  1. I've used the winter to research, try out, and buy my new rod and reel set-ups for the upcoming season. I plan (right now) to have available two or three spinnng set ups and three, maybe four, baitcasters. The gear bag is packed and ready to go. I have joined a local bass club to enter the world of "friendly/competitive" fishing, and hope to upgrade my boat before setting out. The baitmonkey has hit me hard and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. I find myself stopping in BPS,(damm that Robert Kraft!!) Dick's etc. "just to look", yeah right! If spring does'nt come soon.... : Oh well!! ajr

  3. I took my girls trout fishing last summer. My oldest was yelling, "I got one!". I ran over and she had the smallest bass I have ever seen on. This bass had a diaper on it was so small no more than 4" long. We kid my oldest that she has "the record". ajr

  12. Hey all... I got to thinking...there are many "frugal" bassers on this sight always looking for the best deal or a great deal. I thought it might be cool if we share with each other, deals we have come across in our travels. Whether it's a one time "Wow! or something we can share with each other and take advantage of as a group. Since I have joined the forum, I always passed on items or deals that I think others might be interested in, and I know most other folks do too. Here's my deal of the day..An Abu Garcia boat bag at Dick's no tag on it...the manager sold it to me for $9.00!!!! Deal or no deal!!!! Check out the photo!!

  16. Sounds to me like your "buddy" owes you several hundred dollars worth of fishing gear. That's a crappy thing for someone who is supposed to be a friend to do..... Good luck PS Check this guy out on E-bay..he has great stuff cheap! I don't have anything to do with him other than I like his stuff....GOOD LUCK!! http://stores.ebay.com/THE-REAL-LIFE-PRIVATEER
  17. Hey all... I had a bunch of rods and reels entrusted to me to sell. Most are gone, but I have a few left. One rod that jumps out at me is a mint Sears and Roebuck 8 1/2 foot fly rod. On the rod it says Model#30439 "Made in Japan" Tubular Fiber Glass Sold by Sears and Roebuck. The number 764 is right before the model number. It is green in color with white and green stripe wraps. Does anyone have any idea what this is worth? If so, is anyone interested? I don't flyfish so...... Any info or interest feel free to post or PM me. Photos to follow bassnajr
  18. I just bought a lefty Megaforce with the Twitchin Bar'. Can't wait to get it and USE it!! bassnajr
  19. Hello all... I know on this forum there are bass fishermen from beginners to pros so bear with me..... I am new to electronics. I have two older b/w Humminbirds on my boat that came with few instructions. Other than the manuals that come with devices, can anyone recomend a book, tape/DVD that can help newbies understand the BASICS of reading what they see on the screen. I know that all units are, for the most part, different by brand, etc. I am good at picking spots by sight and know the general wheres and hows of bass fishing. I feel that I am missing a big aspect of bassin by not truly knowing what I am looking for/at on the screen. Having said that, I don't want to be one of those guys that is staring at a screen all day. I am also aware that there are folks on here that don't bother with electronics at all for various reasons. I'd like to hear from you as well. Thanks, bassnajr
  20. Yeah..I'm from Rhode Island...and one of the LEADING TV shows on the air is based in Little Rhody...it has class, it's educating, and has a huge audience. That's right...The Family Guy!!! Big whoop..wanna fight about it!!! ;D ajr

  22. Burlizzle.. I hate to set a "cut off" price but that's a good point. I am sure there are good $50.00 reels out there but is it the $100.00 mark? ($60.00 on sale) th water mark for baitcast reels? ajr
  23. I just logged on SOLD OUT!!!!!!!
  24. I wish I had the extra money to spend $20.00 on a lure...god bless you. I think it's more the fisherman than the lure anyway...IMO. I went out with my cousin end of the season and forgot my tackle bag!! I fished the whole day with a NASTY colored deep diver crank bait with rusty treble hooks from the bottom of his tackle box. Cousin 0 bass.....me 3 bass, one a 3 lber. And I'm no pro, far from it..believe me!!! PS Where does it say that it's $5.00 shipping for everything you order from BPS? Do you find out at check out? Thanks, bassnajr
  25. Hey all... I'm new to using baitcasters so I am asking the experienced folks on this forum: Would it be fair to say that higher quality reels are easier to use than their cheaper counterparts or should it even make a difference? Also, I learned to fish and still use all my spinning gear left handed. Should using a left handed baitcaster make a difference? I bought a "skippy" brand reel last summer and almost threw it in the water. Every other cast was a backlash. I picked up a "better" quality BPS Bill Dance LH baitcaster. I put Power Pro braid on it and WOW! No backlashes after 20-30 casts! Can't wait for Spring!! bassnajr
