  1. Looks like a salt water fish??? Nice colors!!!!
  2. Hey.. If you are going out that early start out with a topwater...smallies love topwater. As a matter of fact keep a topwater on all day. If you see baitfish busting...you know what to do. Use a small tube (2.5 or 3.5) on a ball head jig vary the weight until you get bit. Don't forget, tube is a bottom bait...drag or hop it. Where the sand drops off into deeper water should be a nice spot. A grub on a ball head is also a good choice. Vary color and weight. Good luck!!! Alan (bassnajr)
  3. Common problem and you sound like you are handling it the right way. I will say, I had this problem last week even line watching and having the right tension on the line. The bite was SO light...no line movement...no ti-tic...weird!!
  4. I fished one time in wind so bad, I looked like Lt. Dan from Forest Gump on the front of the boat!!!!!! (Is that all you got!!!)
  5. Question.... Did you try a jig matching the color of the craws with a large trailer or a 4" tube?? The larger trailer may be just enough to get them biting, and the tube moves more than a jig but less than a crank. I'd be interested in how you make out and if you have tried these methods.
  6. Hey all... I was in a state tournament last year as a co-angler. In the middle of a large lake in upstate New York, my anglers boat started to take on water (bilge problem). This guy was like McGuyver!!! He had wire and and was able to jump the bilge right from the battery. A little duct tape and some quick thinking....dangerous situation averted!!! This got me thinking..what's on my boat...am I prepared for whatever???? I figured I'd ask here...what kind of "McGuyver kit" do you folks have....just in case???!!! Alan (detajr)
  7. Like a plain senko, it is important that it falls ON A SLACK LINE. Remember to let it sink to the bottom and work it slowly towards the surface until you find out where the fish are hanging. The weight and worm type play a BIG difference. I was in a tournament with a guy...I was the co-angler. We were both "flicking it" he was catching.....I wasn't. I was using too light a flick shake jig and was not getting down to where the fish were. He was also using a Jackall flick shake...I was using a Zoom finese worm. Slight differences make a BIG difference, I have found. Alan (bassnajr)
  8. If you see a bass going in circles and they are chasing bluegills there is a bed nearby and he/she is guarding it. Bass on the beds that are "skittish" usually mean they haven't "locked on". The nest is built, but the eggs haven't neccesarily been layed (one opinion). On the other hand, if you see a bass "lingering" on the outskirts of several sunfish beds, not chasing them, there is a pretty good chance the bass is waiting to ambush one of the bluegills. I have been using a 1/4-3/8 oz. "blugill" pattern jig I have a guy make for me. The bass ATTACK it on the beds and else where!!! Good luck!!! Alan (bassnajr) PS...bass that are just "cruising" I have found are very difficult to catch...they just don't seem interested....JMO.
  9. If the sunfish are spawning as well, could be some post spawn fish looking for a nice meal. When you find a bunch of sunfish beds, look on the outskirts....you'll normally see a nice size bass lurking around. IMO PS...sounds like you may have bass in different stages of the spawn as another poster said.
  10. Hey all.. Been thinking about buying some of this...but??? I want to hear from the guys/gals who use it..an honest answer. Does it work...not work...or..hell...I don't know!!!! Thanks, Alan (bassnajr)
  11. ...and what the hell does this mean??? I don't care if you are Guatemalan...read what you wrote...any problem with what you see??? Un frickin believable !!!
  12. Is this a joke?? What are you trying to say?? I don't understand you!!!! That's the problem these days. Why follow the laws?? Where's the fine money going?? Come on!!!! What happened to doing what you are supposed to do when no one is watching just because it's the right thing to do. This country is DOOMED!!! These people now out number the good folk.
  13. Tried a new jig today...blue gill color....UNBELIEVEABLE!!! They didn't want that thing anywhere near the bed!!! Gotta grab a few white jigs though........
  14. Why were you serving sushi at your house last night then? Shhhhh!!!! I told everyone it was tuna..(and the pickerel was octopus)!!!! ;D
  15. Thanks guys.... I'll join the club then!!! I always IMMEDIATELY release bed fish.ASAP. Alan (bassnajr)
  16. Hey all.... Was bed fishing yesterday when the wind kicked up big time. Out of sheer laziness, and an attempt for a little better control of my bait, I started throwing a jig to the beds...the bass did not like this at all!!! I got some killer reactions and caught some nice fish. When I think of site fishing, I don't usually think of jig fishing but?????????
  17. I agree, but if he didn't have any previous charges and convictions (which I don't think he did) this is in fact quite a punishment. Serving ANY time on a first conviction is rare. If he had done this back in the "wild west" days we all know what would have happened!!!! I do believe he played himself off as a religous man as well. His real punishment will come at another time.
  18. Used mine today... Super light, very balanced. Comparable to the Carbonlite at BPS, but the handle is longer...which I like. A hell of a rod for $59.99. They'll be even better when they go on sale, or I have a Score Card coupon!!!!!
  19. Hey all... I picked up one of these today at Dick's sporting goods today. At $59.99, they seem to be very similiar to the BPS Carbonlite rod I picked up a few weeks ago. Anyone have an experience with these yet??? At this price, I am figuring how can you go wrong!!?? Alan (bassnajr)
  20. When they get this big and this prolific, they are becoming a problem...if you get what I mean!!!
  21. I understand and apologized......
  22. Sorry....really...that was a stupid thing to say. :-/ I apologize!! Didn't mean it that way. I just meant if i made them myself they might be cheaper. But then again, seeing what you go through, I doubt it!!! Alan (bassnajr)
  23. Ya know what??? I am thinking about doing this. For the price people are charging for these, I can make my own, and sell them to others at a MUCH better price. AND I have access to an unlimited amount of lead...hum????
  24. I have none of these. As I remember, for all the "t"s etc. the cost was prohibitive, that's why I ran the two separately. The units only came with the antenna and the power cord.
