  1. And dont forget the hot sauce
  2. Braid.Good solid hooksets.
  3. One quick suggestion:Throw a carolina rig around. It will at least tell you what the bottom is like and if there are any humps or steep ledges. eat some of the smaller bass.
  4. The toothpick thing: Take a bullet worm weight slide it on your line as normal Take a round toothpick and force it into the bottom of the weight Break the toothpick off.If there is anything left trim it flush with scissors. Add your preferred hook for the bait you are using. Slide weight against the top of your worm/plastic. Use in heavy cover or when casting pitchin/flippin into brush. Can also be slid up the line to create a makeshift splitshot rig. People complain that it will damage your line, but unless you are using like 6lb or less mono or some thin flouro it isn't an issue.
  5. Be prepared to shell out a few bones for one though.Definitely a cool lure.Monkey has been on my back about sebile for a while now. :-/
  6. If you are fishing clear water then purple worms may not be so great KVD.Junebug,Grape,Black Grape,or any variations of are the go to in stained to heavily stained water and are the nationwide top selling color.
  7. I call it scum or snot grass. Weightless worms:senkos, trickworms, finesse worms, flukes,GYCG kut tail worms.Stuff that will sit on it without gooshing down into it.Use light or natural colors, watermelon, greens, browns, pumkinseed. One of my other secrets is to texas rig a worm with a 1/32 or even 1/64 bullet weight,if you got a rod that can cast something that light. Topwaters, spinnerbaits, shallow cranks, rattle traps, floating jerkbaits.Get a good idea how deep the water is and how deep you can go until you hit the "stuff".
  8. owner wide gap plus.
  9. Agreed.Unless they swim at you : See the hook in the gullet post ;D
  10. Have an open mind to learn, learn, and learn more.Dont always depend on what someone else is doing and trying to mimick lures and presentations. In time with practice you will be able to make decisions for yourself based on past experiences, time put in with certain lures/techniques, and on different bodies of water. Can tell you now that it is so much more satisfying to catch fish with something you thought of using or even a new technique that you never used before.Once you achieve the sense of victory that comes with catching fish on new lures. You will have to accept all the many failures that will come first. In time you can catch a few doing something and then one of your buddies will ask what you are doing or using and want to do it too. Then you can change it on them again and really boggle the mind.Just have to have confidence in what your using. All lures will catch fish, but must be utilized correctly. Then again bass dont follow rules and you never know what might trip their trigger one day to the next. Good Luck J
  11. Its probably for the best that we Florida folks stay out of these kind of threads. :-X
  12. No probs with a toothpick especially on braid.Aint gonna hurt a thing. I keep a large straightened out paper clip with me to pop out the toothpicks with so I can switch between pegged and unpegged easily.
  13. GOOD JOB I have been hauling water with mine thus far LOL,but thats not saying its a bad lure,it has its time and place like everything.
  14. never. ditto on what dsaavedra and matt 5.0 said
  15. Aye.The "chatterfrog"doesnt work the way I like. I was putting a sizmic on a 3/8 and 1/2 way before that came out.You can control the depth.
  16. Thats funny ghost... The first "stick" I tried before even seeing the chatterstick was a mirror lure sinking twitchbait, and didnt work lol. Then tried rapala countdown, rapala twitchin rap,and salmo slider. None of which were successful. The chatterstick obviously is balanced correctly for its purpose. I posted some pictures a while back of at least 2 of my chatterbait creations. 2 of my OTHER most successful ones are: a berkley realistix bungee hog with no skirt.Best of all was before the gimicky chatterfrog. I stuck a sizmic toad on the back no skirt.Deadly lure! I have found no other buzz frogs that work correctly with this except the sizmic I think when I go tomorrow I'll try the reaction strike fatheads I bought.HMMMM. :-?
  17. and so will I.Its a fun lure to screw around with and modify.
  18. x2 what Catt said. Explained well.
  19. ask him if he ever tasted a bass as large as the one in your photo. BLLLECCCCHHHH!!!
  20. No offense given here, but wow! I live in Florida and fish mostly small lakes and ponds pretty unpressured and I would consider a dink anything less than 2 lbs,and thats high for some of the tournament guys who just need to barely make the length limit. How many 5 lb bass can be caught in Kentucky a year?I used to live in Ohio and you'd be lucky to get 1-3 a year LOL
  21. way to go! I erased the name from the side with photoshop lol. That is a slider7 real shiner(the smaller one) and it does a real number on bass too.A really weird bait to use though.
  22. This is one from my collection, but I dont fish it. Dont think it is a real difficult one for some maybe, but you wont find it in your local tackle store or wal mart, dicks, etc :-X Picture is just slightly larger than actual.
  23. TURD.The legs didnt work hardly at all and it was tough to cast.
  24. The previously mentioned bandits and the rapala DT FAT series.
  25. Man sounds like one of those days, just like 2 of them I had last week. Accidentally smacked my parrot dt4 on my trolling motor in my haste to hit some bass I seen bustin a little ways off.Splinters! So I tied on my spare...Had a nice little football on the line and my hook ripped free and the bait smacked the side of the boat.Lip came off the bait. There goes another 7.99. I had other bright colored cranks but couldnt get a bite since that parrot one is my bread and butter in the stained water I was fishing. The day after I was casting a SK king shad that I just finished painting and detailing the way I wanted it.A couple casts in somehow my line wrapped in my rod tip during a long bomb cast and needless to say the king shad sailed off into the horizon somewhere to be found by aliens on some distant world light years away. There goes 20 bucks plus my time painting it.INFURIATING!
