Last year I fished about 50/50 boater/coangler and can tell you that it happens at all levels, both ways. Most of my experience has been positive and a good time. I have even had my non-boater place in the money and catch the biggest fish of his life (8.5#) and that made ME feel good because I put him on the fish. BUT I have had a few instances where I was ready to get out or put someone out of the boat....10 percent of the world are jerks and unfortunately some of them fish.....
  3. I don't mind fishing as a non-boater, when I choose to be a non-boater. I bought a tournament ready boat so I could be a boater and I will not fish tournaments that will not allow me the choice.
  4. Max, Canals in Florida are mostly manmade and typically deeper than the surrounding lakes. 9th st canal will most likely produce a winning bag. Also the canals in Lake Griffin have been recently dredged and have hard bottoms, for the guys willing to make a long run it will probably pay off. As for the spawn, well in Fla it starts in January and ends sometimes in April. I have seen bedding fish for the last 6 weeks but my bigger fish have come from staging areas. Flats in 4-6 ft of water between deeper water and shallow bedding areas.
  5. The big bags will come from Harris cranking offshore..If they can find shell bars with a mix of eel grass the bags will be 20 lbs, but most of those guys are going to try and flip...either Peter T or KVD would be my favorite because they will work offshore most of the time.

  9. Keep your smallmouth. We had a cold front come through yesterday. Dropped the temps to highs in the mid 70's today.........I had to find a sweatshirt to wear this morning for a few minutes
  10. I prefer catch and release for one reason only.....So that someone else may have the pleasure you just experienced. I think it's selfish for someone who loves to CATCH bass, to remove that possibility for someone else. I'm thinking mostly of my children and future generations. Fishing pressure is on the rise in most areas and will not ever go down..One fish released today could be responsible for thousands of fish 10 years from now....
  11. Are ya nuts? Why would you leave this beautiful place? Are you on the run? Is there a shotgun wedding waiting for you here? There must be a good reason. Inquiring minds want to know.

  13. Welcome, you will not believe how much you will learn here in the next year. The only thing more amazing is how much money you will spend on your habit.

Where are you fishing from there newbie?
  17. I think it is what you want it to be...For those who say it is not athletic, well I would like to invite you to stand next to me for nine hours on Lake Kissimee or Harris in a 30 mph wind during March and try not to fall out of the boat. Never mind tying a lure or making an acccurate cast. Or you could try not to pass out during Aug or Sep during the 95* days with no wind and make 2000 + casts to fish who are not eating....
  18. I like the new format and schedule....I did not care much for the SUPER 6 hype though...and I watched it streaming on my comp live and could not believe how long they would drag out the weigh in..Those people in the crowd must have been there for at least 4 hrs to get through 50 anglers..
  19. Small bags and tough fishing....and Harris is not known for its frog bite. The weather here is going to be rough for the next few days.
  20. Most of my trips are either tourneys or prefishing specifically for tourneys so I am normally trying to key on bigger fish on a bunch of different lakes. This translates into probably 15 skunks in the last year, including the one yesterday where I have been skunked 2 out of the 3 times I have fished it. There are also a few lakes on my list with multiple skunks that I still have not figured out. IMO, if you are not getting skunked you are not learning anything.
  21. Mine was a year ago....3 large mudfish and a wealth of experience. Finished tied for last out of 80 boats....Last month we finished 11 out of 76...we are headed in the right direction..
  22. That is awesome EJ, I just spent over a hundred bucks on something that in not near that quality....
  23. Hold out for a good used tracker or something similar. You should be able to find one 6-10 years old and in good shape for around 3k
