  1. I'll be there as a non boater also and there is another guy from ohio who will be there as well.
  2. Just wondering how many people were planning on fishing Erie this spring, and when. I'd love to fish with some of you and learn/teach each other about Erie.
  3. Awesome fish, nothing like river smallies, looking forward to this spring. A close second to river smallies, Erie smallies and you better believe I'll be up there a lot this spring! You can catch 10 4lbers in a day! Gotta try it out if you never have. Guys in the north should take a trip up there.
  4. Thanks for the advice. I've read how to do it, I'm just a little hesitant about doing stuff like scuffing my boat with a scotch brite pad, (I freaked out when drilling holes in it for the depth finders myself), and wasn't sure if it was as easy as they made it sound. Thanks
  5. If you live by a Dick's check'em out. The Dick's by me has them for 7 dollars and when I got them a few months ago they were 25% off that. There still 7 as of three days ago, don't think they are selling many. I personally have yet to try mine, I can't put down the one's I always catch fish on.
  6. I am getting a keel guard this spring and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the ones you apply yourself, or if its better to have it professionally done? Thanks
  7. nice fish. hope there still swimin'
  8. any local club tournaments are awesome and you can learn a lot about the lakes in your area and the people are always awesome. if you want to go a little bigger your area BFL would be a good choice, little bit bigger tourneys, but a lot of fun. let us know what you decide and where your planning on fishing.
  9. I have fished the buckeye division the last two years, which has had 2 events on Erie each year, awesome fishing, but insane waves sometime. You need something comfortable. There may be tournaments when you actually may want to leave it on while fishing, I know this sounds crazy, but two years ago one of our tournaments had 7-9 foot waves (seriously) the last have the afternoon. :-/ See if you can try one on, your gonna want one that fits snug while wearing rain gear, while your running, but also fit when its hot and calm and you don't need your rain gear on. Shop around should be able to get a decent one cheap this time of year, I got a nice wake board style vest on sale for 30 that is very comfortable. Make sure its comfortable and coast guard approved. Great Lakes are awesome.
  10. 20* 30 MPH wind snowing, 3+ inches thus far, can;t wait til St. John's River in two weeks!
  11. I have fished as a nonboater the last two years in the BFL. Like everyone else says stay confident, the fish will come. I really believe in finese fishing a lot of times, I beat 3 of my boaters last year with a shakey head alone. Casting is very important, the more accurate your cast the better possibility you are going to catch fish the boater missed. Stay organized, stay confident and keep your bait in the water.
  12. Thanks for the kind words and input, I really value your guys input. thanks again.
  13. Shimano Castiac, don't know if I spelled it right, but I love mine, used a curado before this year, both are good choices, atleast for me
  14. I fish a lot of shallow cranks, 10ft or less. I really like bandits. There are other's though, as long as it runs good and stright and you bump cover with it, I don't think you can really go wrong.
  15. hey just got my website online, not completed, but its up, I hope to have it finished by March or so, when tournament season is really kicking off, just wondering if you guys or girls had any suggestions and please be honest. www.calebcarminfishing.com thanks for your time caleb
  16. Its about an hour away. I always make sure I spend enough money to make the trip worth while. ;D
  17. Hi

    Welcome.
  18. Welcome. You'll learn a lot here!
  19. Campin stuff so I don't go broke stayin in hotels all summer long during tournaments, some fishing stuff and OSU stuff... GO BUCKS!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  20. curado, curado, ect. My goal this year is to throw other types of baitcaster's (brands) to see if I'm missing anything. I trew a $50 pinacle that my dad bought for himself this past year and I was kinda taken back, because it was pretty decent. But Ive heard a lot about diawa's and I'm itchin to buy one, just gotta pick out the rod
  21. I think that i am pretty good at seperating tourney fishing from just fishing, but I enjoy both. I think that I actually get less time to enjoy fish I catch in a tourney because its to the livewell and thinking about the next one to catch, but I'm happy either way.
  22. Nice fish. That 9 lber eluded me in 2007, unless I get her in the next 4 days.
  23. deep water structure fishing with cranks, jigs ect. in ohio there is not a lot of deep water.
  24. I love flippin', but if the bite is really on, spinnerbait for me.
  25. The Dick's around Dayton also always has some good deals. It seems every week one company is 20% off or so. They also occasional have some of the lower end Diawa reels for 50-60 dolars off. The best part is the fishing department manager knows a lot about fishing and loves to talk about it, which can sometimes be hard to come by (he got me hooked on Bandit cranks and I'm still thankful.)
