Practical flourocarbon information needed...
I may have spoken to soon. This weekend, I had a lure on the XPS flouro, cast it out, and realized that the line, deep into the spool was "cut". I reeled it in by hand and saved the lure. This is what I am talking about. How the heck does the line, deep into the spool, break? What is the point of using this line if you have to put conditioner on it every time you use it? FRUSTRATED!!!! ajr

Strike King King Shad jointed swimbait.....opinions please...
Hey all, I was at BPS this past week and saw one of these lures. I am into swimbaits lately so I grabbed one. Nice looking bait...a little expensive. Anyone have any experience good or bad with these? Let me know how/where you use them, and hopefully your success stories. Thanks, ajr

Need deep, cold, clear, lake advice from my BR brothers!!
Hey all, I fish primarily in the state of Rhode Island. For the most part, 15' is considered DEEP water here. I was wondering if my mid-west brothers (or sisters) could help me with some advice. I have a night tournament on a clear, cold, deep, (some parts as deep as 80') lake on the RI / Massachusetts border. I am pretty good with a tube bait, not so good at drop shots (we don't use 'em much in these here parts). I expect the air temperature to be in the 50's water temp??? How would you folks advise a beginner at this type of lake to start off? I plan on using tubes, cranks, and some Strike King swim baits. Any other advice is appreciated!! ajr

I am also up in the air right now. Wallumn Lake is not an easy fishery during the daylight at the best of times, never mind at night. It's kind of a drop shot ,deep crank place etc........ I wandered....sorry....are we having a cook out or what?? I was told there'd be food.....LBH is cooking on the Hibachi right??? Maybe some Brats??? Let me know!!!

Catch & Release Vs. Keep and eat
If you use fishing to supplement the food you feed your family, or just like the taste of LMB (which I do not...) don't let anyone "shame" you into catch and release. I would say to make sure you have a vailid fishing license (which I am sure you do), obey your local limit and size regulations, and keep just what you know you will eat. There are enough catch and release guys, (I'm one of them) to keep the population numbers where they belong. I also feel that people who keep the proper size bass to eat are part of the conservation chain. Bon appetit!!!! ajr

i feel bad
I do my best to release all my fish back happy and healthy, but remember, we put a bait on a hook and they eat it. Fish will die no matter how hard you try. Worse for me, I don't eat fresh water fish and don't know anyone that does. ajr

Practical flourocarbon information needed...
I recently spooled one of my baitcasters with flourocarbon. I have all my reels spooled with braid (spinning gear with a flouro leader) with no problems, but I figured I'd see what all the "flouro-talk" is about. I took the reel out for a day on the lake and it was a disaster. Backlashes, line cutting, not pleasant......friends warned me to stay away from flouro. What did I do wrong? I wondered if I spooled it wrong or what. Any help?? ajr

Tragedy X2..... That pond has just as many rocks as bass....tough to navigate during the day. I can't imagine at night. Thoughts to the families. PS Matt, I'm gonna get one too. We both have kids and should "know better" than to go out alone without one. I do it too, but this gets me thinking. I have the belt device, butit is manual inflate. Better than nothing I guess. ajr

BASS cans Coanglers
B.A.S.S. /E.S.P.N. has been heading in this direction for some time. Most people would say, "Bass fishing is growing up." But don't forget one thing...this is all about money. You will now see "Pro-Ams" like you do in golf and the only people who can afford that are the VERY wealthy. How much would you pay for a day of fishing with K.V.D.?? I can assure you, the average guy like me doesn't have those kind of connections, or the cash. If there are co-anglers who are not obeying rules of common courtesy, I can see Ish Monroe's point. How do you manage these "wanna-be" pros who are ruining it for the average co-angler?? You can't, and they won't try. It looks like the old story, "A few ruined it for the many." That having been said, I agrre with those who say, I don't see any ametuers driving IN a NASCAR race, or on an NFL field during game time. As people begin to see bass fishing as a REAL PROFESSIONAL SPORT, this was bound to happen. Forget about Ray Scott. He sold the whole kit and kaboodle and B.A.S.S. is not how he used to run it. Comparing things to the good old days won't help. So if you want to be a co-angler, join TBF, or save your money and be one of the first B.A.S.S. Pro-Am co-anglers....to the tune of a years pay!!! Just fish and be happy....what can you do...peace.... Alan (bassnajr)
