  2. Russ... All I can say is WOW!!! I will freely admit that I am not that handy!!!! I probably should have said more cosmetic than anything else. Some wiring and some trim paint etc. Ever think about this as a career???? I can see the show on ESPN: Low Budget Make Overs...I'll sign up!!! bassinajr
  3. Hey all... Anyone ever heard of this brand? (TSUNAMI TROPHY Series rods) If so, any opinions on them good or bad?? bassinajr
  4. Hey all... My fishing buddy and I are upgrading/renovating a 1989 Fisher aluminum bass boat. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on preparing the surface of the boat and what paint, primers, etc. for the highlights (trim) on the boat. Maybe we'd be better off using decals but the cost of those would pobably be crazy. Any advice, comments, or suggestions???? Thanks in advance bassinajr
  5. Hey.. I won't lie. If someone asks me what I'm using or areas that are "hot" I'll tell them where I've had luck. It's still up to them to catch them!!!! How many times have you had two guys in a boat. One's hot...ones not....it's the fisherman not the gear or spot. That's my opinion...what do i know!!! lol bassinajr
  6. How could you not want to help out and be part of that!!!! Warms my heart on this wintery day LBH!!!!! ajr
  7. Thank you..as I thought. Does Humminbird make a model that is Navionics ready, or will I need to go for a Lowrance?? Alan
  8. Can anyone tell me the difference between Humminbird's UniMap and Navionics software/chips? Thanks, bassinajr
  9. I know I am probably SUPER parinoid but this summer, I started putting my cell phone in a small dry bag and kept it on me or near me. I'm thinking What happens if we're out here in the middle of the lake and something happens? I fish with alot of "don't worry about it!" guys but I have seen alot of freaky stuff happen when you least expect it. I'll take a ribbing anytime over my dry bag phone and hope I never need to use it!! Alan
  10. Hey all... Since we're sharing.. I was in my 10' Bassraider boat with my buddy. He has a Power worm on a very Large worm hook. He went to cast, and snagged my left ear...right in the cartlidge!!!! After 10 long minutes of him screwing around, I had to push the hook in and then get it out. It was freaky and it HURT!!!! I fish with ear muffs when I am with him now!!! ;D bassinajr
  11. A hand for Glenn please!!!! Thanks Glenn... (My wife told me bass fishing would corrupt me...I wonder if that's what she meant??? ajr
  12. Glenn...you OK in there!!!!??? Let me know if you need a flashlight bassinajr
  13. Strasdadri....can you give us a portion of the letter or a brief paragraph regarding what you were told by B.A.S.S. so we all can copy and paste it with our letters and e-mails? That way, they will know we are all contacting them about the same situation and we can express our displeasure personally!! bassinajr
  14. Hey all... Gues we all feel the same about this. Let's all try to do something for the kids. Contact ESPN via mail at: ESPN ESPN Plaza Bristol, CT 06010 E-mail copy and paste this header into your browser: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?page=contact/espn.com (LBH if you read this can you help out with a link, I am not that savy) I tried to find a Contact Us page on B.A.S.S. but all I keep getting is ads??? Maybe this is the problem??? I will continue to get contact information if folks want. I have a "nack" for this shall we say. AGAIN I ASK, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH A B.A.S.S. TOURING PRO, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES???? bassinajr
  15. Well this sucks!!!!!! > I agree this is horrible. Maybe a call to the local television station is in order. I have found in the past that the last thing a group of "big money" people want is to look BAD especially when it involves kids. This isn't even a story that needs to be spinned. It is a true case of Goliath screwing David. Let's not forget...E.S.P.N. is right down the road for alot of us in Bristol CT. Imagine if the Little Leauge told the team from Lincoln, RI or any other youth team from around the country, Sorry no World Series!!! What an uproar!! Good old fashion Americans making noise and boycotting if nessecary.. P.S. Anyone here know any of the B.A.S.S. PROS???? I am sure that they would not be happy with this situation and perhaps would be a good allie??? bassinajr
