  1. I 2nd the curado for all applications mentioned, never fished with a core thougth. However I love my Castiac flippin' reel, but my other flippin reel is a curado.
  2. I've seen a few of those flying down the Ohio River while fishing, gas would be rediculous.
  3. I take my nephew and younger brothers fishing. The previous posts offer great advice. Just try to pick a spot and fish (panfish normally) that you know they will readily catch!
  4. Rod. But if your confidence will be better with the better reel then do that.
  5. Spinnerbait, chatterbait, but any bait you like to throw will work. Wind is awesome, used to hate it, but now I don't mind to see it.
  6. My #1 flippin bait last year. T-rig them, I usually use a small tungsten weight but weightless works also. They have awesome gliding action. They also do make a killer C-rig bait at times. Black w/ blue flecks is awesome, or natural colors with little chartruse dye to make them look like a sunfish. Your about to catch some fish. ;D
  7. Like you said the fish will not have moved far. Jerkbait is always a good choice, don't be afraid to leave it paused for a while during the retrieve. Jigs will also work well. If the fish actually moved, its either a little deeper or up shallow. Use your electronics to see where they are staging if you have them. Also if its a one day or two day tourney, don't over practice. Usually one day before the event is plenty, just my opinion, but good luck!
  8. Nice fish, can you catch those without snagging them?
  9. Good to here you had a decent day, 25 ain't to bad.
  10. Nice fish, it must feel good! I'm looking to break my PB this next week at my first tourney of the year. Nice Fish :o
  11. Never tried them, but they look like zoom's, which I use about everyday I fish. I'll have to order some because I love my other Net bait products.
  12. Agree with the jerkbaits, both hard baits and soft. Jigs. Crankbaits.
  13. I have always wanted on of theses scales but could not bring myself to spend 90-100 dollars on one. I went to Gander Mountain yeaterday and bought one for 15 dollars on clearence with 50% off. Just letting you guys know in case its going on at your stores also. I also bought the Berkley scale and culling system for 12 dollars which is regularly 50. ;D
  14. I have only been around this forum for a few months, but I am simply blown away by the people here. Everybody seems to care about everyone else's success so much. The post's of different members generosities and helpfulness seems to go on forever. I know we all love bass fishing, but I know that we all value something more than just fishing and we are the kinda people that make the world a better place. I am thankful that I can be a part of something that has so many people doing such great things. Ronnie your an inspiration to us all and I hope I have the pleasure of meeting you someday.
  15. The work well as w/ a shakey head. Try'em on a terminator finese jig, they are pretty nasty looking. The tinticles pulsate with the slghtest twitch.

T-rig it mostly. I usually don't peg the weight. I love flippin' this bait. Can also c-rig it, great action, something a little different.
  17. I love zoom finese worm, have about every color they make. Gambler also makes a good finese worm and I'm sure others are just as good. I love bandits also, good choice. Change to an oval split ring and your good to go, they are hard to beat. Their color selection is also amazing.
  18. I just got mine today in the mail, they are awesome lookng. Does anyone use a trailor hook on the bottom for any application? It just seems like you could miss some fish with that small hook.
  19. Great bait. i use mostly blake/blue, but also use browns, greens at times. Great for flippin', their trialers for jigs are awesome. This is also a good bait to cover flats with lots of rocks, ect. Reel them at a steady pace and then stop them by each piece of cover and give them a few stiwches, you can cover a lot of water this way. P.S. The blue trailer in my profile picture is a paca trailer.
  20. That color looks pretty good. It would do well on one of the lakes I fish up here in ohio.
  21. I am seriously considering buying a pair of H30 sunglasses. Was wondering if anyone has had a pair and what they thought about them.
  22. We fish for trout all winter long, only thing to due in ohio, always use spinning gear. Small spiners and grubs can't be beat, unless you use live minnows. Some 3-6 inch creek chubs can catch some big browns.
  23. Smallmouth: Lake Erie Largemouth: Amistad or Falcon
  24. Yup, even in the inlets of Champlain you can get 4-5 footers and the main lake can be 7-8 footers. Erie is the same way. If you are running in a boat that isn't glass or under 18 feet, I would advise to stay away from these lakes because it can be calm as glass in the morning and a few hours later you cannot get back. Any wind on Champlain straight from the north or south is deadly. I must respectfully disagree.......some. As I mentioned, the Erie PA area has the best of both worlds. Conditons permitting, an angler in an 16-18 foot boat can run just outside Presque Isle, less than 2-3 miles, and have all the smallie action they want. If the wind blows, stay in the bay and catch largemouth and possibly smallmouth depending on time of year. Other Erie area launches can put someone with 1 mile of great action. I would have to disagree that the smallmouth population is "decimated" East of Cleveland. The Erie area is alive and quite well, Barcelona, Dunkirk, Buffalo areas are also doing well, just look and the results from the BASS Elite series event held there this year. I will agree that a v series boat may make it better on rougher days but I run an 18 foot ProCraft and do just fine in waves up to 4 feet. Ya just have to keep an eye on the lake condtions and forecast, if it's starts to get bad it's time to go. I agree. I have a 18'6 champion and it does well. I have also been on the water in about every other bass boat brand. It can get dangerous, but just be smart and drive safe, if theres 4 andd 5's out there you just got understand your gonna go slow. I made it back from Canada, 30 mile run to Sandusky, in 7 and 9's, in a Z20, never want to do it again, but slow and steady gets you back. Just watch the weather and remember it will always be a lot rougher comin back in the afternoon. P.S. Wear a life jacket even if its not a tournament day.
