  1. A very noisy spinnerbait with Colorado blades (dark colors), a RATTLE jig with a large trailer (black and blue), or a rattle trap...any color. Noise, big profiles, and SLOW fishing this time of the year. Now, I am going out to try what I just said!! bassnajr
  2. OK Husker... Now you have to go poke him in BOTH eyes!!! And put a little tartar sauce hear the corners for the "puss" affect!!! ;D ;D
  3. Ahhh! Blood in the stool!!! The Triple Dog dare ya!!!! Very good my friend!!!!!! ajr
  4. Blood in the urine... no one questions it...Hell no one wants to talk about it!!!! ;D
  5. FBL... I think that about does it!! That makes a lot of sense. 51% of your yearly income. So all I have to do is win $10.100.00 in tournaments and I can join!!!!! Wahoo!!! ajr
  6. Hey all... I posted earlier in this catagory about what your definition of a "pro" angler is and the thread is VERY interesting. All great and varied replies, as I knew they would be from the BRS crew!!! Here's the next one... What does it mean to be "sponsored"?? Are there different levels of sponsorship? Are there anglers who are "sponsored", but do not fish tournaments? I hope some of the folks on here who are sponsored can give us newbies some insight? Oh and also...no I am not a "pro" nor am I "sponsored" (that I know of!!) nor am I looking to be. It just seems I here alot of guys throwing these phrases around pretty liberally, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks!!! Alan (bassnajr)
  7. OK We are nailing it down, but I still see a wide variety definitions. Let's try to narrow it. If you win money are you a "pro" or is just attempting to win good enough? Do you have to pay an entry fee to be considered a pro? (another point) What about having sponsors? Good thread so far.... ajr
  8. Hey all... I would like to hear members definitions of what they feel qualifies someone as a "Pro Angler'. In golf, if you are in a charity tournament, hit that hole in one, and win the car, you have TECHNICALLY become a pro. I feel that in fishing, people throw the word "pro" around pretty freely. Because you win money in a local tournament, are you a pro? Because you mortgage the house to buy a $50,000 bass boat an wear a Ranger shirt to FISH for money, are you a pro ? You see what I am saying, CHIME IN!!! bassnajr
  9. I have joined my first bass club this year and I believe it is with a group of guys that are trying to get AWAY from what you are all talking about....we'll see. Whenever you add MONEY to an equation, things change, and most times, not for the better. As far as beating a "pro" in the front seat, I can imagine that there egos are bigger than their personal best and more tiimes than not, they will find a way to "punish" you. As I said, this year will be my first fishing tournaments, and I am being encouraged by my new club members to fish some "big" tournaments. As far as being a non-boater, I would lay down ground rules with my "pro" before I left the dock. What is expected of me? What should I do/not do? etc. As long as I was courtious, helped out my partner, and did my best, if my "pro" treated me like a jerk, EVERYONE would know about it, not just his sponsors. > IMO bassnajr
  10. Hey all... I am looking to insure an older 17' Fisher bass boat with a 25 hp Mercury engine. I have never had boat insurance before and was wondering what the procedure is. Can anyone suggest a company? What should I be paying per year? Any companys specialize in just marine insurance? Thanks for your help in advance! ajr
  11. Hey... Watched FLW this morning... Not that Hulk Hogan (to my left) is not annoying enough on here, he was on the bottom of the screen during the show hocking Fantasy Fishing looking like a total idiot!!! Hulk we love ya!! Don't lower yourself any more....call Vince McMann. I'm sure he can give you a job! :-/
  12. WELL!!!!!! Is it or is it not MYTHICAL/MYSTICAL!!?? AJR :-?
  13. Welcome!! I have the Bass Raider 10 and I believe it is a bit bigger and heavier than the Crawdad (PM Matt 5.0 to see) I usually have two 200lb. + guys and our gear and I have not had any problems. It weighs about 150lbs. so depending on your definition, I don't know if it is a car-topper. I got a small used flat bottom trailer to lug it around...alot easier...look on peoples lawns etc. this time of year. I scored my trailer for $40.00. The Bassraider is pretty stable. One guy at a time can stand up...CAREFULLY. Pelicn sells the pre-wired and "not wired" models for trolling motors. For the extra $$ I can't see getting the pre-wired. PS Depending on your fishing style and area, you might want to choose a canoe..they are A LOT lighter and a definite car topper!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
  14. Hey all... I walked around my local pond today. I fished from shore, because I didn't have time to get the Bass Raider out. All I caught was some fresh air (which wasn't bad!!) but no fish. I did pick up a few deer ticks, so guys here in Rhode Island, be careful and check yourself. Kinda early for ticks but...... Has anyone fared any better??? Maybe next week!!
  15. The boat looks great...the motor??? A good way to judge your starting price would be E-bay or Craigs List. I agree with TopDog..great time of year to sell it. If you can place it in a high visability area, even better. I think you could get between $250.00 and $500.00 remember..there's an a** for every seat. Good luck!!!!! bassnajr
  16. I have two pair of polarized Oakley Monster Dogs...one amber, and one black/w purple mirrored lenses. Amber for dark days...black/purple for sunny days. ajr
  17. Hey all.... Hit the reel trade in today at BPS..they didn't have the reel I wanted, but it seemd like alot of good deals to be had. Also, many in store sales during this "Spring Classic" but supplies are going down again. Main item of news....Shimano reels are not included in the reel trade in. Fine print at the bottom many folks didn't notice. Happy shopping!! ajr
  18. Matt, Where ya going...or is it a secret?? ajr
  19. Hey all... It was close to 60 degrees here in Rhode Island but windy. Thought about launching the Bassraider but the wind???? Decided on some shore fishing. Didn't catch a thing but "got my fix" for the day. Still supposed to be warm this week, but rain and wind. I am going to try to get out later in the week...HOPEFULLY!!! Let's keep our fingers crossed!! Anyone else from the area get out today???? bassnajr
  20. All the other fish laugh at him because of his lip...I don't think that's right.... i think I'll book an appointment with Dr. 90210 for him. ajr
  21. Hey all... I am entertaining the idea of buying an airbrush set up for customizing existing lures and possibly making my own lures. Any advice for the beginner? Where do you start? How easy is it? Thanks, bassnajr
  22. A hot cup of coffee while in route on the water to that first spot, mixed with the way the water and woods on shore smell early in the morning. ajr
  23. bassnleo, If we have not optimism, we have nothing...... (Pretty good huh? I made that up myself!!) bassnajr
  24. I wish you luck, focus, and Alka Seltzer Plus cold medicine.....it cures what ails you!!! I am heading out this week too. It would be great to bag a few nice ones..hell it'll be great just to get out again!!!!! ajr