  16. I think this thread has morphed into a few different though related topics, so I hope I am not way off. I played golf since I was 10 yoa. A recent accident prevents me from playing now and I've gotten back into my first love, fishing. I was a victim of the "golf club monkey" as a lot of guys are. And competition, among golfers..nah!!! (lol) Buying equipment in fishing is like golf...it's always changing, upgrading, improving. The newest balls, putters, etc. I shop as close to discount as I can!!! I try to get the best I can for my money and having lots of gear is all part of the hobby and passion of fishing. That being said, I'll bet there are folks all over that have one rod, one reel and one tackle box and catch as many fish and nice size fish as any of us. They are probably chuckling at us!!! lol I fished my first tournament this past fall and I plan on doing more next year. Competition is involved but let's not forget what I believe is a BIG part of tournament fishing...the folks you meet, the charities you can help (charity fishing tournaments of course), and just sharing the sport we all love so much. By the way, I challenged a guy to a golf match. He played only one club...a five iron. HE KICKED MY A$$!!! bassinajr
  17. Color is not a deal breaker. I would rather have the GPS and maybe Navioics or other maps etc. Just want a clear easy to read screen that shows structure on the bottom and depth. Thanks for the input!!! (I'll add this one to the list for reeesearch!!) bassinajr
  18. Hey all.. I have a 17' Fisher bass boat that my buddy and I will be restoring this winter. (We live in the North East, so there is a few months down time.) The boat has two older black and white Humminbird fish finders with no GPS or maps. I have been doing research and found the Humminbird 383C color unit with GPS and pre- installed maps of the US. The thing is this...the price seems a bit low for all these features. (Around $400.00) I have seen some others (Eagle I believe) that work with Navionics software. Does anyone have a 383C, and if so, what do you think of it? Also, does anyone know how specific these pre-loaded maps are?? Also if anyone has suggestions regarding entry level color fishfinders with GPS and maps. feel free to let me know. I don't want to make a $400.00 mistake!!! Thanks,
  19. Hey jwo I agree about spending money....I have a wife and three daughters. They can have 12 pocket books each but me have 5 rods OH MY GOD!!! IMO the best advice on alot of the topics you bring up can be addressed by LBH (lowbudgethookers) here in the forums. He can tell you the best ways to get the most from your bait monkey bucks and from what I hear, catches a few fish (lol)...we'll see this spring!!! LBH writes articles for the forum, has great videos, and is just a nice guy.. (OK Russ...you know where to send the money, right??) He has ideas on gear, lures, boats, just about anything fishing!!! Fish on!!!!! bassinajr
  20. You're a hoot Muddy!!!!! ;D Guess I deserve a good lesson....that's why I come here..to learn and maybe help a little!!! Thanks all!!! bassinajr
  21. You are right.... SPINNING REEL (open faced reel) like the old Mitchell 300 reel. Not a push button.... If that's what RW was taking about, I agree with him!!!! my mistake ;D bassinajr
  22. Roadwarrior, I know I'm new here but I value your opinions and honesty, and read many of your threads and ideas. Guess I took it wrong because of the weather here..... bassinajr
  23. Hey Muddy... I don't doubt Road warrior at all...take it easy Muddy. I have learned from reading his posts on everything. I read and listen to ALL members on the forum newbies and the veterans alike. I'm sorry I was not specific enough. and I corrected that, I thought. I just don't think anyone is less of an angler or sportsman based on waht reel they use. Sorry if you were offended... bassinajr
  24. Really... Not that I care what Skeet Reese or any other pro uses but I see MANY spincast setups on TV on Saturday and Sunday. I take a offense with that comment. The last (and first) tournament I entered, many $50,000.00 bass boats stocked with baitcasting setups drove away with ZERO fish. At least I caught ONE bass on my Walmart Johnny Quest spincast set-up!!! bassinajr
