BR State VS State fish off......
LBH.. Don't listen to a few jerks on here!!! I am getting a little tired of members who have "smart a&&" remarks all the time on the posts. This guy is just making suggestions. He organizes tournaments for Gods sake!!! We are here to help each other out. If an another member can help you build a better mouse trap, why not!! Some members think they know everything...gimme a break!! The proposal made in this thread is a GREAT idea. It is also a HUGE undertaking..the more ideas the better. If you don't like someones ideas or post, PM them. KEEP THE NEGATIVES TO YOURSELVES PLEASE!!! AJR

Mike Iaoconelli flippin out..
I agree about "Ike"... Every sport needs its "bad boy" if you will. The guy who pushes the envelope. I think it's great that there are more guys who are interesting in bass fishing. It is a sport, but it is also entertainment. Nothing more boring than a good "pitchers duel" at a ball game!!! PS I make the comment regarding the hard to find Ike video because in the internet age, EVERYTHING is on video. find that this video being "unfindable" is interesting..thats all. If you have a negative comment, please keep it to yourself. Thanks.

Maps of Lake/Pond bottoms (topos?) In Rhode Island...all New England
Hey folks.... I asked this question before but don't know if I phrased it right so I'll try again. I am looking for a CD, or hard copy book, etc. of lake/pond bottoms in Rhode Island and the New England area. I plan on putting a Lowrance 520c on my boat this Spring and will have the Navionics card for the area in the unit. I still would like to have "hard copies" to look at for saftey and fishing reasons. Anyone know of such software or good old fashioned (modern) books? Also, are Navionics cards able to be read on a PC and are you able to print the images from the Navionics display? Any help is appreciated in advance. ajr

I bought a reel last week from fivebasslimit for a great price waiting for it to arrive. Give him a PM. I am sure he can help you and keep keep the price down!!! ajr

Ideal Beginners Bait Casting Reel
hey.. I am new to baitcasting as well and the difference between a Real Cheapee" and a reel you can learn with (as I am doing) seems to be, and I hate to talk money, the $100.00 range. That's when you see a REAL difference. But first, read the ABC's of bait casting right here on the BR threads. How they work, what the magnets are for etc. I also agree with a narrow spool, one that fits your thumb snuggly. Practice makes perfect: stick with it and it gets to be second nature!! Good luck! bassnajr

Best and worst TV Shows...
Depends for entertainment value or learning....?? I love Zona (Baby cub...baby cub....) who wouldn't want to fish with that guy!!?? C'mon!!! A Day on the Lake by Quantum is a great show. I think it shows how some of the best fishermen in the world check out a body of water, lay out a game plan, and sometimes, strike out, just like us regular folks. Charlie Moore is starting to get on my nerves, and I heard is a jerk to his crew...15 minutes of fame????? ajr

Ma state record
IMO, The LMB record for the State of Rhode Island will fall soon. It is bound to happen with more anglers fishing "exclusivley" for bass and techniques, equipment, and knowledge advancing. Peace... ajr

Spinnerbait and jig skirts...
...and they have the ones with a built in band at the top (all one piece) like a little hula skirt. I am watching some of these on E-bay. I imagine they would last longer and be easier to take on and off to use on different lures. ajr

Spinnerbait and jig skirts...
Great guys and thanks! I am going to get into making some lures this year. I figured the jigs and spinners would be fairly easy to start out with. Let's hope so... ajr

fluorocarbon line??
Go Buckeyes!! I have had NOTHING to do this winter but read and study on line (BassResource.com) so here goes.... Here's what I have found. Flouro sinks, is nearly invisable underwater, has MINIMAL stretch, and is abrasion resistant. It allows you to use heavier test lb. line in clearer water. There's alot of talk about knot strength. I don't buy it 100%. Tie a good knot...it should hold. Mono floats and is a good line for top water baits, poppers, and a good all around fishing fine. It hasn't been around forever for nothing...like any line (or any item for that matter) you get what you pay for. 3000 yards of Skippy Mono at KMart for $3.99....well. Braid, which I "discovered" this past fall is strong, light, and good for "tough" conditions, working heavy cover etc. I plan on trying braid with a flouro leader this spring as suggested on BRS. I found it a lot easier to cast on baitcast reels, also new to me, which was fantastic and gave me more CONFIDENCE with the baitcaster. Braid is also VERY expensive. Several members here gave me a good braid tip. Start your reel with mono or flouro to fill the spool. Join the braid to the spool line with a good knot. Saves lots of line $$$$$. Hope this helps and as always this IMO on all this. bassnajr

First time buying sunglasses
One of the most important pieces of fishing equipment is a quality pair of POLARIZED sunglasses. I bought a pair of those Renegades at Walmart they hurt so much I got rid of them, and they didn't work. I'll shop bargain where ever I can, but buy lures with the Walmart card and get a pair of Oakleys. Look for an Oakley Vault. They have clearence in the $80.00 range. I splurged in this case. Well worth the money. Most guys wouldn't think twice about spending $100.00 on a reel???? Good luck! bassnajr

shallowest depth without spooking fish?....
Pick up and watch the KVD 3 pack DVD from BPS. (best $10.00 fishing wise you can spend IMO). He talks alot about moving in shallow water. Slow and steady...don't be on and off the TM up and down with the speed. Hope this helps... bassnajr
