  1. what a shame! I wont keep any at all,I cant stand to clean them nor do I think bass are the greatest to eat.Would rather eat crappie.Even If I get a bleeder I try to return it to the water asap.I know that most of the time the fish wont make it but...if it does then great. If I caught a 15+ I would have to consider mounting it.I got a few over ten and one around 13,never thought twice about keeping it.I actually loved watching them swim away.
  2. George, I would respectively disagree. In my best pond the bass patrol along a drop that is effectively a ledge created when the pond was dug-out many years ago. I have often observed "packs" of four and five bass hunting together along these ridges, swimming in the deeper water, parallel to the shallower lip. I have observed this same activity associated with seasonal infestation of spirogyra. Additionally, schools of bass "chase" (follow) schools of bait fish around the same impoundment. On several occasions I have caught what I believe to be "the same bass" at opposite ends of this ~11 acre pond. In part it is my understanding and or belief that most of the larger bass are just like George said. The bigger they are the lazier they can become, and will opportunistically lie in wait for the chance of a big easy meal.On the other hand I believe many bass or smaller ones will follow shad or bait along drop offs and at times corner them in coves or other such cover or structure. We've all had those days when it seems the bass are so active that you could throw just about any bait or color and still get very aggressive action, and bass trying to steal the bait before another one can get to it.Most of those fish like that are what between 1-3 lbs? and they are obviously "chasing" their food.
  3. Wow thats a lot if info to absorb at once! I feel dizzy now,and my head is spinning LOL :-/ All good points though
  4. x2 just started using that this past summer at night, its a killer! I also do a brass and glass with these and a tube rattle,or a rattlin florida rig weight with an additional tube rattle.
  5. X2 you can rig these in every different way imaginable, and work them in so many different ways.
  6. This winterhas been un seasonably warm.I seen bedding in december caught females full of eggs and ones with raw tails. It seems kind of sporadic this year. The majority isnt going at the same time and they will probably do it until april.
  7. 7.5 Yum ribbon,blue fleck,june bug,red shad,and green pumpkin.
  8. This one was built by D+M Customs. It is 5/8oz and made with an owner cutting point hook with a swim shad trailer. It works really well on deep points, rockpiles, and I slow roll it in creek channels, and use it slow rolled at night.I also can pitch it in sparse brush and timber.Just another one of my little toys.
  9. I think someone had a lot of time on their hands when they thought of that one.
  10. now thats an idea speaking of which I have much more succes doing something like that than using it with the skirt and all. This is my baby here:It is a berkley realistix power minnow.Killer lure.Take my word, they crush this thing.
  11. I have 2 of them.Cant complain about the action or fish-ability.Its awesome.I just dont think I will do well since I fish a lot of murky or stained water. This seems more of a sight based type lure, whereas a regular spook type makes all the commotion on the surface.I think it would be dynamite out on the flats and backwaters in the gulf for sure on some snook, trout, and reds.
  12. What I should do?? Work more and fish a little less.Oh well you will have that sometimes.
  13. x2, as long as I get that. Sometimes though if I am having a rough day,one 5+ fish is good enough to call it a good day.
  14. YEAH,Well after the salt gets in the zipper for the pack its worthless unless you wash it out.Ever had a hang nail or a few scrapes on you fingers and use these baits.OUCH! LOL Like I said Yum are my favorites, but the salt on the outside is ridiculous.Like the bass care either way,and it washes off the momont it hits the drink anyways.
  15. backordered backordered! i cant get them anywhere yet.BPS and Cabelas cncelled my orders and basically told me to wait in line.
  16. They put salt IN worms to make it sink and add weight. Also gives it a different action in my opinion. Some say the salt makes fish hold on longer.I am not one to buy into that. As far as putting salt ON the baits? Pure hogwash! I wish some companies like YUM,which are my favorite, would stop doing that. What is the point??? HMMMM Gimmick.
  17. Just lie and say the fish was THIS BIG! LOL.
  18. AHHH,BEEN THERE DONE THAT.You ever try the anchor technique?Throw the anchor out in front of the boat and drag it back.Had to do it before when I got stuck out in 30 MPH winds with dead battery.GRRRRRR!
  19. This has been my killer for stained water recently. The best of both dark profile and flash. It is called ebony shad.Kind of a rare color. All black with blood red eye,red breast, and silver holograhic chrome sides.Deadly! Looks rainbowish but thats the way the light catches it at an angle.
  20. ding! ding![ROUND 2
  21. That too is what i fish, and yes it helps to loosen the drag and definately do not horse the fish, play em slow and you wont have probs with braid.
  22. GL with your new baits Saavedra. Post something if you have success with your river 2 seas. I've been eyeing those for a while.
  23. Question: When do you guys throw red cranks? This includes traps.I have really no experience with red ones and was curious about using them in real stained water. IE. the Rapala dark red craw DT color.
