Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
Guys!!!!! There are many "average" fisherman on many tours out there. Average to you and me is STILL in a totally different league than the way we fish. And they make a living at it. I don't think anyone is "bashing" Mr. Dance....just putting things in perspective. His stats speak for themselves, but his main skills are his personality and marketing. I love to watch the guy. I never get tired of watching those 3+ lbers being reeled in!!!!! Be nice all!!! Happy Holidays!!!!! ajr

Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
I just got Versus Outdoor channel and love it!!! Gives me lots to watch and learn for the winter. Bill Dance has a great show....but where the heck is he fishing??? Very rarely does he catch a "dink" and most bass seem to be 3-4 lbs. or more!!! I am not questioning his skill, so please don't go there. The man's a legend...and seems like a real nice guy. So, to any of my Southeren bassin" brothers, do you know any of the spots he fishes?? Anyone every fish with him??? I'd like to hear the stories if so!! Thanks, ajr

Please do me a favor...cach one of those Peacocks for us northern boys and post a picture....make us warm inside and the winter not so long!!!! Peace Good luck!!! ajr PS Pay no attention to those nasty folks behind the curtain..Glenn has them on the run!!!.....NO WORRIES!!!!

UPDATE: A friendly Christmas Challenge to all RI, MA, CT BassResource.com members!!!
Hey all.... I first want to say Happy Holidays to all BassResource.com members around the country. This past year was a great fishing year personally for me...real life...a little more challenging. I found lots of help on this forum and locally from old friends and new ones, both fishing and personally, and I am thankful for that. Second, I would like to issue a friendly Christmas Challenge to all my local BR guys..... I have never caught a LMB in December before last week. A nice 2 lber from shore while I was out "clearing my head" throwing a new lure." I would like to see photos of fish caught on Christmas eve day or even crazier, Christmas Day!!! Winner gets a sugar cookie, baked by me I know I will have to sneek away from the wife to do this, which will be HALF the challenge for most of us!!! Good Luck..and use your imagination!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!!! Alan (bassnajr)

Rhode Island... hang on to your #$%!
I have the answer...buy it's not politically correct, so "they" would never consider it.Form a Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement task force and go after the criminals who are committing welfare fraud on ALL levels. At this time, when more and more legit people will be needing help, we need to flush these scum out from under their rocks and prosecute them. Trust me, there are MILLIONS of dollars stolen from the tax payers each year. It's not the total answer, but it's a start!! Alan (bassnajr)

Kim Bain/Iaconelli on CBS Evening News
DVR'd it so I don't miss it. Wonder if they will have extra coverage on her boat for the tournamant? I'd like to see that. ajr

Where can I get unpainted jigs and weedguards???
Hey all... I am looking to put together some custom jigs in differnt sizes this winter. I am not ready to start pouring, but would like to paint the heads, make my own skirts, and lastly, put the weedguards on. I have put together a few with the weedguards already in place, but I am not happy with them. If there is anyone on the site that pours there own jig heads, let me know. I'd be interested in buying some, if not, please point me in the right direction. Thanks, Alan (bassnajr)

Pelican Bass Raider (mini pontoon) at Walmart
I have one....they are great for smaller ponds. They are not that light. The seats are not that comfortable, so I replaced them with padded seat I got also at Walmart. I fit me and my buddy, both over 200lbs. but less tackle. I would think an aluminium jon boat would be lighter and the same price. Maybe a bit more stable also. I do love it though!! ajr

Do You Eat Bass?
No. If you eat them, they can't grow bigger!!! Someone did suggest pickerel though???? ajr

Help with replacing prop 2004 Johnson OMC 175 HP Bombardier??
Hey all, I have put the boat away for the winter and now the repairs start. First thing I'd like to do is replace the prop on my 2004 Johnson 175 HP Bombardier engine. I have been checking on line but the munbers on the prop I have don't seem to match up. The lettering on the prop is as follows: J 14 X 23P.... Model number?? 48 832834A45 23P I don't see a part number anywhere on the prop itself. Seems to be a 6 or 7 digit number?? Am I missing a number some where??? Any help is appreciated!! Alan (bassnajr)

I'm already going nuts!!!!!
Well.... I guess winter is here for good. Went down to the local pond to de-stress and throw a few lures. The whole shoreline is frozen, not thick, but enough to screw the pooch. Don't know if I'll make it 'til spring. That BR road trip is looking good!!! Alan (bassnajr

The official RI- SE Mass- Western CT who's who
Great idea Russ...now go get a HAIRCUT!!!! Hey all.. My name is Alan Ross (bassnajr) and I am from Johnston, Rhode Island. I am married and have 3 daughters (Now you know why I fish!!!) I am a recently retired police detective, 25 years service. My fishin buddy and police partner, Zen Bassin, were involved in an on duty accident which ended our careers but got us back into fishing as something to do. Trout fishing led to bass fishing and, well...he I am. I enjoy all kinds of bass fishing. Club level, local tourneys, but mostly, just fishing with buddies and Zen Bassin. In the last 18 months, I have set myself goals in bass fishing, and have had success in meeting them all. So I have a NEW set for 2009. Zen Bassin and I are co-owners of a2 001 20' Procraft Pro 205 bass boat and a 10' Bassraider, so we fish ALL aspects of bassin. I look forward to learning more every day from folks here and being on the water, and I always have an open seat for anyone who wants to get out!!! Peace!! Alan

BR Lure Fun Season 2!
I'm in... Keep it down South until Spring and then have it sent up North. I agree with the post about updates. Last I heard, someone was going to get in touch with one of the Mods. and possibly turn this into an article in the bassin world. Sure would be nice to see the map of where it went and the stats behind the lure. I bet Rapala would be VERY interested in this thread....GREAT ADVERTSING for durability and fish catching proof!!! Hollow Body Swimbaits
The advice regarding the hooks is all good. They also sell something called "Hitchhikers" on E-Bay and at BPS. They are little screws that clip onto any hook to hold your bait. Eagle Claw makes a nice swimbait hook, but it has a "spear" typr baitholder that doesn't work. I clip these off and put the hitch hiker on and bamm! The good thing about this type of bait is if rigged properly, the are 95% weedless, so you can throw them anywhere. I have heard they are great to throw at bedded fish as well, but we won't find out until next spring!!!! ajr

CALLING TEAM PAMPERS!
I still pee in the toilet...not in my pants, so I have no side...a back and a front...but no side. Bring it on you whipper-snappers!!!!!! "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!!!!!!!!! ;D ajr

Man made structure/cover
I have read that larger trees/tree branches are the best. Like Muddy said, the X-Mas trees have been reported to hold only smaller fish. I plan on sinking a few large trees (cut them on the shore and drag them out onto the water) and wait for the melt. We'll see. ajr

Info on Daiwa Bait Casters
Daiwa's are some of the best reels around and easy to use. I score mine on E-Bay. Like many others, I started with the "lower end" models and have moved up to the top. My next gift to me will be a Steez. Peace, ajr
