  1. I weep for the future. If it doesn't plug in, turn on, flash with bright lights, and make lots of LOUD noise, kids today aren't interested. Blame the parents for using the T.V. and V.C.R. as babysitters. ajr
  2. Hey folks... I need you to once again come through for me!!!! I cannot find a dealer (on line or local) for OEM Procraft bass boat replacement parts. I know that Procraft is a member of the Tracker Marine Group (Nitro etc.) but that's a dead end also. I have a 2001 procraft PRO 205 boat. Any help will be appreciated!!! ajr
  3. It does have a tint...not totally clear. Probably so you can see it to tie your knots!!! ;D Use KVD Line and Lure conditioner!! Can't say this enough...and follow the directions on the bottle like I didn't. makes flouro alot easier to deal with.!!! ajr
  4. Snook.. Can you get progressive sunglasses??? I had them progressive lenses a while ago and couldn't get used to them.
  5. OK So I finally realize that I am not 25 anymore.... I cannot read the newspaper or phone book without...dare I say??? .....glasses!! That's right........SPECTACLES!!!!! So as you can imagine, this makes certain fishing applications more difficult, like tying on. I am due now for an eye exam. I was wondering if anyone else has reached this plateau and what you did to correct it (fishing wise). Contacts, perscription sunglasses????
  6. OK For those of you following the saga, the adventure continues.... I went out again today, and the XPS Flouro soaked with KVD L+L yesterday seemed to have "calmed down" even more. It did cast a country mile, so that's one benefit I guess. Could it be the more it is used, the better it gets? I also like the idea of trolling it behind the boat and then reeling it in while applying KVD L+L. I continue to wonder, is all this work worth it??? ajr
  7. When someone gets tierd of their's, you can send it to me!!! ajr
  8. I went out today and used the XPS Flouro on my Daiwa baitcaster. It seemed the more I used it, the more manageable it became. It was still coiling up on the spool and I spent a great deal of time peeling the line off the reel and reeling it back in onto the reel. I used the KVD L+L as I reeled the line in to get it onto all of the line. I'll keep trying, but it seems like alot of work.
  9. OK I got the XPS Flouro and right off the spool, it was a slinky!!!! ;D So I took KVD L+L and soaked the line. Gave it a few minutes and then spooled up two spinning reels and a baitcaster with a backing of P-Line co-poly line. I sprayed the XPS as I put it on the various reels, and again at the end. It did seem to calm the flouro down. Now will see when I start to use it!!!!! Thanks for the help all!!!! : ajr
  10. Matt... The ice finished melting the DAY before...so COLD!!!
  11. Hey, In a post in a different thread, I indicated that a bass I caught right after the ice melted on my home pond had skin on the inside of the mouth that was red. I mean as red as the gills usually are!!! Now I have seen this before but not the ENTIRE inside of the mouth. Some have said it's from eating crawfish, (I am not so sure about this) others have said it is weather related, other say it's spawning related. Does anyone have a scienetific answer to what this is??? I know we have some wild life biologists on this forum...I'd like to hear from you. Thanks, Alan (bassnajr)
  12. Hey all... It was 65* here in RI today so I took my new swimbait rod and reel along with a Sebile Magic Swimmer 165 in Natural Shiner . After several casts, I thought I got snagged...until the snag started moving!! Very sluggish, but a nice bass. Must have just awoke from the long winters nap. Reeled her in and she had SWALLOWED the whole bait, and this is a BIG bait. Around 25" long and about 4lbs. and SKIN- NEE!!! Made my day!!! Spring is here!!!! Strange thing...the inside of her mouth was BLOOD RED. I have seen this before, but not the whole inside of the mouth...weird. Photo to follow, if i can figure out how to upload it!!! ajr
  13. Is this a joke??? Is there a camera around here??? If you want to fish for a living, apply for a job as a "Greenhorn" on "The Deadliest Catch"!!! Holy Cow!!! I weep for the future!!! ajr
  14. Been practicing my palomar knot... Not that tough!! Hope it works.... ajr
  15. Hey all, I have noticed that many folks here love using flouro and many hate it. It seems to me that there is just to big a discrepency involved in the use of this line. I myself us braid for everything, from 10 lb. equ. all the way up to 65 lb. equ. I have read the many benefits of flouro, and also what folks report as the down side: mostly breaking line, memory/bird nests, etc. I have been advised on spinning reels, not to put to much flouro on the spool and soak it with KVD L@L. I have also been told that the main reason for flouro break offs is the knot. Others say that the "freshness" of the line plays a big part. I would like the Flouro positives on here to explain what they can about this line. Knots, freshness, KVD L@L, and any other pertinent facts that will help. I understand the benefits of flouro, but I also understand why people wouldn't want to use it for the "constant fear" of breaking off that trophy fish. Thanks in advance for all the POSITIVE replies!!!
  16. If my family needed food...yes Other than that...no!!!!! ajr
  17. PowerPro with KVD L and L ;D It's like Clark Griswold on that snow saucer!!!!!!! ajr
  18. I don't think there "kids" per se....teenagers maybe. Enough said!!! I do agree that giving them a format to display this stuff is the WRONG idea. If I did this when I was a kid, my father would have kicked my a@@!! He would have secretly smiled, but kicked my a@@ just the same. These "kids" committed at least 3 crimes, and should face the legal consequences for their actions. I have been in BPS many times and thought how cool it would be to swim in that tank....I think we all have. But we all have the maturity to contol our actions. By the way..they do go in the tank in scuba gear once a month to clean the tank...I'd volunteer for that!! PS Take it from an old cop....don't grab anyone doing anything...the best thing to do is grab a license plate, that's what I used to tell eveyone!!! ajr
  19. It was short lived.... 12" of snow this week!!!
  20. Thanks bassaholic!!!!
  21. Sorry hjerk24, But those fish are UGLY!!!! Slimy, alien looking things!!!
  22. I believe that IKE was paid to throw the Laser.....I believe he caught fish on them...I believe that he could catch fish with a piece of string, a saftey pin, and a peanut butter cracker. The proof will be in the pudding...do they REALLY work?? Time will tell. If they don't, I don't think any pro with and morals would throw them and get others to buy them. As I said earlier, I checked IKE's website, and Laser is NOT listed as a sponsor. This could have definately been a one time thing for the classic...and a BRILLIANT marketing move. ajr
  23. Anyone use the Gam skip gap hook for worms?? 2/0...3/0... I picked up a package of the 2/0..3/0..and 4/0 for plastics (Beavers etc.). I tried a worm on the 3/0 and it held it right in place. That's an advantage!!!! ajr
  24. It's all about making $$$$$ If the BASS anglers opportunities are cut, they will have to find a place to make up the money.....F.L.W. Their sponsorships are being cut, travel is more expensive, hell, EVERYTHING is more expensive!! You will see more BASS guys fishing F.L.W. if only for the $$$$$> ajr
  25. Hey all... With the confusing, crazy, amount of worm hooks out there, I thought it would be interesting to see what most folks use for there worm fishing. I am talking about plain old 7-10 inch plastic worm, let's not EVEN get into the hooks for other creature baits etc. Chime in!!!!!! ajr
