BPS 5 for 5 free shipping
Hey all.... I saw this add in one of the BASS magazines. One thing.... When I click on the link, I don't see the secure "padlock" on the tool bar at the top. Maybe it appears when you check out??? Where does it say free shipping on anything else you order? If that's the case, it is a GREAT DEAL if you have other stuff you need. Be careful all!!! No "padlock"..no secure site! bassnajr

LBH... That is the name of the book. About all it's good for is to show where the deeper "holes"/areas are but it was nice of her to send it anyway. ajr

I think LBH just made my point for me.... The rules should be the same on every body of water, private or not, day or night, new DEM officer or older DEM officer... The DEM officer I talked to said that the officers themselves are sick of this nonsense. The laws are antiquated and need to be changed. Their own rules and regs. are confusing!! Remember the ramps that were put in with federal grant money have there own set of rules. The officer I met was at the boat show in Providence and she seemed very cool. She was the one who told me about entering any body of water from private property being O.K. That's not me saying that, that was her. She also said a younger DEM officer will tend to be more "picky" then a veteran. As far as researching each pond or lake, that's where (IMHO) the DEM has to come into the 2000's. It's not like "only children fish for trout in Frosty Hollow Pond", it's "OK where are we going today, get the rule book out, no not there, you can launch but can't use the motor, which DEM officer patrols this area?"...come on!! Rember, private lake or not, when stuff happens on those bodies of water, the local "cops" call...THE D.E.M.!!!

Information for Rhode Island and surrounding area fisherman
I'm going to steal my brothers canoe this week for places even the Bassraider can't get at!!! (which ain't too many places!!) Crazy thing Matt..if you have someone that lives on any lake or pond in RI and can gain access to the water via private property, use can launch and USE any size motor!! It's just screwed up, but like tin says, this is Rhode Island, "The Corruption...I mean Ocean State!!" ajr

Your right tin, I just don't see how they can enforce the law differently pond by pond and officer by officer. Doesn't make sense. ajr

Hello all... I have gotten some more information from the R.I.D.E.M. regarding launching, using, boats with motors over 9.9 HP. The D.E.M. gives specifics about what is allowed at what ramps. I also have been given a book with VERY SIMPLE topo maps (depths basically) of all the ponds and lakes in Rhode Island and fish information for all the ponds and lakes as well. If any one wants a specific map or a copy of the "9.9 HP Rules", PM me and I'll do my best to get them to you. bassnajr bassnajr

BPS Foxboro update 1-11-2008....
Hey all... Went to the BPS "Boat Show" today to look at a possible with my fishing buddy. First thing...there is no boat show. Maybe there will be something this weekend?? One of the boat salesman told us that the boat show flyer that went out was for all the other stores not Foxboro. The other stores have '07 left overs where you can get some great deals. No 2007's in Foxboro. Also no restock!!!! I can't believe it. I told a couple of the salesmen I have gotten to know that their are a ton of guys waiting to use their X-Mas cards but not until more stock comes in. New stock in SALTWATER only this week. The salesman also said that customers are getting peed off at them because there's no stock. Not good business corprate!!! bassnajr

What makes a good fishing partner?
Great questions on here today!!! My fishing partner and I are oppisites. I am cast, cast cast, he is slow and methodic. The main things: We respect each other. We make each other laugh all day. We truly are happy for each other when one of us hooks up, and the other goes right for the net, if nessecary. We have fun, even when things are so great on the water. (Like when I left the drainage plug open on the rear of the boat, and almost sunk us!!) :-[ Yeah, like none of you have ever done that!!!

Asking your wife's permission...
PS Married ADULTS don't ask permission from each other They do "run things by" each other...just figured I'd add that......

Asking your wife's permission...
Good question!!! Anyone WHO IS MARRIED absolutely checks with the wife before making ANY plans never mind fishing. If you don't, then you won't be married for long. I would assume that the fishing buddys mentioned that are peed off are either single or divorced, and are giving their married buddies a hard time. If their not kidding and are truely mad, then I would find new fishing buddies. You don't respect my wife and family, YOU DON'T RESPECT ME!!! My wife knows how addicted I am to fishing and how much pleasure and peace it gives me. I am in a better mood, less stressed, and have a clearer head. When she she's NO to fishing, I know she has a very valid reason (money, family obligations etc.) and I don't ask twice. It's no. IMHO bassnajr

Affordable rods, spinning and baitcasters..what are some of the good ones??
Hey all... I have been scanning the threads for rod information. I have also come to realize that our forum has guys/gals from all walks of life and all economic backgrounds, so that being said here are my specific rod questions: 1. What are some of the best rods from say $25.00 to $120.00?? I think this covers a wide range, from Walmart to BPS. 2. How is the quality of the rods sold by BPS? What are the better rods in their arsenal? Thanks in advance!!! bassnajr

St. Croix Rod...Deal..or.....No Deal!!!!!!
Hey all I went back to Dicks and returned the rod. Not because I didn't like it, but after I did some research, and with the help of you guys here, I realized that they had marked it wrong (too high) and then took 40% off, so it was NOT a great deal. I guess for an Avid it would have been. Thanks all... ajr

Winter Needs to end really soon
I could not let a 65 degree day (1-8-2008) go by without throwing a lure. I went down to the small local park and cast for about half an hour. It was theraputic, even though the old people walking in the park were looking at me like I was a nut!!!! Ma nature is definitely busting our chops here in the North East!!!
