tried to figure out. It is still a question that comes up a lot when practicing.
  5. This should be an easy fix. You can do it in your yard. Get a stool, a cup, and get after it.
  6. Creek chub Wiggle Fish or the Creek Chub Darter, or the fin-s. I heard all three. What do I know though, it could be something other.
  7. ***Be sure you have a water pressure guage mounted or you risk the chance of losing water pressure if you raise it to high*** Hydralic plates are great to run. You will be able to compensate for a partner, reguardless of weight, to max the performance, adjust for weight variances due to loads, and generally improve the fuel usage. I wish I had one, but I am just to "cheap" to have one installed. Gerald Swindle has an article in either BASS Master or Bass Times about running his. You might want to look it up. Something was mentioned about not towing or either towing it with the motor tucked up under the boat. Can't remember which was correct; however, Gerald said he never towed with the motor down and raised as he was nervous about damaging the lower unit when entering parking lots. Sorry can't remember , but check it out. Let us know how it works for you. Jack
  8. I'm sure you will be happy with the unit. For the money though, I would be installing a side imaging unit on the boat as soon as the package arrived. You had the chance to have the latest technology available and you turned it down. Different strokes for different folks though. JMO. Enjoy, Jack
  9. Probably shock you what you could learn from these very talented ladies. You would be a lucky man if you could spend a day with any of them.
  10. I hear ya Catt...X2
  11. Yes I did. Juanita lives 3 miles from me and she was always in the top 5. Great fisherwoman.
  12. When I lived in Alabama, I fished a tournament on Lake Logan Martin. Everything iced over and the marina had to use tractors to run down the ramp with each trailer. It started out at 17*(Sleet/Snow mid day) and warmed to a balmy 26* for a high that day.It was a mess. Winner had one fish that weighed a little over two pounds. Sixty one boats, three fish caught.
  13. Glenn, you are way too kind.
  14. Jigging spoon 30' plus water Drop Shot
  15. No cotton Layers Good Gore Tex outer wear. Try Cabala's and BPS
  16. Nothing BASS/ESPN does these days surprises me. They could give a rat's a** about the sport anyway. Probably just the start of things to come. While I'm at it, their Saturday morning programing s**ks to. Jack
  17. Have no idea what the water temps will be. I am bailing from the tournament even if they don't cancel it. Low Saturday for the Lufkin area just west of the lake is now set for 13*. Heck, it's now set for 18*-19* for a low in the Houston area Saturday. If any of you are going, just enjoy the heck out of it.
  18. Well at least it looks like it will be warming up a few degrees for Saturday. LOL
  19. Neither will this coming Friday and Saturday. I am supposed to fish(Club Tournament) and the weather for Houston is Snow/rain Thursday/Friday with a low of 24* and a high of 34*. I can promise you I am having second thoughts about it. Houston is always 5* warmer than the lake(Rayburn).
  20. Happy Birthday Ryan. Hope school is going well. Grab a rod sometime. Jack
  21. That should do it. Did you build the skirts or buy them?
  22. Alan, here are the settings I run on my units. Try these and see how you like them. Sensitivity 88-92 Colorline 84 Depth Line On Manuel Mode Off Color Palette 1 Noise Reduction Low Surface Clutter Low Enable WAAS Off Heading Up Look ahead On Ping speed 19-20 Turn on Shallow water mode I turn the fish id off, just my preference The latest update (2.5) for the 520c is dated 7-29-09. I bought my unit in September and it still needed the update loaded. Check yours, I bet it has the 2.4 loaded in it and will need the install. You can adjust from there. Good luck, Jack
  23. Zoom Creepy Crawler Tails for my smaller jigs Gene Larew Craw worms for my larger jigs
